FB Recruiting New tight end offer out

Rohan Jones is a 6'3, 235-pound tight end who played for Montana State this year.

He had 30 catches for 370 yards and nine touchdowns this year. Can stretch the field. Had a 70 yard reception against Idaho State and touchdowns in nine different games. Was a nice player at Maine the year before that.

End of Half game announcer...

"The call on the floor, two point bucket - the play is under review". I heard this on the telecast before they cut the feed to SEC Network at the end of the first half. He only shot that 3 from about 45 ft lol. Did anyone else here that craziness? They need to smoke less dope if one of the refs actually questioned that as 2 vs 3. That was beyond NBA 3 range ffs.

It's Fine To Start Being Optimistic About UK Football for 2025

I'm starting to think we are learning from previous mistakes. I feel we are targeting more seasoned and proven players in the portal. Hester is an example of taking a flyer on dude who made splash plays, we lacked those. The move to the Nebraska rb seemed pragmatic budget wise, NFL doesn't pay high on runningbacks, why should we? Seems like they are taking the o-line and it's depth much more seriously. QB is seasoned and has experience at least. Stoops seems reengaged some. I'm hoping for a bowl game. I wish we had a Spring game with all the moving pieces coming together. Will our coordinators have to dumb down our schemes to accommodate the reoccurring churn each year?

Something that might be little but so BIG in my eyes…

Pope doesent take a player out for the rest of the first half when he picks up a 2nd foul. Something we got used to the last 15 years under cowipari. He would take a player completely out of the game by doing that. And he’s still doing that Arkansas. And there’s already been a few instances this year where we notice it’s made a big difference in big games this year by letting a player keep playing after 2 fouls.

OT: Cronin Rails Officiating

I'm sure like me, many of you aren't the biggest Cronin fans- but I like what he did here. Said his team was taken out of the game and calls for better officiating in the game. Would assume he'll face a fine from the league, and good for him for speaking his mind and sticking up for his team.

Momentum swing last night

Great win. Going to nitpick a bit.

We were up 14 and Matthews drove down the lane for a runner. Ball circled the rim without going down.

Think we had 3 guys in the lane? We allowed Matthews to get back into the play and bat the ball outside. The sequence culminated in Matthews hitting a three to cut it to 11.

I’m calling a timeout right there if I’m Pope. There are moments in a game where you can almost measure the momentum swinging the other way. That was one of those moments.

I “knew” we were in for a fight. Then JR missed a three on the other end, and MSU hit another 3 to cut it to 8.

If I didn’t take the TO when we cut it to 11, I definitely call it at 8.

All’s well that ends well, and there is something to be said for letting players work through issues on their own.

But sometimes you can just feel it.

Basketball ***** Postgame Press Conference Notes - UK vs. Mississippi State *****

KENTUCKY HC MARK POPE UK RADIO NETWORK Q&A:

* What a fun night. MSU is a great team, and our guys were just really tough down the stretch. They answered the bell in a massive way.

* The last 4 minutes of the first half, our guys were outstanding in having perfect possessions to go into halftime with some momentum.

* On handling the road game better than at UGA... We talked going into the game about how the 40 minutes on the court should be your safest place. All we have to worry about is what is in front of you right now. There were a lot of momentum swings, but we stayed right here, right now and moved on to the next play.

* Guys were really good about getting into their second and third actions, coming to the ball, really making plays for each other. If you had told me 21 assists and 13 turnovers against THIS team going into the game, I would have taken it in a heartbeat.

* Lamont Butler played so great off two feet in the game. Everything he's been working on in practice, he showed. He's a terrific leader and a warrior.

* On Robinson and Almonor's shooting tonight... Really proud of Jaxson. Had a tough 6-7 days. He was really conscious about getting work in recently and a new looking focus. Told me he got distracted thinking about his future and how missed shots my impact him. The game treats you right when you approach it like he did. Stop worrying about what has happened/what might happen and just go out and play. Unbelievable special performance by both he and Ansley. We told you all when he got here that Ansley was going to win us some games this year.
