Will Butler play Tomorrow?

Anyone have any info other than what was said at the press conference? I recognize that there is absolutely a play where coaches are just acting like they are unsure so UL has to prepare for the possibility of either scenario.

But I don’t like the possibility of not having a point guard in a game like this. If butler is anywhere near close to go then they need to tape it up and play him.

UK vs UL Spread

Opened at 11.5. I guessed 13 based on kenpom plus home court.

I hope I’m wrong but I’m going UL on the spread. They have guys who are good shooters, but bad so far this season. Waterman understands pope and could give them some insight, plus I’m worried he will get hot from three whereas he’s been awful all season so far.

UL rebounds the ball well; and we’ve struggled with that at times.

Butler being rusty could hurt, and I’m not sold that he’s going to play. If he doesn’t play, Hepburn could be a real problem to guard and could cause our offense some issues.

Thoughts on our freshmen

All three have a ton of talent, and if they stick with it will be real nice college players.

But right at this moment they are out of sync with the flow of the game. Rushing shots. Overplaying and missing defensive position. These three are really true freshmen and are going to have to figure it at their own pace. All 3 hustle, all 3 want to do well. Their time will eventually come….perhaps even this year. As of last night though they struggled.
In this day of transfer with immediate eligibility they may not stay. I hope they do. They have skills. Not Chapman or Sheppard skills but that’s pretty high level. I’m more than willing to be patient and hope they are as well.

What were your absolute musts that needed to happen….

In Popes 1st year? Entirely new team, no real recruiting class, etc…

I only had 3:

1. Beat Louisville. They started from scratch just like us. Definitely not a gimme.

2. Beat Ark and have an all around better season. (Better seed and go further in tourney)

3. 7 seed or better and win a game or two in the tournament.

Now….expectations have already changed a little. Let’s get #1 out of the way today!

Cal visited Ament, who says he will visit UK

Ament says he plans to visit Arkansas, along with Duke, Kansas State, and Kentucky.

Programs like Tennessee, Louisville, Texas, and Notre Dame have already hosted him on campus.

Best Christmas Movie

  • 2 - A Christmas Story

    Votes: 9 20.9%
  • 4 - National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

    Votes: 34 79.1%

This is it! Which movie will have their one shining moment?

Christmas Vacation comes off a stunning blow out of the number eight seed. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is a holiday comedy masterpiece that brilliantly balances childhood wonder with sharp, irreverent adult humor. The film captures the magic and chaos of the season through the eyes of both Clark Griswold, whose relentless pursuit of the "perfect" Christmas spirals into hilarity, and the younger family members, who bring a touch of innocence amid the madness. Its humor is both slapstick and sly, from outrageous light displays to pitch-perfect family banter, making it endlessly entertaining for all ages. Beneath the wild antics lies a heartfelt story of family resilience and the enduring hope that Christmas can bring, no matter how many catastrophes come wrapped in tinsel.

The second seed barely eked out a victory over tth most beloved recent Christmas movie, Elf, despite attempts and insults from Buddy, himsELF. “A Christmas Story” is a timeless holiday classic that perfectly captures the charm and chaos of childhood during the festive season. With its warm nostalgia, the film transports viewers to a simpler time, filled with snow-covered streets, department store Santas, and the universal longing for that perfect Christmas gift. Its humor is sharp yet heartwarming, as Ralphie’s earnest quest for a Red Ryder BB gun is hilariously thwarted by the refrain, “You’ll shoot your eye out!” The quirky, relatable family dynamics and whimsical narration bring a unique, comedic lens to the trials of growing up, making it a film that continues to resonate with audiences of all ages. Few holiday films strike such a perfect balance of wit, sentimentality, and sheer joy.

Dang - Trayanum now in the portal

So...Wilcox, Patterson and Mizell. Is that it? 3 RBs is not sufficient as we saw this year. Trayanum hardly played this year due to injury. Is another team really going to spend significant $$ on luring him? Surely, at least at this moment, he had to see himself at RB1 or RB1a. Without the promise of big NIL money, why move on? I would've expected him to get 1/3 or more of the carries next year assuming he stayed healthy. He came out of fall camp as RB1 so the staff must have liked him.

Three Point Rate & Where UK Ranks

According to Bart Torvik.

Kentucky ranks 8th in the SEC in percentage of field goal attempts being from THREE. They are at 42.4%, and it has steadily gone down over the last few weeks. This is 113th in the country overall, which indicates that the SEC, largely, understands that this is the best way to play offense. At the same time, Kentucky is only 7th in the SEC and 95th overall in 3-point FG percentage, a number that has also tanked recently.

For this team to reach its peak, it likely need to increase in both attempts and percentage.

Tennessee, Auburn and Oklahoma, all are HIGHER than Kentucky in both categories.

Mississippi State Football Turmoil

Well, no matter how bad things have been here, they are nowhere near as bad as they are at Mississippi State right now.

They are losing their top guys at pretty well every position on the roster (24 so far) and all their top guys from this past season are gone; they are basically taking as many transfers as they can get their hands on. Already have 6 commits, and maybe 1 looks "good". I guess they could be getting some depth guys off the bat, but they look like the new Vandy for the time being. Mississippi State has almost always been really low in revenue in the SEC, and even behind a lot of Big 12 and ACC programs. I think with financials mattering more than ever in the NIL era they will probably be bottom 2-3 most years of the SEC now. Before they relied on the in-state pipeline, but with NIL, that's getting depleted by other programs coming in and taking a lot of that talent. They are 40th nationally in revenue, with the next lowest SEC program being 10 spots higher (Vandy doesn't report).

Portal Commits:
-A backup CB from Kennesaw State; yes a backup from a 2-10 year 1 FBS program
-A backup EDGE rusher from Northern Illinois. Actually listed 3rd at DE on Ourlads.
-A backup WR on a bad Michigan State offense
-A backup WR on a bad Oklahoma offense
-An EDGE rusher from NC State who was hurt the last 8 games. Had okay stats the year prior
-A solid safety from Old Dominion, but thats the closest thing to a bright spot so far, and it's not a great one

I mean, when you are getting backups from MAC and CUSA schools, something is wrong. Even as depth guys that's not a good sign for an SEC school. To get G5 backups as your backups.

OT: Online Persona vs. In Person Persona

We have a lot of interesting people here. I see some folks that are kind and nice. I see some folks who are combative and mean, a some in between. It got me wondering if your online personality matches your in person peronality.

I'd say I'm pretty much the same except in person, I curse a lot. Whereas I don't on here for obvious reasons. I'm not combative in either realm. I let people think what they want.
