I was told that after the player meeting yesterday the feeling among most around the program is that Stoops is likely to be back next year.

The people I initially spoke with about this came from the perspective of "well yeah, where else would he go," and that is still the word I am hearing. Iowa has been the one that folks have talked about but unless that opens up the question remains. When it comes to the money, my understanding is there are good reasons for why would stay for it beyond just wanting to cash the biggest check possible.

Heard this one was a possibility but couldn't confirm.

Promising prospect from a couple of years ago who couldn't crack the rotation this year for Kentucky's secondary.

I don’t know if they score enough to beat us. We average 17ppg more than they do. If we are cold from three again it could be a long night for us, but only if they sag off. If they don’t, we should burn them in the paint like we did GA State. Their big is their second best player so it would be nice to have BG back to give him a different look and help tire him out. They aren’t as deep as us either. If Butler or Oweh can limit their lead guard to his average, I think we win fairly easily. I don’t think our bunch is going to lose composure in front of a hostile crowd. Should be a fun game!

Welcome to the CatsIllustrated Stupid Underdog Pick Contest. Each week the odds are gathered from the Oddstrader web page (usually on Sunday night) and posted in a thread on CatsIllustrated (which we will hopefully get pinned for convenience). This contest runs for the entire football season (the bowls are treated as one really long week).

There are several ways to win: there are weekly winners, the person with the highest cumulative point total after the season is over is the overall winner but we recognize the contestants that have the most correct picks also.

How do you get points? Select the underdog (second team listed in each game) and have that team pull the upset. The bigger the dog, the bigger the reward but the longer the odds.

Some rules that we need to keep things running smoothly:

1) You should make your pick before the first game of the week has kicked off. Your pick may be invalidated otherwise. I can't know with the new Rivals format that you didn't delete a pick that didn't win and then post a pick from a later game in hopes of getting a winner. You can change your pick before the first game of the week has started by editing your pick or deleting the old pick and making a new post. To change your pick after the first kick off of the week, leave the original post alone, make a new post and indicate that you want to change your pick in that new post. I'll verify that you can change it manually.

2) If you make your pick after the first game of the week kicks off, it may be invalidated. Make your pick before the first kickoff of the day or pick a game that is played on a later date. I might post that you can make picks a bit later in that day in the "Don't forget to..." thread, but don't count on it.

3) If you pick the favored team instead of the underdog, we all laugh at you. Ok, we don't but you can't expect to get points in SUP for that.

4) You can appeal an invalidation by posting in that week's thread, include what you think is wrong.

5) Don't edit your picks after the first game of the week has kicked off.

Understand that a perl script is scoring this, if you make the spelling of the teams intentionally obtuse or you are just really bad at spelling, your pick might be missed. If you want to tell us all about the underdogs you thought you might choose and then tell us about the one you finally did pick, you might be surprised which one the script finds.

Duke comes into Rupp next year for the sec/ACC challenge? Since it’s 3 more years before we meet again I feel like that’s something they might put on the schedule. That could have potential of being one of the top 5 biggest games in rupp. Duke has never played at rupp correct? Against Ky atleast

I like this dude. He's a really solid bench piece. Always plays under control, strong, and really solid on open looks. I really like what he brings. Maybe a bit of an under appreciated player. Actual legit depth. Glad we have a senior like that on the bench.

We just lost a promising young wr coach, yet we still have guys like Buffano on staff.

Is there any reasonable explanation for something like this? Look at his resume. Look at the safety play. They're clearly poorly coached

Give the OC full autonomy. And just focus on Defense

Fire Wolf, pull Marrow off Tight ends, and Boulware off RBs

Let Hamdan hire who he wants for O-line, TEs, WRs, QBs, and RBs.

I know it’s early, and I know he’s not the most accurate but I still think this is fun to look at.

Currently has us as the 2 seed out West with Gonzaga as our 1. Also has us potentially facing Arkansas in round 2. Believe at the start of the year most had us as a 6 seed.

Just came across this alternate angle of the Clash Peters foul and was impressed with how within a second of the foul our assistant coaches stepped in to hold back our bench players from intervening/potentially getting technicals/ejected. I imagine this is relatively normal and assistant coaches plan for these scenarios, but after seeing all the fights in football on Saturday I thought it was funny.

Its VERY hard to have any type of optimism going into next year but tomorrow is signing day and Im just wondering if we actually land anyone? It feels more important to hang on to who we have (loosing Davis to Mizzou was a kick in the bean bags). Now not signing a RB in this class looms large. A group of Davis, Patterson and Wilcox looked good for next year but thats not happening now and who knows if Wilcox even stays.

There doesnt seem to be many options left to possibly sign tomorrow.

4* CB Dawayne Galloway- no idea where he is heading- took an OV to Arizona St last month
4* DT Christian Ingram - in his top 3 but looks to be either USC or South Carolina
3* JUCO Nose Seven Cloud- would be a good get but some tough competition- Tenn, UGA, Auburn, South Carolina, UF, Mizzou
3* S Grant Grayton (Minnesota commit)

Clearly we need to really crush it in the portal but signing Galloway and Cloud would be nice!

It seems that when Stoops was doing well here he was recruiting guys who were either 1, 2 and 3 stars who were severely underrated and had a chip on their shoulder and wanted to prove how good they were. He seemed to be able to relate with his "lunch pail" attitude with those guys because they had the same personality. However, over the last few seasons we have been able to get more 4 and 5 star guys that don't seem to have the same personality. They are more guys who have been coddled and made to think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. They aren't cut of the same cloth where they have to work harder than everyone else because they are athletically or physically more gifted than most. Is it possible that Stoops just can't relate and therefore can't coach those types of personalities? Does he need to refocus his recruiting efforts on guys with that chip on their shoulder and work hard attitude?

…I’m a little anxious about the next two games…

We will get Clemson and Gonzaga’s best…big game for them - and us…
