The problem we seem to be having on this board is the difference between a player contact vs a targeted player. Most of the guys we have been listed with are not likely targets, only contacts. Probably over hyped by agents.

Don’t get me wrong we have certainly lost some players we wanted - Dent, Gwath and Bol, Demary. But, not the vast majority of the ones people think we hit hard.

Tyrone Riley’s dad last night in LA, he tells me. Freshman wing from SF. Always loved the measurables, future pro. Good list of schools after him.

He has a nice looking jumper & would pair great with Oweh, he doesn’t have to come here and avg 20 but looks like he could easily get 12-14/game. I feel like we are holding out for smith but doesn’t he have a camp in the summer in Indiana?? Makes me think he’s not entering and definitely leaning to Pierre over Lowe. But I’m sure there’s a plan but I do like the looks of Pierre with Oweh.

Per reporting. That's a bummer. I was guessing that he would likely enter the Portal, and then hoping UK could land him. It seems to me that he has done about all he can at OSU for his career, but what do I know about his situation (nothing - answered my own question)?

Are we losing out on the best players because of being outspent by the bigger money teams? Or is Mark Pope looking for players that fit his system? You gotta have some slashers who can score to break down defenses, and Oweh isn’t enough.

Since we are once again in the portal season and we discuss many options, wanted to ask about the “fit the system “ concept and how important it is . Obviously, we are talking about how they would fit in Pope offensive system but I think the discussion could be expanded a bit.

I will start here and I will add more later . In theory , if you are a club with tons of resources, and have a coach with a proven winning record, you could say I am only going to recruit and bring in players that fit my superior system.

On the flip side, other coaches with less resources at their disposal , adapt their style of play and game tactics to the players they can get.

There is also the option, where coaches will say: “ I want the best of the best” and I will make it work because talent beats experience or coaching style .

How important do you think it is to get players that fits the system vs getting the best of the best , super talented players?

Which approach is better for Kentucky?

How much emphasis should Pope put on skills shooting, passing , making reads, vs row talent and athleticism that he can in time develop into great shooters, passers, but also play defense?

I prefer Florida but think Auburn wins. Hope Houston has game of their lives.

All 12 guys fit in our system well. No one does not fit.

The contrary is Kansas, had a ton of highly ranked portal players and was disaster last season

Pope's evaluation ability is solid, hopefully recruiting can also be fine.

Been in the hospital since Jan 28th... Had major surgery on my intestines... Had to have some cut off on both the big and little one... Plus my appendix was ruptured... I was full of a leaky gut and had a blocked colon also... Great huh???
Going to take a few weeks to get going again, I am so weak it's hard to get around... Well enough of the good news on me...
Missed all the BB games for UK... Missed spring practice also I see....
