Hello, I'm back (again)

Not sure if anyone even remembers me LOL but I used to post under the alias IndyCat1995

Long story short, I lost access to the account because it was attached to my old college email that no longer exists. That email address was deleted after I graduated college, so I could not re-set my password I had forgotten.

Anyways, I'm ready to join this beautiful disaster yet again. Go cats!

Wallace Unamba enters the portal

Tells you a little bit about where the position battles were heading. They have better depth up front now and the competition led to some separation Unamba was on the wrong side of.

NIL wise, UK put about $3 million into its offensive line this offseason and I think they're going to see the benefits, but guys like Unamba are in a position of needing to play right away if they want a future beyond this year.

Nate Johnson (Akron) - new guard in the portal

Nate Johnson just hit the portal, he would be a senior. Decent size and seems to have good offensive and defensive numbers. I don't know if he's more of an on-ball or off-ball guard but they had a 5-11 guard who started every game this year that I'm guessing was the primary ballhandler. Not a great 3pt shooter (30%), although he shot 42% on 50 attempts as a freshman so I think it would improve.

Doesn't seem like a homerun for the last guard spot, but we could do worse and the options are dwindling.

I consider myself a die hard football fan. Is this nuts?

I love UK football. Or I did for 35+ years and far worse teams.

This year I am letting my loge season tickets go that I had to pay a hefty donation to have the right to buy 5-6 years ago. Is that insane? The ten percent increase for that product rubs me the wrong way.

On one hand I feel like a fool to let them go. They will be snatched up by some business in about 2 minutes. On the other hand no reason to pay for something that has made you miserable for two years in person.

My take on Wilkerson

based on the information we have at the current time. I will admit I thought he was going to go to Kentucky. We passed along information as we got it, and another SEC coach who felt them out did say Monday morning it was going to be UK. The circle did pass along yesterday that it was between Kentucky and Indiana. However, the timing was more surprising than anything. The agent told me just before lunch that nothing was concrete, but a decision would be made by the weekend. There was nothing in that to make me think it would be over within three hours. I firmly believe something happened today to flip him. If it was just being "another guy" at Kentucky that tells you how good the roster is going to be. It may be difficult to get a big time guard the rest of the way if those are the circumstances.

If Kentucky had gone almost 40 years without a title

Would fan support still be the same? Would this message board be a ghost town?

That’s why I think IU fans are in a cult. I was raised to hate two teams: Indiana University and the University of Tennessee. But even I can acknowledge while UT fans are pumpkin humping cousin lovers they do not put up with bullshit or losing very well and a riot could break out at any moment.

IU fans just smile and take it. Tell you all about ROBERT MONTGOMERY KNIGHT. Wave a popcorn box around from a meaningless game. Tell you how great that undefeated team in 76 was. They don’t remember it but their great grandparents were there! They all look like they’re next in line to drink the Flavor Aid at Jonestown.

I look forward to kicking their asses again.

/end rant.

Asking for Prayers – Going Through a Rough Season

I know this is a little different from the usual UK basketball talk and transfer portal, but I figured this community might be one of the few places where I could be honest for a moment.

The past six months have been tough. I’ve been unemployed, with no unemployment eligibility (Thanks 1099) and doing everything I can to find steady work. I've applied to countless jobs, from design-related roles to content and support work, but it's been hard finding something that meets even my basic financial needs. I'm in the Louisville area.

I’m not posting this to ask for anything or make anyone uncomfortable, it's like a last resort sort of thing. I just wanted to share where I’m at in case someone here might know of a company hiring for remote roles, freelance gigs, or even just has advice. My background is in web design, UI/UX, and creative content, anything in those areas (or adjacent) would mean a lot right now.

I do have a GoFundMe up that I started as a last resort to stay afloat while job hunting, and I’m trying to keep faith that things will turn around soon. Anyway, thank you for letting me share this. If nothing comes of it, that’s okay. Just being able to say something out loud helps a little.

Appreciate this community more than you know.
