UT is beating us because our coach wasn’t prepared not because of nil. Nil isn’t an issue if you’re paying your coach too 10 money. His job is to go out and make the relationships to bring in the money. Stoops coaching has peaked and he has no idea how to play the nil game. Barney is a lead weight too

I get your frustration, but I have a hard time believing that Stoops didn’t do all he could to try and have the team ready for this game. Even if he’s being overpaid, he has a giant ego and he doesn’t want to be beaten by a rival at any time.

Good teams don’t t do that stuff.. UK has done it before, during and will after stoops. NIL has destroyed college sports unless you are from tradition.
What’s UT back to? They don’t suck anymore but they aren’t far and away better than UK. Coaching is the difference. And what about UL? They’re smashing their season. That’s a team that is back. Why are they killing it while uk is stuck in the mud? How could UL out do UK in NIL?
Also a reason I’ve been an advocate to abandon to misguided “we have to be a balanced football team” nonsense and either go full air raid tempo and try out score teams but be ok with the occasional beat down when you get shut down. Or you go spread speed rpo /triple option concepts bc you can recruit the big uglies to block easier and then You can recruit really phenomenal athletes for the backfield and put your best athlete at QB. It also isn’t difficult to find a great athlete that can throw good enough to hit TEs off “missed block” type release down the seam or the run boot leg speed option and then throw to a receiver on a corner or fade or stick when the CB comes up to stop the option action. Doesn’t have to be slow even …you can run it similar to the Mariota Oregon offense that was run heavy but fast break speed. Ppl are too in love with “how it looks” instead of consistent results and identity.
Trying to play pro style balanced means you need to be able to recruit with the best of them and develop. Gimmick systems makes recruiting to a system easier to get the pieces you need to compete with 90% of teams. GT was a national brand and consistent top 25 team until they bought into needing tk “modernize” and the reality hit them that they can’t recruit in SEC country to compete man on man.
The reality is if we went to Bowden at QB after sawyer broke his wrist in the UF game instead of trying the backup qb, we beat USCJr that year too. And then we nearly beat UT and would have had the staff not tried to get cute and throw more that game than they had all year thinking they were going tk catch UT off guard. That’s wasted downs and that type of offense takes a full commitment to no negative plays. Smith also played the game after UF with an injured wrist and ribs. Make the switch after the UF game and you likely get 2 more wins w Bowden not counting bad play calling against UT as a potential 3rd. Easily could have been a 10 win season. It’s no coincidence that one of our wins against UT is w a WR in Roark and a simple run at all cost gameplan as well. And our best season since 77 came from running a power run 75% run ground and pound game where we beat teams into submission other than the top 5 type teams like UGA and Bama.
The argument that you can’t recruit to a run heavy offense is ignorant. RBs are a dime a dozen to find a good one. You can recruit a great defense bc run heavy teams typically have great defenses and defensive recruits don’t care if you’re slow and prodding, if anything it helps them. You won’t be able to recruit NFL WRs and QBs. But that isn’t what you need for your offense anyways. You need a Bowden or Antwan Randel El (Steelers) type WR/RB that played QB in highschool and has. A decent arm. Just recruiting speed and one power back

Well, they were 11-2 last year. lost to Bama by 3 and georgia by 10. I'd say that's back to being relevant
His ego should get him fired. Once he gets behind his awful offense can’t come back. In todays game you out score teams to win.

No we weren't. We had a couple of good 9 win regular seasons but were never a real threat to UGA n the east or to win the SEC. Unless you are talking about a different door.

NIL was an inevitability. Now they need to make a cap. There is a reason pro sports have salary caps. If they didn't the small market teams could never compete.
Even with a cap they struggle because everyone wants the bright lights instead of podunkia USA. If they don't cap NIL D1 college sports as most of us know it is dead.
