Bad C-rod news ...potentially

I think you're seeing things from a UGA perspective....UK ain't playing at that level. Schools like you have better WR, TE, QBs, etc...you have a more complete squad. And playing in the playoffs, etc...you have to have well rounded teams and in particular really good passing offenses.

I agree Levis can take us to a level that CRod can't do so. It sounds like we'll get a shot at watching what Levis can do w/o CRod. But our next 2 backs are way smaller/shiftier but can they keep UK at 2nd and 6....which I'd argue helps Levis a ton....we'll see how it pans out

TE probably better , we don't recruit very well at WR and we start a former 2* walk on at QB. I hate a talent kid seems to have made some kind of mistake. UGA isn't all in on NIL like some others are, so we will see how it plays out.
I’ve never disagreed with you more . . . . . nor hoped as much that you are right.

Give our Citrus Bowl tape a spin: of those anemic 20 points we scored, two TD’s were by Crod, and one was by receiving.

However his situation works out, at least we have all Summer and Fall to adjust.

Of course I want UGA to win as much as you want UK to win. CROD is one of your better players, I have no clue what all this is about. But UK can survive and be competitive without CRob, not sure they can without WL. As a UGA fan Crod doesn't concern me, WL does.
Bingo....this guys gets it.

This is why Emmit Smith was way better RB and won a ton more than Barry Sanders in NFL. Eye opening plays are awesome to watch. But you can't count on this throughout a game and the great teams don't let you break a ton of those plays.

But constantly being in 2nd and 6, 3rd and 2, etc.. helps keep the chains moving, wears down the defense, keeps your defense off the field, etc... Thsi is why CRod is a huge blow to UK if we don't get him

Emmett Smith was a great NFL back, but the Cowboys won more because he played on team surrounded by good players and played for a organization committed to winning. Barry Sanders played for one of the worst organizations in football that never emphasied winning. Smith played 15 years, 5 more than Sanders and had 3100 more career yards averaged nearly a yard less per carry than Sanders and almost 20 yards a game for an entire career. It's not cut and dry Smith over Sanders.

I could have run behind that Dallas OL and gained yards.

So UK has Benny Snell and Boom Williams at RB...very similar on our standard to Emmitt vs. Barry. Who you got if you had to showcase one or the other? Both ran behind same OLine.

Yes.

I see Grumpy’s point to this extent: who on Kentucky’s team, if he maxed out his freakish ability, could lead to beating Georgia and winning the East?

Sure, that is Will Levis.

I actually started a thread as to “whether this could be the year” where everything fell UK’s way for a playoff run. Most of the focus of my answer was on Levis creating the magic, and either equaling or exceeding his lofty pre-season draft speculation.

But along with my hope of a freak season from Levis is my memory of UK’s last touchdown against Iowa: Crod breaking the tackle of Vonfaulkenburg at the ten yard line like he was running through a ten year old’s tackle attempt.

Crod rivals Snell and a handful of others from my 50 years of watching U.K. football for breaking tackles: he’s special.

Half of the SEC has gone 8 seasons or more without a ten win season . . . and we have had two the last 4 years. As another poster alluded to, our chances for a repeat of a ten win season take a hit without Crod. And another ten win season is likely the rosiest scenario we can hope for.
Just wait until SEC defenses no longer have to move a safety into the box for run support to account for CRod.

We do not have another back that has shown the ability to break tackles and force an extra player inside the box to stop the run like CRod has.
Levis' numbers will be the first to take a big step back without CRod.

A big portion of what many felt was Levis growth was precisely that. A strong running game setting a QB up for success.

I did find that strange but Reddit is the same place that reported his DUI 6+ hours before anyone else.
It is sounding more like CROd and Baker somehow got some under the table money that dind't pay taxes upon...which gets them caught not just in college/NIL rules but also federal tax back payments.

I get it...but if this is true...it's crap as well. Are we really going to argue Bryce Young did $2M worth of value to get his NIL? Maybe the difference is setting it up correctly and paying your taxes on revenue, etc... but it's still paying players to play on your school football program is all this new world is really about. Does feel as a UK fan the big fish dont have to play to the same rules as the rest of us to a degree.

The IRS is way too short handed to move that quickly on something like this. They just don't do that. No one has a right to judge value, value is in the eye of the beholder. That would effectively be a cap and won't stand up to judicial review. They are clearly trying to resolve this thing or it would already be out. I'll be glad when whatever it is is over.

Whatever the reason, we will miss Crod if this plays out as has been suggested.
It will remain to be seen how other backs/receivers step up, especially when we throw in a new O line coach and OC.

If what I heard is correct, it has nothing to do with taxes, rather illegal activity. But not sure why the illegal activity would have ever taken place as seems there would be more NIL money to have been made.

When was the last time RB were responsible for a team winning a NC? Henry with Bama is the last time I remember. That was a long time ago. Clemson in their 2 wins had outstanding QBs, Bama had them in their 3, LSU had 1 when they won theirs. 10 years ago yeah, RB won championships, today, not so much. I hate the kid has somehow gotten himself in a position to may have to sit out the year. Why would I be glad no Crod, we have been fairly successful defensively against the run.
The teams in the playoffs usually have three very good rbs. in bama and ugas case 1 after the other nfl caliber backs. The real question is when is the last time a team won the natty wo a running back who went on to start at some point in the nfl?

@Grumpyolddawg is a highly respected poster here and I'm glad he's active on our board. I usually agree with him but he's off base on this one.
After thinking about it, I think that he thinks RBs aren't difference makers because Georgia has had such a deep stable of running backs for so long that he thinks any RB could just get plugged in and be great. It's just a case of a fan getting so used to his team being elite at a position that he doesn't even notice that the third string running back that comes in while they're up 40 in the 3rd is also a 5 star that is a future NFL player and could have been the lead back as a true freshman at 98% of D1 schools in the country.

Rock made a thread about what MJ reported yesterday. MJ said it wasn't anything moral or a crime. Some suggested PEDs but I thought that is still a crime (illegal meds). IDK

Having a PED in his system isn't always a crime, they can be used to speed up recovery from injury or treat inflammation. I got them one when I was covered in poison oak. Now he should have know he wasn't suppose to take them. But it wouldn't be criminal, just against the rules. Pretty severe penalty if you test positive, have to test clean for a year to get back

No that is correct some aren't even illegal and are in supplements, but that would be reported if he failed a test. IDK

PEDs???? Is that a joke. Missing an entire season for PEDs in 2022.

At some point, I think it does more harm than good for media to continue their “this is baddd, could be reallllll bad, but I can’t tell y’all what it is” bs.

If you’re talking about a suspension, it better be real bad. Hope it aint, but if we sit the leagues best RB for some stupid NIL or PED nonsense…

Georgia doesn't recruit very well, excuse me while I laugh. They may have gone by now but it wasn't long that Georgia had seven five stars------in ONE class. I don't think it has fallen off that much. UK has had a couple that played much------in the past.TWENTY years. What was CRod, a 5.5 0r 5.6 three star?

Not sure but I don't think the steroids you took for poison oak are' the same as the body building roids, someone correct me if I am wrong!

I think a bigger problem might be our squeaky clean athletic department reporting things other programs laugh about------in private.

That TE might have been better? Are you talking about that freak of nature?

The last top RB we had was Swift, White was special before 2 ACL tears, which he had before he ever took a snap at UGA, Cook is elite receiver, but the others have just been quality backs. I was a little surprised White was drafted to tell you the truth, thought Cook would because he will be a very good 3rd down back.

But even with all those NFL caliber RBs, it took a walkon 2* QB with his passing and running skills to get us a NC. SB might get signed as an UDFA. WL will be drafted early, now I have no idea where he will be picked in the QB order, but i am pretty sure before Crod will be and I think he will go pretty early for a RB if he can show some good hands.

That TE might have been better? Are you talking about that freak of nature?

I think Bowers is pretty good TE, #19, but I was talking about the entire TE room,
Arik Gilbert, Darnell Washington and Oscar Delp an EE frosh that led receivers in spring game. I think it is probably the best and deepest position on the team, there are 2 more that I can't believe at least 1 didn't hit the portal.

Not sure but I don't think the steroids you took for poison oak are' the same as the body building roids, someone correct me if I am wrong!

Probably not, but it is a drug that an athlete can't have in their system because it is a PED and it's the same ban for either.

Sorry college football players don’t get PEDs by going to your clinic for men with low T. That said no reason besides one post to think that’s even the issue.
Agree. I was just saying. Not all PEDS(Performance Enhancing) are illegal. That’s all I was saying.
