Contrarian: Glad we lost one early

I’m always ok when UK loses one early. Puts the fear of god into the team. Lets them know there are better teams at this point in time. Makes them work harder. Pay more attention. Put in extra work.

Pay more attention to scouting reports. Allows the coaches to gather data on weaknesses and make plans to correct them. Allows the team to experience adversity and away from home. Helps bond them together.

This whole new crew was 7-0. Praised and exulted by BBN. Jumped to #4. Got served some humble pie. Won’t hurt will help put that chip back on their shoulders.

When I look back our 96 98 12 title teams all took an early loss. Motivated them. Scared them. Forced them to buckle down.

I wasn’t expecting much of this put together roster but they have showed some grit.

I firmly believe that early loss helps long term. I’m great with the start. Much better than expected.

Hypothetical question ... Sheppard & Dillingham

Let's say we have the exact same roster, but we have Sheppard and Dillingham as Freshmen in place of Noah and Perry. I'm assuming everyone would've transferred in, as Sheppard and Dilly would've been unproven incoming Freshmen. Like I said, this is a hypothetical for fun and discussion.

Do you think Reed and Dilly would start in place of Butler and Oweh, as Pope would opt for offense over defense ?? I see it as a tough, yet interesting question, as Reed and Dilly were fabulous shooters. I definitely think they would take minutes from Chandler, Kriisa, Brea and Robinson ... how many, not sure. ????

One thing for certain, that would be a pretty incredible roster, top-to-bottom, assuming Sheppard and Dillingham showed up like they did last year ... and I think they certainly would !! It would be a HELLUVA roster !!!

I don't think Butler and Oweh on defense cannot be under-appreciated, but Sheppard and Dillingham were great scorers and 3-point shooters. I think Butler and Oweh would be our staring guards in this scenario, fwiw, but Reed and Dilly would get very serious clock.

MITCH!!! Question about Athletic Department, can they borrow money?

Just wondering can the athletic department borrow money? I think so? How do they build these facilities, cash up front?

With the projected additional tv monies, why not borrow $30mil, throw in some booster money, and buy out STOOPS!!

The extra tv money would pay off the buyout loan in a few years.

IF UK DOESN'T GET SUMRALL now, it will set the program back a decade.!!!

Mitch, save the football program!!!!

The WRs entering the Portal

It’s pretty telling with Dane and Brown entering the portal what was going on in the WR room.
I’ve always felt Brown was a team cancer. Instead of Dane working hard and pulling Brown his way, he fell in line behind Brown and followed. I think both were asked to leave not the other way around. Maclin was 100% underused and is coming back. This is following his comments on zero leadership in that room. Our Diva WRs are probably as much to blame about our culture shift as any position group. See ya boys. Don’t let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.

How does Kentucky football season ticket cost compare

I was wondering how does UK pay football coaches so well and how is it funded. Our coaching staff is well compensated - which we all know very well at this point in time - lol! So, I was looking at season ticket sales and the average prices UK charges for those tickets. Here is a fact that most people probably don't know. This past year Kentucky season football tickets averaged around $500 per ticket and the least expensive ticket was $300. I would estimate roughly half of the tickets had an average K Fund contribution of $500 additional per ticket. So, the average ticket cost for Kentucky season tickets would be $750 per ticket. UK sold 40,000 season tickets which produced about $30 million in revenue.

Now lets compare that to Tennessee's season football ticket cost. The least expensive Tennessee season ticket was $860. The average cost of Tennessee season football ticket was $1,865. Tennessee sold 70,000 season football tickets. Tennessee's season ticket football sales produced and annual revenue of roughly $130 million dollars. Tennessee ,just from the sale of season tickets, generates over 4 times as much money or $100 million dollars MORE than Kentucky in season football ticket revenue.

Maybe this helps everyone understand why Tennessee now has the defending National champions in baseball, the number one rated men's basketball team and the number 6 rated football team. Also, next football season, Tennessee will be charging their season ticket holders an additional $12 million dollar "talent fee" that is used for NIL for football players.

Go Big Blue!

Over/ Under on Mitch

It looks like Oklahoma St. is going to try everything to get out of the buyout and get rid of Gundy. We watched Tennessee turn their own coach in for violations to get out of a buyout.
I would put my over guess at 90% that Mitch has not even explored the options with a lawyer.
We had the Frat fight three years ago. Multiple players suspended for 4 games.
A vacated season by the NCAA two years ago. Where 2 players were suspended for 4 games.
Stoops almost accepted a job a year ago. Was everything done in accordance of his contract??
I’ll bet this pattern hasn’t even been explored by Mitch.
I would put a hundred on it.
He’s just fine with the last 3 years. No need to ruffle any feathers.

Absolute Dose of Honesty

As some of the most knowledgeable fans in CBB, we spent the last fifteen years yelling at our tvs because we felt that we knew more than our coach about the game, and sometimes we may have been correct. I know this is a bitter pill for some of us to swallow, but we no longer are smarter than our coach. The faster some people realize this, the better. Pope is smarter than you. He’s going to make mistakes like all coaches and he is going to analyze it and correct it. I’m sure I’ll be shunned for saying this, but I’m just speaking from the heart…we can just be fans now and enjoy what the Pope is doing.
