Man he’s average to below average lol don’t worry tho we’ll hear about his “potential”There’s nothing special about Miranda. Good grief

Actually, it appears that Miranda might be a rather “otherworldly” talent. But talent isn’t enough – even if there were not the other (unfixable?) issues being discussed around Miranda. As another poster indicated, a starting five of 9th Graders might be the most “talented” team in college basketball. But they wouldn’t win a game in Div. III.I'm not saying Miranda is an otherworldly talent, but he at least has height and upside. At this point those are both qualities I'd take. As for why Cal passed on him the first time I don't know. Off the court issues? Waiting for Oscar? Didn't wanna offend Bradshaw? I genuinely can't tell you Cal's mindset. I'm not sure anyone can. As a fan, I'm just watching Cal lose players and get nothing in return. I don't believe that trend can continue. I hope we can at least get Reeves back, one other veteran piece, and some depth in the post.
I definitely agree with your statement on talent. It's important, but so are many other factors. Experience, basketball IQ, leadership, work ethic, role, etc. That's why many of us feel he needs one, if not multiple veteran pieces. It'd be nice to find elite players who fit our needs, but I don't think that luxury exists anymore. As you mentioned, it's hard to be choosy at this point. That's why I'll take what we can get and hope it contains a veteran piece, Reeves, and post depth. Cal claims to have a plan, but I just can't help but think he's run out of time.Actually, it appears that Miranda might be a rather “otherworldly” talent. Still, like you said, UK needs bodies and at this point is probably beyond being too choosy.
Knox started his 5th yr in NBA at 22 yrs old. He'd be nowhere near the oldest players in '23 CBB this past season.
Since Bradshaw has an ankle injury and might miss most of the season, he has finally given Cal his blessing to bring in a couple of scrubs to fill out the roster, but no one that threatens the 4 spot in case his ankle heals before February.
Maybe not but ANY live body who has played a minute of college basketball is a welcome addition to our roster.
Brendan Canada and Walker Horn will be getting 5 to 10 minutes a game as of right now.
Miranda didn’t play last year! The perfect fit!
That could only be topped by Barnhart adding on 4 more years to Cal's contract.I think the special surprise is Bruiser Flint getting promoted to take over KT Turner's spot since nobody else seems to wanna claim their spot on the Titanic. Nobody can teach chewing gum better than Bruiser.
So Miranda is NC State's Sharpe !Miranda didn’t play last year! The perfect fit!
Does Lane Barnett have another twitter account?
If only. Sadly, the lifetime contract disagrees with that sentiment.I don't believe that trend can continue.
I specifically meant this off season when it comes to the roster. I can't speak for what Cal will do moving forward (after this season,) but if the last few years are any indication the results will be lackluster. If only. Sadly, the lifetime contract disagrees with that sentiment.
Think that would be hilarious and maybe put an end to the ccc reign of destructionUntil we have more than a 7 man roster UK basketball is in limbo. There are numerous situations that could cause UK to be unable to finish the season without starting walk-ons.
This is ridiculous LOL. We will fill the roster 100%, and with D1 quality players. The absolute worst case scenario would be filling the roster with vastly substandard talent, but it will be filled. No walk-ons will start this season due to not having enough players, write that down.Until we have more than a 7 man roster UK basketball is in limbo. Okay Cal I feel much better now. This is ridiculous LOL. We will fill the roster 100%, and with D1 quality players. Bro c'mon. I don't care who you are, no coach is going into the season with 7 players, just won't happen. We may have to fill it with low D1 talent, but it will be filled. The point of the post was there is zero chance we start walk-ons due to injuries and not having enough guys to not start walk-ons.Okay Cal I feel much better now.
Have you been out of touch? Cal hired John Welch.I think the special surprise is Bruiser Flint getting promoted to take over KT Turner's spot since nobody else seems to wanna claim their spot on the Titanic. Nobody can teach chewing gum better than Bruiser.
When that happens you can talk to me about ridiculous, in the meantime "filing out the roster 100% with quality D1 players" is a pipe dream. This is ridiculous LOL. Jasper Johnson the '25 kid from KY? Think he's been covered a lot and you pretty much know what's going on with him. Not sure what you want to know? What's the skinny on this Jasper Johnson kid whose name keeps popping up @ralphdaltonfan ???
lol, D1 quality and quality D1 are two different things. But I guess nuance is lost on you. And I never said walk-ons would start the season, I said at no point during the season would a walk-on be required to start due to not having enough players. (Read: that leaves enough wiggle room for an senior walk-ons to get the nod on senior day.)When that happens you can talk to me about ridiculous, in the meantime "filing out the roster 100% with quality D1 players" is a pipe dream.
I didn't say walk-ons would start the season, I said finish the season with walk-ons starting. As things stand right now if you can't see it as a possibility then you are refusing to face where we are due to Cal's mismanagement of the program. We are relying on 5 high school kids to play an entire college season with injury or other issue causing any of them to miss any games. Now let's re-think who is being ridiculous
We will have more than 7 players. No doubt. I think the question on everyone's minds is if Cal will use his 2nd best recruiting class ever as the core of a team built to win big tournament games next March. Or will he blow it again? At a school with Kentucky's basketball traditions, championships are the standard and deep March runs are the base case. Fans are not satisfied. The skepticism is earned and to be expected.Bro c'mon. He's getting ready to tryout for Team USA 19U team, so not sure why people thought it was him.Karter Knox is not going to reclass according to his dad just now.
No problem with that at all, good take here. But saying we're gonna need to start walk-ons at some point during the season is frankly ludicrous. We will have more than 7 players. No doubt. Gold Standard baby.lol, D1 quality and quality D1 are two different things. But I guess nuance is lost on you. The roster will be filled out with 2-4 more players. There is a difference in quality between players who play at Ark-Pine Bluff and the SEC yes, but there will be AT WORST CASE some players of low D1 quality to pick up. ZERO CHANCE A WALK ON IS ASKED TO START DUE TO INJURY.
We are DESPERATE for good news. But all this is likely the Boogie Fland visit which I don't care about at all right now. He's getting ready to tryout for Team USA 19U team, so not sure why people thought it was him.
I've got a guess of who I think it is, told 2 people via PM here and it's only a guess based on nothing but throwing crap at the wall, so if I'm wrong, I'll still name who I told them. I don't want to say the name in case it's correct, due to not wanting to spoil the player's announcement. If it doesn't happen today as this "PhreshSinatra" guy hinted at, then I'll name who my guess was later tonight if nothing has been mentioned. We are DESPERATE for good news. But all this is likely the Billy Richmond visit which I don't care about at all right now.
Billy Richmond visiting is a good thing though. He's a really nice player. Understand what you are saying though. We're all hoping for some '24 roster news.We are DESPERATE for good news. But all this is likely the Boogie Fland visit which I don't care about at all right now.
I am aware of the hire. But I also expect him to be on a one year lease like Lucas and Turner were. Instead of UK being a destination program it's a stepping stone program for players and coaches. I wish Cal would follow that trend and mosey on out of town.Have you been out of touch? Cal hired John Welch.
