Victor wembanyama, #1 draft prospect

The ones who have been widely proclaimed to be the best prospects since LeBron were Anthony Davis, Zion, and Emoni Bates. Two of those three are all-star caliber players and the other one has definitely been disappointing but still has talent and will be drafted.
Lol there were plenty more than that. Some of it was probably intentional hyperbole to get clicks/sell magazines but there was a lot more than those 3. Go ahead and believe the 7’4 teenager will pan out. I’m not trying to stop you.

Not really. I'm not even sure AD was quite on the level of Zion and Wiggins, either. But I could be mis-remembering that. But I do know Wiggins was seen as the "best prospect since Lebron".

There's really not many of these guys. It's not like any of the recent elite prospects were seen this way.. Not Banchero, Luka, Green, Cade, Ja.. They were elite talents for sure. But not can't-miss talents.

Wemby could very well be a total bust. I wouldn't be shocked if that size and the way he'd be utilized, doesn't turn into injury problems very quick. But he's as highly touted as anyone since Lebron.

Maybe it’s just me but you’re coming off a little aggressive. There’s not too many guys who are 7’4 with guard skills out there, it would be foolish to not draft this kid first.

While I do worry about Wembys frame in the long haul.. he's an absolute freak of a specimen, probably 2nd only to LeBron over the last 20 years.

When you're 7-2 with an 8 foot wingspan and skills like a guard.. you take that. A player like him could be a literal cheat-code for whatever team he lands on. And it's very poetic that a player like him is coming in as LeBron winds down. From one once-in-a-generation talent to another

I also think Scoot Henderson is about as good of a consolation prize as you can get. I'd be happy with either for the Houston Rockets.
Dwight Howard was a physical freak

Dwight Howard was a physical freak

Sort of. In his physique, sure.. but he was still the same profile as other 5's: he's 6'10", has skills like a center, is a center, can't really play any other position.

Wemby is a 5 in height (a gigantic 5, mind you), a 4 in frame, with the shooting stroke of a wing and the handles of a guard.

Dwight Howard spent his career out muscling guys in the paint and checking other centers, because for his position he WAS a freak. But it's not like he was bringing the ball up or playing a midrange game.

That's the difference here.

Yeah it’s just you. I’m perfectly fine with you having your opinion on the kid.

Like I said, some it may have been publications using hyperbole to drive clicks and sales. But aside from Wiggins and Zion I remember Oden getting a lot of hype (I’ll admit he wasn’t compared directly to LeBron given the difference in positions). I remember Kuminga getting comparisons to a young LeBron. I remember Giles getting that love as well.

There were others that I can’t remember right now as well. I’m not sure why we’re supposed to pretend like every other class there isn’t some sports writer saying “he could be the next LeBron!” It happens all the time.

Like I said, I don’t really mind people thinking what they want about this guy, but to act like it’s completely unreasonable to fathom him flopping is just ignorant of history. Plenty of highly hyped and touted hoopers have flopped either due to injury or not being up to snuff. And like I said before, idk this guy’s medical history but being 7’4 and in high school isn’t normal. And he has either won the genetic lottery or he has some medical problem. And most of the time people that tall have a medical problem. It’s not crazy to suggest that, in fact to its far crazier to expect him to be able to play an 80+ game season with his frame and be ok imo.
