No one has even left yet so why panic, and if someone does leave, I will wait and see who is hired. Neither has happened yet so why complain on what the rumors are? I just don’t see why anyone wants to be upset about it especially until it happens. I think the virus is affecting everyone’s mental state on here. :)

see, that's how you do it

This is bullshit. Seriously I hope Cal leaves after this year. I’m absolutely done with the underachieving and hiring of trash coaches. He’s Tubby Smith with a little makeup and lipstick.

LOL...this thread aged nicely for many of you on here.

One of the more delicious threads in a while. So much egg.

Huge mistake by Cal. Just a totally boring, blah hire that will bring no benefit to the program.

Really, really disappointed in Cal on this one.

He just went from a Ferrari to a Taurus
And you went from a Taurus to a Kia.

I know Cal is a loyal guy and puts it ahead of just about everything, but he’s not hiring Bruiser Flint and if he does he needs to start taking hard questions about putting his personal life ahead of his job description. Kentucky Basketball is not a personal club for coaches to see to it friends are taken care of.

Bruiser Flint is not even remotely close to the type of guy UK would need in the role of Payne. I would even be willing to bet recruiting takes a massive hit.

It’s just a bizarre situation. I’m going to assume this is media driven and “connect the dots” by the morons we call sports journalists today.

This in a nutshell is essentially how all of your opinions turn out...all the time.

Cal's a loyal guy...period. He was clearly going to hire his bud Bruiser. And yet, you blindly go on and on...blame the media in the process and go on and on...BAM - Cal hired Bruiser.

Failed head coach, mediocre (at best) recruiter, replacing the top assistant coach in college basketball. Doesn't take a genius to see this is a major downgrade.

Payne - #3
Flint - #56

I 100% get what you are saying with the coaches rankings. But, you have to admit, it is a hell of a lot easier to recruit to UK than IU. At UK, you would have Cal to close the deal. At IU, you get Archie. And he is nowhere near the salesman that Cal has. Any coach would have an easier time recruiting to UK right now than IU. I don't think recruiting will be the issue. The issue would be if he can develop and teach as good as KP did.

LOL...Underachieving? He won more games in the last decade than any other coach. What more could you possibly want? Sometimes I read your posts and ask myself if you follow the same team.

I agree and this is the go to answer everyone provides. But, look at the last 5 seasons compared to the first 5. It's a MASSIVE difference in success.

Seems like a lot of people just WANT to complain about something. Dude hasn’t even made it to the sidelines and it’s the worst hire in the history of hires.

Okay, I will give you that. In the first five years, there was one season we made it to the final game when nobody thought we would be there. There were also a couple seasons in the last five years that we had the horses and either ran into bad luck or a shitty ref. Last year we didn't get a chance and I felt we were ready for a run to the final four. I don't think it is nearly as lopsided as the numbers reflect.

Ultimately, we can't cherry pick stats. Cal's success speaks for itself and to want him gone is ludicrous. Only a very short sighted fool would say that.

I don’t really know much about Flint. What will he bring to the table? Recruiting, big men development; guard development, x and o’s for offense?

Ahhh crap...come on Cal. I understand loyalty and all, but damn, the dude had a job. It's not like you were saving him from the unemployment line. Damn. So much for bringing in a bright, young recruiting type of coach to inject a little energy into the program.

I totally agree with the last statement. However, the Flint hiring is underwhelming...and that's being nice.

I’m sure he’s bringing Bruiser in to help day to day operations and may be recruit a little. I’m going to hold judgement on Bruiser. Recruiting at UK is a different level altogether than recruiting at IU, so we will see.
