Scheyer using the "we're young" excuse

Dude had 26 points. The “he’s young” argument is ridiculous. Does he need to score 50 before they stop making excuses?

I’d understand if he had a game like Robinson just had, but he clearly didn’t have a bad game. Better team just won.

That's a great damn point. It's not like Flagg had some terrible game, and he wasn't cramping either this game (which we all knew wasnt going to happen).

Scheyer is out here acting like his star player just gave a C-performance. I'd say he gave a B+ and just made some costly turnovers at the end. Let's not forget he was single handedly keeping Duke afloat in the 2nd half with a lot of those mid range shots.

How about a shout out to Carr???

Amari Williams says hello.
He replaces Carr if that group can't rebound and get stops. Mind you, I'm talking about THE BEST lineup. Not the only lineup. Notice who was and wasn't on the floor late. Carr was at the 5 predominantly. Williams or Garrison came in any dead ball going back to defense. When it gets to nut cutting time, I think that's what you'll see. Carr HAS to rebound better to make that work, but Oweh and surprisingly Brea are solid rebounders for guards.

The reason the best lineup includes Carr at the 5 is a mixed bag. He's a matchup nightmare for a true 5. Plus, teams have to guard him on the perimeter which opens the lane back up for the ball screens and the zoom/DHO stuff. When Amari is in, his man just sits in the lane. The only time the Cats really took advantage of that was early on when Amari hit Butler on a backdoor. You heard Bilas say that Duke needed to pressure Williams to take his vision away so he couldn't make that pass. It was all possible because that happened on the 2 man side of the floor. That rarely happened throughout the game though.

Scheyer using the "we're young" excuse

This. When the pressure gets to them in March, who knows if they will fold or not?
I think Duke will be fine come March barring injury like any of the other top teams. The key is to get the 7'2 kid out of the game. The Kentucky vets schooled him but he still had an impact. This Wildcat team should punish teams. Everyone just knows how to play and I can't see them let any guards just take over and drop 30 and 40 on them.

This win over #6 Duke in Catlanta has to rank with some of the best reg season wins in Kentucky history

I know, I know UK has beatin #1-#5 before in the reg season but this win just feels monumental.

We were 7 pt dogs, Duke had beatin UK 9 of the last 11 gms including 2 straight.

UK had not defeated Duke in 10 yrs.

UK has a brand new Coach and a brand new team.

We trailed by 9 at half and by 8 with 9 minutes and yet prevailed.
UK was disrespected in the preseason polls at #23.
We have had to hear about 17 yr old wonder boy Cooper Flagg all summer and how he is destined to become the #1 pick in the NBA draft.
Yet in the end he was sweating like a pig and turned it over 3 times down the stretch to cost Duke the game.
Then factor in UK hasnt sniffed a S16 in going on 6 yrs and you get the gist.

Oh make no mistake about it this win ranks up there with all the all time reg season wins!

It signals to the entire Nation….Kentucky basketball is Back!!
We've had regular season wins over #1 ranked teams before..... BUT, BUT considering how far that John Calipari had sunk the UK program to, that's what makes this win so extra special. We needed this win so bad.

The truly frightening thing about this game is this

UK just beat #6 Duke on a neutral floor and one of our best scorers, Robinson, tallied 1 pt. He came in avg double digits.

Let that sink in.

“Dangerous and deep team we are.”

This UK team has had very little time playing together. By March this team will be a well oiled machine playing for a coach that lets his players play loose & free. I had almost forgotten how fun that UK basketball used to be. Thank you John Calipari for leaving here.
