I know we did this at least once before the season started. And many were predicting 18-20 wins (some even less). I think now most have probably upgraded their expectations.

As a Statistician, I can't help but come up with my # predicted wins using estimated probabilities of winning each game.

Colgate 95% (I would have said 99% but we might play it without both PGs)
UL 90%
Ohio St (N) 80%
Brown 99%
Florida 75%
at UGA 65%
at MSU 60%
TAMU 80%
Bama 65%
at Vandy 65%
at UT 35%
Ark 85%
at Ole Miss 60%
USC 95%
UT 65%
at Texas 60%
Vandy 90%
at Bama 35%
at Okl 60%
Auburn 65%
LSU 90%
at Missouri 60%

So, my expected value calculation of wins/losses is 15.74 - 6.26, adding the current 8-1, then rounding that would put us at 24-7.

Did anyone else catch the ESPN graphic about UK's losing streak during the game Saturday night?

Granted I was half asleep and may have saw it wrong but I think they had a graphic showing "What was at stake" and said the Zags had a 3 game losing streak to top 5 opponents and UK had a 5 game losing streak to top 10 opponents. Is their fact checking that horrible or did they just flat out ignore the fact we beat their beloved Duke team 2 weeks ago who was ranked in the top 10 at the time?

Another metric to keep an eye on.

This isn't brand new news (about nine months old) but I don't recall us discussing it here. Replaces Jeff Sagarin's ratings, which Jeff retired. Bart seems like a stand-up guy. One day we'll see our own @Aike in an interview like this.

Our BOT is just as stupid

With the Calipari tenure and Stoops tenure falling apart. The two major sources of revenue the BOT chose to extend Barnharts contract to 2028. We still had till 2026 to extend him , but WTF, let’s do it 2 years early.
Why not wait and see how things unfolded?? We were clearly in deep decline in both programs.
I guess the reason we have a 44 million buyout for a 12 year tenured coach is he was just following the stupid contract given to him.
I just hope I live long enough to have an AD serious about winning in football.
We are stuck till 2028 with Barnhart.
We are stuck with Stoops till 2031.

OT: Proposed changes to 6A HS football playoffs in Arizona

This sounds a little wonky to me... We are very top heavy here. About 6 teams dominate yearly.
Does KY, now, do anything like this?

According to sources, the 2025 Open proposal, if passed by the AIA, would also change the 6A playoff bracket would work. It will start as a 20-team tournament with the top four teams receiving byes and automatically moving into Round 2 of the Open.

Seeds five through 12 would play in the first round. The winners of those four games would advance to the remaining eight-team Open bracket. The losers of those first-round games will go into the 6A playoff bracket and receive the top four seeds.

The thirteen through 20 seeds in that initial top 20 will play each other for the other four spots in 6A. So there will be two eight-team brackets that will play out the rest of the weeks for state championships -- and Open and a 6A.

Only schools receiving a bye at the conclusion of the regular season will be the top four seeded teams of the Open to avoid extending the season a week longer than usual.

Throwback: Who remembers the Matt Jones/Marc Maggard saga?

While browsing Twitter today, two Star Wars (I am a huge fan) bloggers that I follow, who both have credible sites, were fighting like cats and dogs, accusing one of stealing info and not crediting the other. However, it seems to be occurring more often between the two and I couldn't help but be reminded of the Matt Jones/Marc Maggard feud. Who here remembers that ordeal? It was around ten years ago if I remember correctly and for me personally, it provided a lot of comedy. I remember checking KSR back then to read disses against ole "Frosted Tips" more than for UK insight. It was also discussed quite a bit on this board and was related to the recruitment of some players (Patterson/Lucas, Eloy Vargas, etc). I just figured I'd see if any other RR members recall those "good ole days" lol

Off Topic: PSA for bourbon lovers

Meijer in Richmond has a seller specific single barrel of Green River. No age statement but it’s straight so it’s at least 4 years old, and 124.4 proof. Regular Green River is really good stuff, especially for the price, and they have bottles of this for $59.99. First time I’ve personally seen a Green River single barrel. I have the regular full proof and it’s excellent. Anyway, have at it.

All-SEC team

Raynor - 1st team, no brainer imo
B. Brown - 2nd team all-purpose, 1st team return, that sounds about right since it's mainly about his return skills
Eli Cox - 3rd team, you've GOT to be kidding me; he was manhandled multiple plays every single game; in no universe could he possibly be the 3rd team All-SEC center; imo, has not improved one bit since his FR year and the argument could be made he regressed
D. Walker - 3rd team, I've gotta say I think this is fair; was not the one-man wrecking crew we all thought he'd be; yes, he had to fight double teams and uncalled holding, but he's been touted as a top 15 NFL draft pick and there were not many games where he was dominant; his pedestrian year certainly surprised me as I thought he'd be a stud who spent half of his time in the opponent's backfield

In light of Georgia's predicament

Do the conference championship games become optional or obsolete? Regardless of the outcome, both Texas and UGa were in the playoffs. Anyone believe Kirby thinks getting a bye week was worth losing his starting QB and his punter? If Georgia sits out, they play potentially one more game but with Beck healthy.

17 games for a college team is too many, imo. For the B10 and SEC, the conference championship game meant almost nothing (one can make a good argument that Oregon at #1 has a tougher draw than if they'd lost their championship game) except another chance of losing a key player. The last game of the NFL season sees a lot of backups play if there's nothing riding on a win. For the other conferences, at least this year, the conference championship game did mean something. Will the B10 and SEC allow teams to skip it?

FB Recruiting THE WAR ROOM!

** Kent State EDGE rusher Kameron Olds reported an offer from Kentucky tonight. Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, LSU, and Virginia have all offered Olds in addition to Kentucky. He had 42 tackles, six sacks, and seven TFL on the season as one of the better edge rushers in the MAC.

** In addition to Tulane's Darian Mensah, we have heard of interest in Liberty quarterback Kaidon Salter. The question with Mensah is whether the NIL would be right. Apparently there is some real interest from Salter but we aren't saying that's the direction they're moving in right now. Just a name to know.

** Chad Simmons reported that Kentucky is one of the schools in play for Syracuse cornerback Marcellus Barnes. We have since heard there is interest there. Not sure how far along it is but definitely a target at this point.

** There are several interior offensive line options we have heard would be interesting but not all of them in the portal. Just a good reminder that there are a lot more names that are going to come out and when they do we will be in a position to mention things as they happen. But a lot of guys are making decisions behind the scenes.

** UNC center Austin Blaske played the entire season and logged a 66.4 PFF grade. He was at UGA before he went to UNC and played in 15 games there in Athens. He could be an interesting option.

** We're hearing that Western Carolina tackle Derek Simmons is likely to take an official visit to Kentucky. It has since been reported that will be Dec. 16. Working on the date for that but that is a good sign as he's pretty coveted. Climbed up level by level, year by year in college to date. I can tell you that right now it looks like he will not be the only offered portal OT visiting that weekend but more on that later.

** USC WR Kyron Hudson could very well be a player of interest in the portal for Kentucky. He had 38 receptions for 462 yards and three scores this year for the Trojans. Had good games against LSU and UCLA.

** Malachi Coleman is a receiver from Nebraska I heard could be worth paying attention to. He's 6'5 and Kentucky is definitely looking for size on the outside. He was a Rivals100 prospect and the No. 1 player in the state of Nebraska coming out (No. 60 overall in the Rivals100) a couple of years ago. However, at this time I think he's just an eval guy, not a top target as of yet. Not sure he is fluid/explosive enough.

** Chad Simmons reported that Kentucky is one of the schools in play for Syracuse cornerback Marcellus Barnes. We have since heard there is interest there. Not sure how far along it is but definitely a target at this point. Will profile some of these guys at greater length as time frees up.

** We have also confirmed Kentucky's interest in South Alabama cornerback Jordan Scruggs. PFF gave him a stellar 80.3 grade this season including a 79.9 coverage mark and he was also solid in run support.

** Nevada OT Isaiah World is going into the transfer portal and he is going to be a sought-after player. I would expect Kentucky to be involved but others as well. Locking up a guy or two like that early would help the forecast a lot.
