Does Stoops deserve a chance???

Being the winningest coach in program history does have some weight. This is not a feeling post this is an actual honest post about does he get at least a chance to fix things.

Every coach goes through these kinds of seasons and we at UK are not immune to them. I mean it’s not like we have a great football tradition of excellence. Stoops came in and changed things, but the last 3 yrs has been awful to say the least. We have had some things that didn’t go as we planned and some recruits that just didn’t pan out at all. It happens guys just get dubbed one way and it never translates. I get that Hamden and the offense….well sucked but also not the right QB and the Oline was god awful to help anyone out. I mean we all saw it can’t run routes when QB is having to scramble at the snap. That’s not offensive football nor at times coaching when guys just aren’t good but you have to play the games anyway.
We aren’t the only ones to have a horrible season look at Okla St those dudes were like 14th to start win 3 games. I hate that we looked as bad as we did all year, but wouldn’t you want a chance to fix things.

No feelings in this just honest talk about giving a chance to turn things around.

Mack Brown out at UNC- Sumrall?

I just saw that UNC fired Mack Brown today. I don’t like that at all. Gotta think Sumrall will be at the top of their list and UNC would be a good fit for him. It wasn’t looking like any SEC jobs will be opening up this off season but not one of the better ACC jobs is open. UK needs to figure it out asap with Stoops or we likely will miss out on Sumrall!

KENTUCKY HC MARK STOOPS Q&A:

* Disappointing end to a disappointing season. Give credit to Louisville. They came in very motivated. Jeff Brohm and his staff kept us off-balance.

* With all the turnovers we had, we never gave ourselves a good shot. Took the hope away when we got the score to cut it to 20-7, then had another turnover.

* We've been on the right side of this one for many years, and it's not very much fun to be on the wrong side of it.

* We have to get back to being tough and disciplined and fundamental. I accept responsibility for that not being the case this season.

* A lot of moving pieces in the weeks to come, and I'm motivated to get this fixed. Resources are in place to get it fixed and build a very good football team.

* On Eli Cox speaking to the media earlier this week and saying the culture isn't right, how do you tell the fans you can get this fixed.... Stoops says turnover is real in the current landscape of CFB. Not everybody has massive turnover, but some do. It might be the new normal to turnover 35-40 spots on the roster.

* On his team beating itself the last 2-3 years... No easy way around that question, we haven't found a way to avoid it. Every level of the team needs to be better.

* Asked what the pitch is to guys who want to stay... We'll cross that bridge when we get to it, but I told the guys if they want to be back, they have to get to work and get back to who we are. If you don't want that, don't come back.

* On BVG... Not for me to talk about that. I'll let him decide if he wants to say.

* On his message to frustrated fans today... I understand. We're not happy, either. I can promise you that we'll get back to work, we'll get it fixed. The misery index goes around for everyone. I have to get excited about getting back to work on the rebuild. I can promise them we'll get back to be a team that they're proud of.

* On chances there are staff changes... Some could happen organically, but we really need cohesion. Offensively, it's important to have the continuity in place and get better. Says he watched how much GaTech improved from last year to this year watching them last night against Georgia. Hoping they can do the same here.

Worst coaching job of the season

Stoops.

Name another college coach who did a worse job, whose team underachieved more, whose players quit more even in last game against arch rival, who lost their team more this season? Coaches bickering, no discipline.

If 10% of coaches should be fired each season, is there a guy you’d put ahead of Stoops? Who did worse this year?

Mark, you’re a joke and it’s disgraceful that you won’t resign.

No discipline, poor evaluation of transfers, buddy system and control determining asst. coaching hires and whining about NIL…….

when opponents with less money than we have are killing us and winning more games, ALL have put this program where we are right now!!!

$44 million reasons why we are stuck with him, but how in the world did he ALLOW this program to get here while being from a family that KNOWS what winning football requires????!!!!! And it ain’t what is going on here in HIS OWN program now???!!!!!

Where is his competitiveness???!!!!
Where is his pride??!!!
Where is his obligation to the school paying him a top 10 salary??!!!

SAD

So what are these changes Stoops speaks of?

Ok… so the OC isn’t going anywhere unless he leaves. Stoops wants to keep the offense together. Stoops also spoke highly of Brad white as being loyal, but did mention that he (stoops) basically runs the defense. We’re already aware of the OL, but that isn’t anything new to us.

If he’s going to change everything and really get to work… but he isn’t touching the offensive side… wtf change is coming?
