Bagley already officially CLEARED by NCAA

That was part of the sales pitch. Don't think for a second it didn't go something like this: "There is absolutely no way the NCAA will clear you quickly if you go to play for Cal. They'll scrutinize your every move. And even if they do clear you, they'll keep digging after you've left school and eventually tarnish your name (Derek, cough, cough, Rose). But if you come here, you'll be good to go in a matter of weeks and it will never be spoken of again."

Not surprisingly, UK went from the top of his list to not even getting a visit.

Probably cleared without sending any supporting documentation. Held a mirror in front of his face, if it fogged up, and he was wearing a Duke jersey, he was cleared.

It didn't take long did it, whether legitimate or not the NCAA should have let it drag out for a while just where it would look like any other case, but because it was Duke it was put on a fast track, sickening.

On one hand that kind of sounds like a crazy conspiracy theory, but on the other it seems extremely plausible.

Calipari has had the greatest recruiting run in history by anyone not named John Wooden. Anybody that would complain about anything having to do with recruiting at this point reveals themselves to be not only miserable but also spoiled beyond belief, and deserves to have the fan membership card revoked.

Just my opinion of course.

I 200% believe this

I'll take this particular conspiracy one deeper. I think it's all about sending K out with a championship and with Duke on top... They tried last season and as hard as the ESPN/Bilas/Vitale/Goodman/J Will/S.Davis cartel tried to pump up Duke all season - even hilariously saying winning the ACC tournament was harder than an NCAA championship - and Bilas pathetically jonesing for a #1 seed for Duke. The kid is very good - but he has to work with other freshman and the cancer of Grayson Allen - Coached by Capel. It's not all roses. And I have a lot of hope for our team. Not about to roll over for Duke.

Now - granted - with this already preferential treatment by the NCAA - the fix could be in all season with refs, home court advantages, cakewalk bracket draws. One just has to hope that within their (NCAA/Duke/ESPN) desire to control all of NCAA basketball this season - something will get away from their control like last season. It's a long shot I know.

But Please - let's not roll over and lament what Duke has... even if it's as dirty as Capel's cheating recruiting record... We have a super exciting and athletic team with a ton of upside. Enjoy and support them! Go Cats!!

It is isn't a surprise that this happened quickly. They only have ten days to review the transcript.

Amateurism issues are the ones that drag on forever.

Also, Duval has always been the more questionable case. He will also be cleared.

The funny part about this thread is the fact none of us ever even doubted it was going to happen. Some will say we're being paranoid, but nah, at this point you would have to be trying not to see how Duke is just one of the few schools that gets special treatment by people in charge, the media and officals. Everytime this kid's name was mentioned in a thread, getting cleared to play was always mentioned going to be a tough thing to do, then the kid signs with Duke and has the kid cleared and ready to go this early in the process? You can't make this up. With K being so great, i'm sure just with a wave of his magic wand, or nose, the NCAA clears the kid. With UNC still not showing any signs of being charged, if you can't see the help these two schools get over everyone else, i don't know if you want to see the truth.

Bagley is a talented player and will help Duke's odds of being in the final four, but let's not act like we're dealing with another Shaq in the post. This kid doesn't make Duke unbeatable, but it helps their frontcourt and probably has the big that looked awful last season at center for Duke hating life right about now. With this dude being cleared, he will be lucky if he ever makes it into a actual game. With the kid playing at Duke, we all know Bagley will never see foul trouble. That wasn't on the wrist, even if your wrist is now broke, that was a clean block by Bagley!

Sad thing is that kids like Bagley, Duval, Ayton, etc. can probably thank Derrick Rose for the fact that they are even playing college basketball.

Derrick Rose, a kid from a tough, mean Chicago neighborhood, went to a "real" public high school for 3 years - Simeon in Chicago. Because he barely maintained a "C" average in high school, Rose had to score 900 on his SAT. Since the eligibility requirements are sliding scale based on GPA, if he'd had a "B" average, he would have only had to score a 600 and he would have been fine.

Notice how you never hear about big-time kids not getting the requisite SAT scores anymore? It's because high level prospects who are indifferent students like Duval, Bagley, Ayton, etc., are now funneled to private schools, prep schools, basketball academies, etc. where they suddenly have high GPAs and therefore can practically pass the SAT by just randomly penciling in the answers.

And yet Bagley, Duval, and Ayton are going to be playing and competing for a championship this year, while Rose had his entire college career expunged, and Cal and Memphis had an entire year of victories erased, because of the mere flagging of his SAT score as suspect - no proof required.

And people wonder why we hate the NCAA.
