What are your favorite sports nicknames?

Former Reds pitcher Ron Robinson.

Pete Rose or Marty Brennaman in the 80's I believe. He was a tall, odd looking dude with curly red hair if memory serves.

I always found it hilarious that they gave Randy Johnson the nickname "the big unit".

The double meaning hit me one day a few years ago and I didn't stop laughing for hours.

OTIS a close 2nd!

There was a baseball pitcher in the 70s named Mark Fidrych. He kind of looked like Big Bird, so he was given the nickname Mark "The Bird" Fidrych.

A few years later, a pitcher named Doug Bird comes along and gets tagged with the nickname Doug "The Fidrych" Bird.

I guess maybe it doesn't look so funny typed out like that, but it was hilarious back in the day. I guess you'll have to take my word for it. ;)

He even had a bit of a Kentucky connection as he attended Manual High School in Louisville for a while.
