That real hard screen he put on that trash talking guard 14 that sent him to the locker room I truly believe set the tone for that beat down Kentucky gave Duke in the 2nd half man what a screen
If you have had a vaccination recently you may have recognized that when James came back from the locker room after a brief exit he was wearing a bandaid on his shoulder. They shot him up with something in the back room.

Pope on halftime adjustments (Prepare to be amazed)

Pope is making me even angrier at Cal. Such an incompetent in-game coach. Just think of what could've been accomplished, with all that talent, had Cal been at least an above average in-game coach. Just the lack of simple things that nearly every coach does.

This entire last few months feels like a TOTAL reversal and course correction for Kentucky basketball.

Out of 10 Made…

Going forward Pope has to be thinking about running more motion and screens to get more open looks for our shooters. At times our offense became stagnant and that’s when we started falling behind. Duke really guarded the three point line well and other teams will try to do the same.
I’d really like to see him work on some zone defense just for Arkansas because we all know Cal teams suck against it.
Great win!!
While I get what you are saying, I watched some of the Kansas/Michigan State game and neither team played half as much defense as Duke did last night. Most teams will not be able to defend us like Duke did. Also, all that energy they expended playing such tight defense was part of the reason they were exhausted at the end of the game.

Young players not wetting their pants

We’ve been on the losing end of that for pretty much 15 years. This is one of the first times as a Kentucky fan where I watched us win by being the clearly less talented team. Jaxson Robinson played like absolute ass, we looked completely out of synch, ton of turnovers etc and we fought and gutted out a win against a top 10 team on a huge stage. We were 7.5 pt underdogs. And it was extremely satisfying and fun and amazing. What a great job by the guys sticking together as a team and fighting. And if, in popes 3rd game, this is the type of heart and fight we can expect moving forward then look out college bball. What a great game,

Agree 100%. And one could argue that Duke losing it's composure down the stretch and tightening up WAS because of our experience, our 2nd half resurgence, and Duke having a good deal of young players maybe not ready for this moment just yet.

I think the only thing I still want to see in this new era.. is maybe a little more talent. I still suspect that what will ultimately doom UK in the tournament, will be a team like Duke that has NBA talent almost across the board. BUT.. we're getting that level of talent as soon as next year, with guys like Lewis, Moreno, and Johnson. That's really it for me.. I saw enough last night in the 2nd half to think that Pope will be just fine as far as X's and O's, game management, etc.

Just curious what your thoughts of toward the end of the game, we were shooting free throws a couple times and WIlliams was not in the game- I thought he would put him in for defense because dUKe's only offense was give the ball to Flagg, who was being guarded by a much smaller guy and let him get into the lane- maybe let Carr take him, if WIlliams is in the game and he would stop anything in the paint- maybe Pope didn't want him in the game when dUKe missed and they would foul Williams so he would have to shoot free throws- Williams was a man last night !!!!

Cancer advanced to stage 4. Planning bucket list trip to Rupp for NYE game (vs Brown).

OP would you be willing to drop your Venmo in this thread so I could send you some money for your snack of choice in Rupp? Your story has really hit home with me. I am part of BBN because of my mom who graduated from Kentucky in the 80s. She passed away from ovarian cancer in 2018. I’d love to help make your experience special.
Sorry to hear about your mother. Our family has been through a lot of loss in the last few years. My kids lost a grandpa, great grandpa (who raised my wife), and their 30 year old uncle who lived with us and took the boys to all the fun stuff my wife and I have trouble doing with our health being what it is.

She got hit hard by covid in 2021. Survived narrowly but is still on oxygen and has a lot of damage to her lungs plus her heart, kidneys, and liver to a lesser extent. She's very slowly gaining strength but is maybe 10% of what she was before. She's been hospitalized several times since. On a ventilator for 12 days last year. Our boys have been living with the fear of one or both parents dying for much of their lives. Especially our 5 year old. He doesn't even remember the mom that worked. 60+ hours a week and spent every other waking moment on them. I took over most of everything when he was little. He slept on my chest til he was 2. He's attached to me the way most kids are to mom so if I lose this battle it's gonna be really rough on him in particular. No matter what they will know their dad fought til the end for them and never gave up.

(Apologies for the rambling there. Just kind of flowed out. Understand if you don't read all that lol).

Covid thread deleted?

I’m not trying to rain on your political parade, but the incoming President happily sat back and let Dr Fauci run the country into the F’ing ground for an entire year. He also continues to this day to take credit for the LIFE SAVING vaccine.

I would love nothing more than to see so many people held to account, but I don’t see it happening.

I agree. I gave him plenty of grief for it too in the original thread. The difference is he was anti lockdown after the first shutdown period, but extended it anyway. He was absolutely against it after the second one.

Doesn't excuse his inaction but still.

The vaccines in and of themselves are fine. The problem was the lying from pharma and the fda that 1) oversold the efficacy and 2) undersold the risks.

Amari played well putting to rest for me the thought that he would struggle w an upgrade in competition. No bigger in season game against a top program and conference to prove it.
