Lunardi's Way Too Early Bracketology has UK as a #2 Seed

I think we'll spend some time this year on the 1 line, depending on when we drop games and to who, but ultimately end up a 2 or possibly a 3 seed. Again, depending on timing of both wins and losses. I'd love to end the regular season strong as a 1 but conference is tough and teams are hard to beat a second time. And of course...then there's the conference tourney.

We are very good but not going go undefeated. The wku game doesn't sway me much either way other than I'm glad it's behind us. Our d will win us games soon. We're very close to clicking on that side of the ball, imo. We all love points and a powerful offence but defense is what will set us apart from several very good teams late in the year. The pieces are there but still learning the system, speaking generally.
Looking forward, can you imagine how good we will be when we have stud athletes everywhere, in this system, on both sides of the ball? Like...how good would say Duke be with a stud coach and this system? The idea just takes me back to the 96 and 97 teams where we were loaded, played a similar style and the teams got better late in the year.

The very best teams seem to always have a switch that flips on at tourney time.

I think it is darn-near certain the playoffs expand.

Anyone who's really looking can see the SEC is much better top to bottom than anyone else. That said IMO the top tier SEC teams appear a bit down to me from past years. Bama has weakest defense I've seen em have in a decade. UGA has a weak O line( by their standards) and negligible running game. UT is inconsistent at QB. Texas has benefited from the most favorable SEC schedule I have ever seen and lost to only good team in conference they faced. I don't see them winning it this year. Unfortunately O State and Oregon look like the best teams to me.

OT: Twitter in Absolute Shambles

As of 2024, the rate of banned accounts has tripled since Elon Musk took the reigns:

Well, this may have something to do with it…

“Last year (2023), X suspended 12.4 million accounts for violating our CSE policies. This is up from the 2.3 million accounts removed by Twitter in 2022.”

That’s a quintupling…more than 5-1/2 times as many banned accounts…year over year. So are you suggesting that X doing a much better job than Twitter of identifying, exposing & banning accounts that promote child sexual exploitation is a bad thing?

Please elaborate.

Cutter Boley to start vs UofL

Boley and Vandagriff were rated the same coming out of high school- 14th at their position in tbe country. BV was a 5 star by some services. CB was a consensus 4 star.

Boley is in his first year of college football. The reason he didn't start earlier in the season is that this isn't basketball. It's football.

Both Vandagriff and Boley are in their first year in this kind of system and at this school. We've struggled in passpro this season, and wasted opportunities to run the ball in order to establish the passing game.

Why? We need to recruit depth to a competent passing attack. UK is trying to shift to a greater % passing attack, while maintaining a strong rushing attack, and that isn't easy at better football programs, much less at UK.

We also have an uptempo OC WITHOUT the depth to run an uptempo offense, and with a defense that lost all of its DL depth very early on. We just never got there.

The ENTIRE LOD has hated Stoops since he was hired.
They've hated that we run the ball

They've biched and moaned for a decade about not passing the ball down the field, regardless of how many games we've won, and no matter how many teams we've upset. Now that we're trying to switch to more passing, basketball people want it to happen immediately.

There's no winning with the LOD. They will always hate our coach and refuse to support him, if he doesn't have name recognition and a title under his belt.

Ffs, not even Mack Brown, with 2 decades of HC experience, who won a national title at Texas, could get UNC to a 10 win season IN THE FREAKIN ACC! And this clown show fanbase wants to drop a UK coach that has gotten. 2, 10 win seasons and 2nd in the SEC East while playing IN THE SEC in his first 10 seasons.

The LOD at UK just doesn't deserve an SEC Title. They can't commit nor can they support a coach & team for an entire football season. We just can't accept that this isn't Georgia or Alabama, and won't come close until we have some consistency DEVELOPMENT in position coaching and OC.

We're not far away, even with only 4 wins this season.
I think you make some very valid points but are being a little hyperbolic in your description of how the fans have been towards Stoops. Or, at the very least you are equating the attitude of 10% of the fan base to about 80%. Most fans appreciate the success he has brought, and acknowledge that he has elevated the program. But here are some things that you conviently left out of your post. Stoops is making the same mistakes now that he made in year one as a coach. He's improved the program, but he hasn't improved at all as a head coach. All these years and he still can't manage the QB position, can't properly prepare his teams, has horrible team discipline, poor clock management and just can't put together a competent offense. These problems aren't just one offs, they have existed his entire tenure. Sure, we could regress with another coach but fans also know we will never get to the next level as long as we have these issues. We aren't trying to be Bama or Georgia right now. We would just like to compete with Vandy, Tenn, and SC at this point.

You also left out that we have clearly regressed as a program the last two years. Down years happen, but now we are seeing a trend and there really isn't much to suggest the trend will be reversed.

And the most glaring issue you left out. Stoops doesn't even want to be here. He tried to bolt last year and how effective can a coach be if he isn't happy where he's at? You ever worked with someone that didn't want to be at their job? They are miserable and they make everyone around them miserable too. NIL is here to stay and instead of embracing the change and finding creative solutions, Stoops just biches about it and insults his entire roster at the same time.

I agree with you on most topics and love you as a poster, but I disagree with you entirely this time my friend. Stoops has reached his peak and is now heading back downhill. You have to ignore a lot of things to not realize this. I'd rather take a chance that we may regress with a new coach but also have a chance to be better than what we are. Stoops isn't getting us to the next level, in fact, all signs indicate he is bringing us back to where we were before he started.
