Football Transfer Portal: Sting Factor 3.0

The Fearbry one is tough. He was a really good looking prospect. Ideally, he'd be sliding into a starting spot and that's one less you have to worry about. Now both major backups, he and Matthews, are gone and the LB depth chart is wiped out.

Let’s talk about the Back Cuts…..

The reason physical teams give us trouble is because they pressure the perimeter and make it difficult to move the ball for good perimeter shots.

Same was the case last night, but in a great 2nd half adjustment Pope demanded aggressive cuts behind the pressure, and Kriisa, Garrison, Williams, and Jax all made REALLY nice passes to find the cutter.

This offense is going to be even better once everyone buys in.

Kriisa is tough as nails

I just watched the replay of the injury

The fact that he recovered, got back on Defense, made an effort to get a stop, had the announcers thinking it was just a cramp, AND walked off himself without acting like he was in a ton of pain tells you a lot.

I don’t like everything about his game, but he’s a wildcat and a gamer. Much respect and here’s to hoping he had a quick recovery.

Should we keep making more pennies?

I see absolutely NO reason for us to continue making or using pennies. I think the US Mint should stop making them immediately, and announce that in 3 years pennies would no longer have value as a currency (but could still as a collectable), and thus should be exchanged for larger denominations of US currency. I'm not sure we shouldn't do the same with nickels too, as a 2nd step, maybe stop making those the same day the pennies are no longer currency.

Since US dollars and coins were established, inflation has increased their value 25-fold, so $1 in 1800 is worth $25 now (maybe more). Meaning the lowest US currency denomination in 1800 (penny) is worth 25 cents now. That supports the concept of getting rid of the penny, nickel, and even dime. However, I think also getting rid of the dime that quick might be too big of a change (no pun intended) for some people.

It costs about 3 cents for the US Mint to produce a penny, about 10 cents to produce a nickel, and about 5 cents to produce a dime. More reasons to stop making pennies and nickels, it cost more to make them than they are worth.

Some would argue that getting rid of the penny would harm the poor. Well yes, prices would have to be rounded, often up as opposed to down. But rounded down would happen often. Why are prices often like $1.99, $2.99, $399? Because it gives the appearance that they are significantly less than $2, $3, $400. Many retailers would rather risk making a fraction less per purchase, to not scare away one person from making the purchase (due to the appearance of a higher price). So, I think you would see some items that were say $2.99 become $2.95 instead of $3.00. If only 20% were rounded down & the other 80% were rounded up, then the overall cost across all purchases would be approximately unchanged.

Post Gonzaga Aike Model Update

We actually slipped one spot. Something you see a lot when two good teams play. They both knock each other down some. We dropped by 0.17 and Gonzaga dipped by 0.26.

I think it’s worth pointing out that 20 teams are currently projected to win 2 tournament games or better. Obviously only 16 can actually accomplish this.

45 teams are currently projected to win 1+ tournament games. Again, only 32 can pull this off.

What this basically means is that at least at this point in the season, there is a lot more strength at the top of college basketball than in recent seasons.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out once we get into conference play and quality meets quality. May have more effects like we saw last night, with 2 good teams pulling each other down.

For the record, no team has won the tournament in the years I’ve been modeling that wasn’t at least a 2 entering the tournament.

Those two late Gonzaga threes in OT......

........first one with about 2 min left- Nembhart goes to shoot, loses the ball, then punches it to a teammate (could have been a travel as he was first to touch it?)- then gets the ball back and buries a three. Ouch.

2nd one- Hickman has Brea literally draped all over him- the only other thing Brea could have done was foul him- and he drains it. DAGGER.

Our 7 point OT lead was essentially gone, and we could have folded. But our guys kept fighting!

Probably accurate; CBS Predicts UK Will Be #4 In Tomorrow's AP Poll

One never knows for sure, but looking ahead, there should be little change over the next 2 weeks or so:

Sumrall staying put

Thought everyone on here would be happy to hear this. I’d Imagine this is because of his ideal win now: playoff potential at Tulane, coupled with the possibility of his alma Mater opening up next year.

Unrelated: I think next year might be stoops last regardless, if he gets us to 8-4 or 7-5 he will take another job (Iowa open?). If we suck again, why get into such nastiness.
