OL Zuri Madison at Frederick Douglass has now scheduled official visits to Miami and Arkansas. Similar to TE Willie Rodriguez, when an in-state player is landing some impressive out-of-state offers, even if Kentucky hasn't offered I figure it's worth a mention.
Watched Madison at camp last summer for Kentucky and he did OK. Wasn't great, wasn't bad. He's about 6'3 and around 305 pounds so that tells you probably guard. Kentucky has some good guard options. Hayes Johnson is a guard and Aba Selm could be a guard or any other position on the line. They're recruiting Fred Johnson out of Glenville and Jadon Lafontant is officially visiting from Connecticut next month as well.
I think the disconnect between UK and some of these other schools is you have to be more careful offering in-state players because if you decide you aren't going to take someone you don't want to burn those local bridges. Frederick Douglass has been very good to Kentucky under McPeek and UK seems to just be operating above board and as honestly as possible here.
The hope is that Madison camps at Kentucky this summer but I haven't heard if he is going to do that. Just figured I would give an explanation. Based on what I've seen, I understand their patience. Not like he's someone you write off, but you want to be wowed and see something that makes you think he's someone you have to have, and I think they have just been waiting for that. Lots of solid OL options this year, though.
They still have the Luniewski twins on the radar as well as Jack Hines, Jac'Qawn McRoy, and Kevin Heywood among others.
