It's getting pretty hard. I think after the Wisky loss in 2015, Cal was probably pretty spent. That season took a lot out of him, and that 5 year run resulted in a title plus 3 additional final fours plus one title game appearance. I think 2014 took a lot out of him too. That team was a train wreck in February and they somehow figured it out and beat 5 good teams in a row.

The two losses that really hurt over the last few years were Kansas State and Auburn. Indiana was probably a little better than us in 2016, and UNC was a great team, but despite that and the refs being a complete embarrassment, we were right there.

A win vs KSU in 2018 probably leads to another Final Four, where we could have beaten Michigan, although I don't think we had enough for Nova. We could have won it all in 2019 had we not choked against an Auburn team missing one of it's best players.

Once Duke started recruiting the very top players and pushed Cal's recruiting classes from "ridiculous" to "very good," we haven't been back to the last weekend. I'd say Cal has this year and next to get back there. I don't think he will get fired if he doesn't, but I can see him leaving. This job takes a shitload of people.
