Cal bragging about his NBA all star records

Cal is leaving here being known as a big time underachiever. I don’t have any confidence he wins another title. Opposing fans have been labeling him with that for years. Now most of our fan base has adopted that, including me.

Cal knows it, and I believe it’s eating at him and causing him to say these outlandish things the last several years. He just knew after a title and getting into the HOF he was destined for elite status. His legacy is going to be known for recruiting.
A couple of guys I work with are not UK fans, but they have both stated "he's a good recruiter but can't coach"

No one said we were NBA, literally no one. We can be UK and celebrate the success of our former players. This fanbase is the only fanbase in the country that doesn’t see form wr players success as a positive. That’s how toxic these unhinged weirdos are.
The more the players success is placed above the teams success the less I care about the players. I’m a fan of the team first and the players second. If a player is put ahead of the team or puts himself ahead of the team, I have no use for them.

Of all the players that Cal has ever had on his teams at UK, what percentage have become NBA All Stars?

Surely you realize that the NBA success of our players helps with recruiting.

Well I think I that’s the whole point, isn’t it? The recruiting is great, but where are the results to follow? Isn’t that what the whole clip is about? Him telling us why we should be happy about the recruiting, even though in his words “we haven’t been to a final four in 9 years”? Why then should we care about top recruits? It’s like he was trying to convince us that we, as Kentucky fans, should be happy about past players being good in the NBA. It should be obvious to all of us. If you have to explain to people why a joke is funny, it’s probably not that funny. A truly funny joke would make people laugh without explanation.

This! Without the corresponding results, the recruiting doesn't really matter at all. Or it shouldn't.

I'm starting to think all the NBA spam posts on the board are the result when you brainwash people into thinking the point of college basketball is to have the best recruiting class.

He definitely is reading social media or someone is telling him what’s posted. He doesn’t mention the last 4 years. Takes a jab at fans for mentioning it’s been 9 years. The ultimate narcissist underachiever!

It's no secret Cal has PR staff that peruse message boards and social media. It's their job to gauge the pulse of the fans.

His problem is that he tends to passively mock the fans in responses. Or at least it regularly appears that's what he's doing.

How dare he be proud of the success of his former players. The nerve of some people!
Being proud is not what he's exhibiting in these messages. He's trying to take credit for it, and then slaps a few mentions of "Kentucky" in attempts to get the fans to jump on board.

Bottom line:

1. Cal had nothing to do with where they are today. Zero.
2. Kentucky had nothing to do with where they are today, or that they are in the NBA.
3. Kentucky fans had no impact on these kids making it in the NBA or succeeding in the NBA.
and the biggest one:
4. Kentucky fans (most) don't give a rats ass about how many past UK one and dones are in the NBA.

What about the ones that actually win conference championship/tournaments, make FF and win NCs PLUS put players in the league?
That sounds great too. I was responding to someone who said they didn’t care if ONE single player ever made the nba….

Sounds pretty selfish and against the main reason 99% of people would ever go to college (to get a job) which is what most of the players and their parents choose for, whether you like it or not…

The more the players success is placed above the teams success the less I care about the players. I’m a fan of the team first and the players second. If a player is put ahead of the team or puts himself ahead of the team, I have no use for them.
In what way were our NBA All Stars success placed before the team? They are no longer on the team and their NBA success has nothing to do with our team success. It’s just something crybabies use to cry about. None of you give a single damn about these kids then cry that they’re not loyal. You’re not loyal, they’re just entertainment for middle aged weirdos with no life.

Imagine being so dumb that you think have 7 NBA All Stars cost us the Gonzaga game.

What also bugs me about these Cal rants is the way he seems to be implicitly trying to take undue credit.

Sorry, Cal, but those seven guys making this year’s All-Star team is entirely 100 percent THEIR accomplishment, NOT yours. You were lucky enough that they once chose to play for you for a few months, then they went off to the NBA where they later developed into great players without you. That is all that happened.

You had nothing to do with them becoming all stars, so don’t imply otherwise.

Cal is looking more like a DMV worker that takes credit for the great drivers he's taken pictures of than a coach with anything about which to brag.

The more talent he's got on a roster, the more he chokes on it. The only thing I was surprised about after this loss was that he didn't send his wife out to handle the post game press conference.

Don't get me wrong tho. She'd be a better interview and probably knows more about the game. In fact, it would be the first time since Cal arrived that a Calipari actually answered the questions the press asked. Plus there might be brownies

If Cal went to the grocery store to buy eggs and bread for 10 years, and got home each time to find the bagger completely smashed all the great eggs he paid 9 million dollars for and stomped on the bread he loved for years he'd have you believe he wouldn't be bothered by it. Is it dementia, deceit, or delusion that's gotten hold of him at this point? It's clearly not coaching or reason and it's never been compassion for the fans that help pay his way

You have missed the whole point. ALL UK fans are happy for our former players success at the next level.

BUT, when our head coach, that is making $8 million/ year to win games, LOSES in Rupp 3 times in a row for the FIRST time in the HISTORY of that Arena, then our fans have EVERY RIGHT in the world to call out a coach that has PUBLICLY proclaimed that getting kids into the NBA is his TOP priority!!!!

Then you add to that the fact that this SAME coach has ALLOWED the "Gold Standard of college basketball" to slide to a point LOWER THAN what has gotten former coaches FIRED, to take another job or to retire, then YOU are the one that is "DUMB" if you think fans aren't JUSTIFIED in their feelings toward this NON-PRODUCTIVE coach!!!

Cal has tried to SHOVE the NBA success of our former players down our throats for years!!! It was GREAT when he ACTUALLY won the SEC, SEC Tournament and was getting UK to Final 4's!!! But when he started LOSING to not just the Bigtime schools but Evansville, St. Peter's and UNC WIlmington on top of first year HC's in the SEC and Vandy TWICE last year, fans don't want to hear about the success of former players in the NBA when UK is LOSING WAAAAAAAYYYYY TOO OFTEN!!!!!

The criticism is 1000% toward Cal, NOT our former players!!!!

But you knew that.

How does he explain the home loss to Evansville (ranked #298 out of 354 with a 9-23 record) with Maxey and that team?

You have the right to call out the coach but our NBA All Stars have nothing to do with us losing 3 games in a row. Why is that so hard to get? You can’t explain the correlation between having NBA All Stars and the kids on this team losing. The criticism about All Stars is absolutely moronic. Complaining about a coach shoving the success of former players down your throat is moronic too. There are 1000 things to complain about but you unhinged weirdos want to complain about everything, even our successes. That’s how I can tell you’re not real fans. Our successes make you miserable because hating the coach comes first.

Has he done any bragging yet about how the draft stock of virtually every player on this year's team has plummeted since the start of the year?

Cal is touting putting players in the NBA and the number of players from UK in the All Star game. That is really nice.

I noticed he isn't talking up his win loss record at UK since 2017. Do you think UK fans buy UK gear because SGA is doing well in the NBA? Do you think UK fans pay a premium to go to UK games to watch poorly coached basketball teams because of 7 NBA all Stars?

Mitch and Cal treat UK basketball as a business. Guess what happens when you are an expensive restaurant and the food goes from high quality to awful?

Why the hell when he talk about his win loss record when the subject a record number of UK players making the NBA All Star game? He didn’t talk about what he had for breakfast either. Again, 1000 real things to complain about, you unhinged weirdos choose a great accomplishment to cry about.

Good luck in your defense of a guy who continues to spiral.

No dumbazz...having that idiot of a coach that you like to prop up cost us the Gonzaga game. The theory being that his preoccupation w/ the number of nba players w/ which he can associate himself has supplanted the desire to win games for the University of Kentucky (who still pays the assclown's salary), and in turn is costing the program wins and prestige at an unacceptable rate

LOL at someone as stupid as you calling someone dumbass. Yeah, I’m fully aware of what cost us the Gonzaga game dumb boy and that why I know it wasn’t NBA All Stars. You’re too dumb to get that, you’re a loser with mob mentality who will reach for any negativity no matter how stupid like be mad that we have NBA All Stars. You’re a complete joke.

You couldn’t show once instance of me propping up Cal. More ignorance from you. You don’t have a lick of common sense, just a weirdo loser incessantly crying and making up lies about people propping up Cal.

Maybe I missed something in your previous idiotic ramblings....I'm sure you missed the point of my post: people aren't mad at the kids making the all-stars--we're disgusted that Cal would use the occassion to prop up his own crumbling reign of mismanagement of our program

Yeah, you either missed something or you’re dumb af, likely both. The point is having NBA players having success has nothing to do with us losing. You can be disgusted with Cal without making moronic comments and acting like having successful former players is a bad thing. There is no correlation between losing with the current team and Tyrese Maxey and others making an all star game. Again, y’all are so toxic you will reach for anything to be negative no matter how stupid.

It just happened and it was relevant, he didn’t randomly just bring it up to prop up anything. The jokes in this fanbase are the only fans on the planet that get mad when former players have success. You have legitimate stuff to complain about but you pick this. You’re all a joke.

Always message board BS from these frauds who can’t defend their moronic takes. Every single time. We know you can’t defend the moronic take that having 7 NBA all stars is a bad thing so you deflect every single time.

7 NBA all stars is a bad thing when you have 1 that’s right only 1 NCAA championship to show for it. The last time I checked he coaches for the Wildcats which is in the NCAA where it’s his job to win NCAA titles not worry about how many damn NBA all stars he has. I guess we are the stupid ones though because he said as much when he took the job in 2009……..
