Bruiser Flint hired by UK as assistant

And we’re much, much better in 2017-2018 assuming he stayed for his junior year. So I’m just trying to wrap my head around the concept that him leaving “worked out well for UK.”
Matthews was a great player at michigan he surprised me so much I had no idea he could be that good. Just because he didn’t get drafted doesn’t mean he wasn’t a fantastic college player (Wayne Turner)

Yes he was...Never understood why it didn't click/work for him at UK.

So, you’re going to use what happened at the end of one game to make your point? It’s still wrong. UK 2015 was a younger team than Wisconsin. Wisconsin's guys learned their lesson from the year before, they didn't panic, they did what veterans do. Our sophomores crumbled, which further makes my point. Sophomores aren't what you would call veterans.

Also, who's better:
-freshman N Richards, or Junior N Richards?
-Freshman PJ, or Sophomore PJ?
-Freshman T Jones or Sophomore T Jones?
-Freshman Quickly or Sophomore Quickly?

This is a no brainer and it carries over in life. Are you a better driver right now, or were you better the first year you got your license.

So, by your opinion, you’re saying there would be no difference between freshman Anthony Davis and Senior Anthony Davis. If AD stayed at UK for 4 years, you’re opinion is that senior AD wouldn’t be any better than freshman AD? I want to make sure we are clear on that. To me, experience is one of the top 3 most important things you need when building a roster.

Look at UVA, Villanova, UNC (and pretty much every team that has won an NCAA title). They’re all veteran teams. When the players on those teams were freshmen, they couldn't even crack the starting rotation for their perspective programs.

Our 2013/14 team. They were supposed to go 40-0 right? Yeah, they sucked all year long, but then they killed it in the tournament. Why? Experience. They grew up throughout the season and came together. But if that team stayed together for 3 more years, they would be far better at the end of that 4th year than they were the first. I don’t see how you can argue differently.

I can't believe I have to explain this.

Lets do this. You either have to have talented kids with experience, or you have to have top 5 rated freshmen. The results bare that out.

Keep in mind, I'm not comparing Anthony Davis or John Wall to Cassius Winston, of course I would take Davis or Wall. But when you compare just about any lower rated 5* to senior Cassius Winston, I'm taking Winston. You would too.

OK, Ridley me this batman, the entire Fab five returned to college after losing in the championship game as freshmen, they won the title, right?? Nope, so what exactly did that experience do for them?? Nothing. You are equating players who work to get better as just experience, but that's wrong. Truth is, I dont know whether AD as a senior would be better than AD as a freshman. He likely would, provided he worked on his game. But he isnt going to be better just because he was a sophomore instead of a freshman, and that is the point. Experience is just some mythological trait that people use, but it, in and of itself equates to nothing, absolutely nothing. Everyone of the players you listed got better because they worked hard on their games and increased their talent. They didn't get better just because they aged. If you dont understand that, then I'm not sure you understand basketball at all.

Here, let me put this another way. I played against an 8th grader when i was in high school named JP Blevins. He averaged about 20 points a game as an 8th grader. He basically averaged that every year he was in high school. He was awesome as an 8th grader, but wasnt much better as a senior. Now why is that, I mean he got 4 years of "experience" under his belt, why was he no better as a senior than an 8th grader?? Because just being older doesnt make you better. If you wanna be better, it takes tons of work, not age.

So you're using the fab five as your argument? Really, they played in the early 90's and they played for Steve Fisher. They also played at Michigan, not Kentucky and not for Cal.

And again, Sophomores are not veterans. I'm talking about Juniors and seniors.

You're out of your mind if you think experience doesn’t matter. With every bad pass, every foul, every missed layup, every missed defensive rotation, you gain experience. You simply can't replace experience and if you have talent, then you add experience to said talent, you have a very dangerous weapon.

I laughed when you said you aren't sure if AD would be any better after 3 years of college. This tells me you don't understand how hard this game and how good the competition is.

Every kid that has played under Cal has gotten much better every year with the exception of maybe EJ.

Yeah, I agree, talent is the #1 thing you must have, followed by size and athleticism, but experience takes a talented player to the next level and is why Cal's teams get exponentially better throughout the year. They gain experience throughout the season.

Joe Crawford, Ramel Bradley, Epps, Wayne Turner and Gerald Fitch just to name a few more.

Yeah, Wayne Turner, that guy was apparently mediocre since he didn't get drafted.

I’m not sure why you keep using terms (mediocre) that I didn’t say. Does it make you feel better? I said no one has left Kentucky and become a star anywhere else in college. Some have been very good but I wouldn’t give them star status. I stand by that and I’m sorry if it pissed you off.............actually I don’t really care, lol.

Again, he tore his ACL in predraft workouts. He had a very good chance of being drafted before that.

Was he Anthony Davis? John Wall? Jamal Murray? Obviously not. But there are certainly different levels of college stardom as far as I’m concerned. Semantics, I guess.

Well at least by naming “stars”, you catch my drift. And I was only taking about kids who left us for another college not guys going to the pros early.

See post #418. You must have forgotten that you said this.
I guess I consider players who are stars get drafted by the NBA[/B]. He didn't, but was a very good player. The original statement made by me was that no one who left Kentucky for another school has turned out to be a star player, just a few good ones.
So I'll ask you again, was Wayne Turner a star in your opinion? How about Joe Crawford and Ramel Bradley?
Based on post #418, your answer is no. Am I right?

You obviously don't understand.

You said "I guess I consider players who are stars get drafted by the NBA"

That's what you said and that’s what I responded to. Are you denying what you said?

So again, was Wayne Turner a star? Was Shep a star? Crawford? Smooth? Stop skating around this.

You are such an immature poster, grow up. The reason no one likes you is evident, such a whiner.

Jeff is such a whiner. He just may take his ball and go home once he comes out of his mommy's basement.
