Bolden. Wait for it...

HOB - plus there are a handful of insiders who have never wavered on their pick.

Personally, I wouldn't get too excited about it, but at least it adds a little drama to the recruitment.
I'm too poor to know what's on HOB but Chris Fischer has stuck with his uk pick on the crystal ball. He's usually very accurate.

Tides turning, Duke fans gone?????

WHAT? I thought they just wanted to talk basketball when he was a Duke Lock?

I'm still here and I'm still saying it's Duke. The Thornton situation is not something that was just learned by Bolden or his mother. That situation has been brewing since Christmas time.

Bolden wouldn't start at Duke or UK next year but he could very well be the best player on either team in 2017 after all the One and Done guys bolt to the NBA.

Any idea if Bolden is considered a 1st Round pick next year? He strikes me as at least a 2-3 year college player.

Calling BS on this one.

Man, that would be great if ended up landing this kid. But I'm with Drew at this point, I'm just ready for this to be over with so we know who exactly will be on our team next year.

Matt jones isn't the only one saying it. You should get premium.

Also, Chris Fisher who has picked UK for while now and replied this to my Twitter question about if he was going to change his pick:

@AppyCat Just depends on what I hear. Haven't heard anything substantive enough to make me change it.

I realize this means his position can change with new information but it also implies he didn't waiver with the recent Duke trend either

Long-time lurker, first-time poster.

This just seemed ironic to say after starting a topic, which basically said, "lots of buzz around Bolden, just wait..."

Toying with my emotions, man!

Everything you said here is counterfactual, except for the question. And the answer to the question is "Yes.".

I don't care what you say about the DT situation, it looks bad on K.

I actually don't dispute that it "looks bad." I'm also not a homer Duke fan that can't admit when Duke/Coach K makes mistakes. I do truly think Coach K told the Thornton family his plan for how Derryck was going to be used and then he wasn't. As UK fans, I expect you guys to say "Coach K lied." I am a coach myself and I know that many times we have a gameplan for how we want to do something and then it doesn't work and we have to change the plan.

The Thornton family feels he wasn't used properly in the offense and who knows? Maybe they are right? I guess time will tell if he goes somewhere out West and kills it.

The OP is correct that there are always these smokescreens in the last day or two.

I have no idea what Bolden is going to do, but it never fails that you'll have rumors about the player going to the other school 24-48 hours before he commits.

Probably has to do with the player's camp sending out mixed messages in some ways to create some obfuscation. But more than that I think a lot of the recruiting guys hedge their bets at the last minute. It's easy to be confident a month out, but as the weekend itself approaches I think you get some waffling.

And then that waffling hits the echo chamber, and you've got this, "Well, maybe..." sentiment around swirling around a player. Happens every time.

You can call it whatever you like.... was this not included in his crazy uncle, trainer, guys twitte rant? Its hard to remember everything he posted.

Crazy like selling a kid out? Asking him to reclassify and then having him draw straws where all the straws are short.

And rat face doesn't lie and have a bruised face from repeated punching bags. [laughing]

GTFO dook slurper

I'm just saying there is definite buzz out there, and I think it's going to increase over the next 24 hours. I've been burned by last minute buzz enough though that I'm just saying - expect it, and don't get too carried away by it.

I'm still having traumatic flashbacks to the Jaylen Brown recruitment. That's about the worst and most soul-crushing I can remember - especially with how the news came out and the head-scratching choice.

The new post on HOB seems to bring some extra juice to the juiciness. Kinda sorta seems like click bait.

He will play 2 years IMO he is not on Gabriel or Bam's level but he is a very good player. Think randolph Morris .

Oh my God I cant wait to taunt all the Dook fan boys on here. Lets see. I remember one's name in "thedude" what's the rest of em. Man I'm gonna give em so much hell. One of them has numbers in his name. Like 325 or some s**t

As a neutral party here, I tend to see the Duke side regarding Thornton. If anything, the staff should be frustrated they pursued the wrong guard in reclassifying. Thornton was vastly overrated based upon the performance he had at the NBPA Camp 2 Summers ago. He then was very average most of his HS season at Findlay Prep. The fact that Mark Edwards (his trainer) went off on Twitter amped this all up. It's more of an ego thing with Edwards as he's always proclaiming his "greatness" and shredding other kids who don't workout with him or get his stamp of approval. Funny how the finger is being pointed at Duke now--when he was hyping all things Duke when "his nephew" got on there. Also this is a guy who was talking down Murray as not being in same caliber as "his guy" Blakeney. Sure.

I see a lot of things Duke can get crap for--mainly how USA Basketball has helped them immensely when it comes to recruiting and this laughable garbage that Coach K has "saved basketball". He's one of the greatest of all time--but geez--calm this theme down.

As for this recruitment, I have no clue--waiting to hear from my well informed friend who is out in NYC and really more focused on the '17/'18 class and EYBL--but I'll ask and let you know if he has heard from his friends. They would know 100%. And for those who take shots at "insiders"--keep it up. Anyone with info--is fortunate enough to work in the industry or knows those who do. That's called an employee or a friend of someone who works in industry. If these guys truly knew anything--they'd not speak in code, not live in gray areas, and will definitely say "I don't know" a lot-because sometimes you just don't know. Thing is there are a few UK "insiders" that I've had friends on this board ask me about/their info and I laugh when they were saying one thing and now claim to be saying another. Sometimes it's better to just say "I DONT KNOW". lol

Whats funny is that if NWO turns out to be right, there will be a lot of posters here forget it was blind optimism and start trusting him in the future on his predictions.

NWO does exude a lot of blind optimism, but you exude a ton of blind pessimism as well, so there's that.

I don't think so. Talent wise, you're right. Hype was, nope. He will be gone after just one year of college basketball. It won't even matter if the kid starts or not. He's big and talented. When you look at the lack of elite bigs in the NBA at this moment, i guess it makes sense why they will take a chance on any big talented kid entering the draft. If we were talking Bolden's best interest, he would come here and play two years at the least before he even starts to think about entering the draft. So many kids are in such a hurry to make it they don't even enjoy the time they have in school. I don't understand it. I understand we all want to have plenty of money, but if i'm one of these kids, i would know the money will be there a year or two from now and enjoy my time in college being the man.
