Who is the top 4?

This may be a bit of a hot take, but I have to ask, are we sure the SEC was really that good this year to deserve all the extra consideration some of you feel it deserves? Losing record head to head against the supposedly not even power conference worthy ACC and the biggest out of conference wins are probably either our win over Louisville or Missouri over a K-State team that finished 8-4. I’m a Bama fan when they aren’t playing Kentucky, so I want them to get in, but I’m just not seeing it this year that the SEC is such a superior conference that it should basically be considered an auto-bid no matter what happened in other conferences. The results on the field have to matter more than on paper talent evaluation at some point, and I’m just not sure that things broke our way this year.

I don’t think they are and I think these other teams are a lot better than SEC fans want to admit

That would be my 4 and FSU is dropped to 4th here because they lost their QB but they are 13-0 and should still get in
I agree but they are absolutely going to get drilled by Michigan and I guarantee Harbaugh won’t take his foot off the gas. If I had to pick a NC right now though it would have to be the Huskies but I’m probably wrong because I don’t watch much PAC-12.

Yet Texas beat the SEC Champion on thier field by double digits,HOW do you ignore that
That has been a hot topic in the sports media all evening. That game was pre-milrow. Bama is not the same team now and has grown in a big way. Texas should be in. But FSU should not

The real question you should ask is of these 6 teams who does FSU beat on a neutral field?

So you punish the team who did their part and was consistent all year and reward those who weren’t but in your opinion are better now, that may happen but it’s a whack process if so

There is only one team who I think could beat any of these 6 with consistency this year and that’s Michigan because of their physicality … all of them can be beat on any given night … there is no dominant power this year imo

Yeah, if they were putting the four hottest teams in right now you would have to put Bama at 4 imo but they’re not leaving an undefeated team out imo. Hate it for FSU but their NC hopes went down the drain when Travis got hurt.

In short, yes.

The playoffs aren’t played in the past. Give me the 4 best teams today. Hell Kentucky scored more points on UL than FSU did. They have a nice D tho

So you think fsu beats bama on a neutral field? Or Georgia ? Or Texas? Because that’s the only question that matters

I think they could win a game against those teams with that defense and their second stringer coming back yes, I don’t think they would consistently no. But as I said the only team I’d put consistent money on is Michigan and even they lose if they can’t run the ball

I honestly could care less who’s in or wins this thing but the only positive to a Mich win for me would be a dagger to the hearts of all tOSU fans.

Bama AND UGA would be the betting favorite in a head to head with all 4 of the teams that are going to get in:
1. Michigan
2. Washington
3. Texas
4. FSU

Bama beating UGA only helped Texas. Crazy that the SEC allowed Bama to win that one because it will cost the SEC a lot of money.

Yeah, out of character for Birmingham. Still, felt like this wasn’t the Dawgs year as they weren’t nearly as dominant as the past two.

Selection Show is noon today, ESPN.

I'm sorry, but FSU is just out. The committee has repeatedly mentioned that injuries are a factor. FSU had a great season and a great defense, but after the QB injury they are a different team. Very unimpressive their last two games. They no longer have the offense to compete with the top teams and would likely get destroyed in the CFP. Kentucky scored more than twice as many points on UL than FSU scored last night. Let's go with the 4 best teams...

1. Michigan
2. Washington
3. Texas
4. Alabama or Georgia

If Texas is in, there is no way UGA gets in over Bama. UGA is not a consideration anymore. Its players should just start preparing for the draft.

Commitee has to know that FSU is the most likely of all the top team with a claim to get run out of the stadium.

Committee also knows the ratings Texas will bring...see the match ups with Bama the past two years. Block buster ratings.

As much as I think there's a solid argument for the 2 best SEC teams, Washington is legit and they're fun to watch. They have star Heisman caliber QB for the playoff Marquee as well.

You can't tell the SEC champion no because then you've essentially rendered the conference championship meaningless/useless, and schools/players may boycott and move to get rid of it.

Most schools would be on board because most schools aren't in the hunt for it. Even UGA could be like "well if we're going to be penalized for losing to playoff caliber team after winning 29 straight...back-to-back champs...f*** it"

They would argue you could replace the money with an expanded schedule.

That's what I'm talking about.

The SEC SOS was way down this year. It could cost the SEC a bid to the playoff.

Not likely. But it could. That's all I'm saying. The committee is going to have to come up with some kind of word salad to justify their picks today, and the SEC's record against ACC and other Power 5 conferences gives them a lot of words as ammunition.

Who I think should be:
1.Michigan
2. Washington
3. Alabama
4. Georgia

Who I think it will be:
1.Michigan
2. Washington
3. Texas
4. Alabama

I agree with that and here is why:

Michigan and Wash are in, no question, and they deserve to be.

Then, you have three one loss teams and FSU at 13-0 that have compelling arguments.

My vote would be to take Alabama and Texas as the other two. Sucks for FSU, but they are not the same without Travis, and you have only two more bids to the CFP, so you have to differentiate one way or the other.

The real sucky thing is to leave Georgia out. But, real games HAVE to matter. UGA had their chance on the field vs. Alabama, and came up short in a close game, that was pretty close to a defacto home playoff game in Atlanta. That sucks for UGA, but I guess Ohio State could say the same, they lost a defacto home playoff game in Ann Arbor, also in a very close score (was actually exactly the same score 27-24, with two minutes to go)

Finally, because real games HAVE to matter, Texas beat Alabama on their home field by 10 points, and won all of their other games but one, and finished the season with two big blowouts.

It is a tough year, first time I can remember where the final four were all that controversial, but no way to take all six teams.

If SEC does not get in it will have been penalized for being by far the best conference .
Mediocrity will have been rewarded and excellence punished

If you think this FSU team is on the level of that cincy team then I can’t help you and there is no point in any of this lol
Did you watch that absolute shit show last night? There are 20 teams that would kick the shit out of Florida State right now.
