Cal press conference last night

Yeah, I completely agree. I have some possible explanations but I don't understand all of it. He won a title. That was a big one that changed in 2012. His passion to win dropped after that, but that wasn't the biggest one. The team that nearly went undefeated until losing in the Final Four to Wisconsin really changed his outlook on winning as well. The lifetime contract in 2019 changed him, too. But the biggest part was Covid-19, in my opinion. It changed him. He's always been a bleeding heart liberal (sorry folks, I don't care about that for UK fans- don't care what your politics are if you bleed blue). But, Cal's entire outlook on life changed during Covid. We saw it immediately with his worst season in his career that next season. He started treating everyone with kid gloves. He wouldn't push players anymore. He wouldn't put wins ahead of sending players to the NBA. He decided his purpose in life was to make NBA millionaires "fighting generational poverty." UK stopped coming first. Titles stopped being the focus.

And now at Arkansas, it's the same. He just recently gave a speech about what will go on his headstone or said at his funeral and how he doesn't care about wins, about hall of fame, about winning championships, about measurable accomplishments, but about helping people. And what does that mean? He's focused on getting players to the NBA. That's it. If his teams don't win the SEC or make a Final Four or win a title, but he gets 3 into the NBA, that's success.

Now, the crazy thing is, he COULD do those things simultaneously. That's how I excused him when he called an NBA draft night in 2010 "the greatest night in UK history." I thought he would send guys to the NBA while winning titles. And he then went to a Final Four and won a title over the next 2 years. But he didn't keep it going after 2015 or so. And after Covid, he' lost the will to make it happen. He just won't push his players to make it happen because he wants them happy and healthy more than he wants them winning. I think it's a fall-back position for him. He knows he's lost his edge. Arkansas fans, I hate it for them because they've bought into the hype. And he's brought in talent, like he always does, so they love that. But they won't love the results in the end. And they'll be stuck because he will have another highly rated class coming in next year, and on. But it will take a generational talent (like Anthony Davis) to win him a title. That is just the truth.
It isn't just that he lost his will. Coach K decided to play the OAD game and became better at it than Cal. Cal was basically getting players that K didn't want. He was no longer getting the best of the OADs. Not having enough talent to overcome his lack of coaching skills sealed his fate.

What are the Dukies saying?

Maybe they can all throw their protractors on the court at the next home game.
Think computers have largely curtailed protractor use.
L
Duke doesn’t actually have fans, just guys who like to say they’d Duke fans. Because they saw 2pac wearing a Duke jersey once.
I interestingly heard recently that Tupac was really just a made up persona. He was gay, effeminate, and into plays, acting, the like. I am not criticizing or intending to sound derogatory at all. Most dook fans btw didn’t attend the school or have any connection, but rather they’re just bandwagon losers.

I believe the nominations are not 'formal' until inauguration at which time the Senate takes them up...start hearings...then vote.
No recess then for months. So I have no idea when they would try a recess appointment.
They can go on recess after the first week and only need to be away for 10 days to do recess appt. Also... old law allows the President to suspend congress for a period of time... Trump can force them to go on recess. Hasn't happened since the 1800's but it's a law.

Caleb Wilson cancels on Arky again

I'm not sure why it has to be a "dream" thought. Oweh is a tweener by NBA standards. Decent, but not great shooter. 6'5", which is small for an NBA three man, but he's also not an elite ball handler for the two-spot.

We've become so accustomed to marginal talent leaving that we expect every fringe g-leaguer to leave, but Oweh isn't even a 2nd round pick at this point.

Meanwhile, programs like UConn routinely return their g-league-level guys. Why shouldn't UK under Pope expect the same, especially in a day-and-age where NIL can pay a kid like Oweh comparable a salary to what the G-league can offer?

We need to change the way we look at these situations from here on out.
Great points. Hope all of the negative Nancys read this.

Breakdown of the full court pass

I like the play because if the worst case scenario occurred, a turnover, the ball is possessed by Duke far away from their basket with 5 seconds left.
A turnover under our basket from a short inbounds pass allows them to get a better shot up and a chance for a rebound.
I agree. Putting the ball away from our basket and closer to theirs was super smart.

I’m not sure how Gaetz is qualified to be the nation’s top law enforcement official.
Surely, there are better qualified ??

Now do Merrick Garland.... go.

Breakdown of the full court pass

Not really true. MP could have called a simple play(would have been mind bending for cow) and there would have been a no risk ball in our backcourt with likely an early foul. But, it was very smart, pretty risky, with a great reward.

Matt Gaetz is a pedophile? He should probably be in jail then. Why isn't he?
Because the FBI got caught trying to extort him for that crime with absolutely zero evidence. They dropped the investigation to get the story out of the news because the FBI was obviously corrupt as hell in that case... seems to be growing problem with that part of the government... Maybe someone can clean it up a bit. LOL

POLITICAL THREAD

Gaetz is probably going to be the best AG for what Trump wants him to do. And at this point, I’m perfectly OK with that. Amused, actually. Probably will get the ball rolling on all the resignations from DOJ lifers who’s be undercutting the MAGA agenda or who took pleasure in imprisoning the Biden admin’s political opposition.
Garland got approved with like 70 votes. I'm tired of Democrats acting like they are better at the law and constitution than us. Garland has been absolutely horrible.

POLITICAL THREAD

There are many serious conservative lawyers (even MAGA lawyers) at the state AG level, or in the Senate (Cruz for one) who would be miles better than Gaetz as AG. Gaetz is the guy at the back of class heckling the teacher.

Tulsi Gabbard endorsed Bernie Sanders in 2016. How is that a "conservative" pick?
That isn't what his coworkers say. Even saw a Democrat give him credit on being a good lawyer and tireless worker...
