Vandy

I keep thinking about Bama's late TD when the receiver was trotting backward into the end zone. Hubris right to the end.

It’s a religion in the south. Their fans do not handle losing well at all.

They better get used to it. With a 12 team playoff and probably to 14-16 this decade later on, they were never gonna continue to dominate.

6 titles 11 years is something we will probably never see anyone come close to again in any college sport. NIL and transfer era are gonna see to that.

Yeah I agree. Bama got placed in title games, backed into semis, it’s unbelievable. I also don’t think it’s a coincidence Bama stopped winning titles when NIL came to be.

I dunno which is worse......#1 alabama losing to unranked vandy....or UK playing a close one with Vandy?

I mean, seriously...Vandy is not supposed to be beating ranked teams are they? Let alone UK?

At least the sec is up this year and we aren't doing too bad, especially if we can find a way to beat Vandy.

And what happened at south carolina today??? How does ole miss find a way to look stellar against a team that beat us pretty bad on our home turf?

Yeah, but they should have unlimited NIL resources. Could have been more of a Saban not wanting to deal with it issue and why they slipped a tad before he left.

I do think it will help spread the wealth and make things more competitive. The big dogs are still gonna eat first but there are too many good players who won’t be content to sit at those schools, so they will go to where they know they will play and will get as much or more money, thus spreading the wealth some. Certain schools won’t be able to hoard the talent. But it will kill FBS schools. They will almost need to form their own playoff structure. They shouldn’t have to be content with playing in low tier bowls every year.

Are we out of contention for the sec east?

edit: This distinction no longer exists this year with the 2 new schools added.

Yeah. The portal killed Saban’s ability to horde the five star classes for three years. NIL let other teams be out in the open with what was being done behind closed doors, evened the playing field among the heavy hitters.

Vandy students/fans tore down the goal posts, went out on West End, marched them down Broadway to the river, and tossed them in. That's a helluva walk carrying goal posts. I would think Metro police had to start escorting them at some point based on Saturday night traffic in Nashville. I never watch the local news but I'm gonna have to tonight.

If Arky can beat the fightin' Chumlees it will be a great night for me in Rutherford County 😃

As the season goes on we might look at that USC Jr. game as an abberation. If we played it next week I think there's a good chance it would've turned out differently.

Vandy will be a bear next week. For right now, though..I’m celebrating with them.
They wont be in Music City next week and UK will be coming off a 2 week hiatus and will not overlook the Commies now.
Vanderbilt is in trouble.
They will be emotionally drained by the biggest win in their history and we will be the beneficiaries.

Nice try though Booger Boy.

What's Stoops record coming off a bye week?

Vandy is better than they have been in years, I think today showed no one can look at them as an easy win. But I think you are correct, don't think they can get up 2 weeks in a row like they did for this one, which I believe they will have to do

Bama doesn't have that bruiser absolute STUD RB their better teams always had. Their O line is not championship calibre. As for Candy their QB is like no other I have seen in football this year. They are running the right offense with the right guy at QB. This kid has some Johnny Football in him as well as he is tough as nails. We need to get lead early. If they get the lead that ball control offense is a bear

Hopefully so. I think it’s more likely that we see the reality of the new sec as we move forward in this new environment where about everybody can win on given days and the most consistent will be rewarded. No weeks off.

Again, you may want to post over in Rafters.

Saban quit because he knew his style of coaching was done.

Love him or hate him Saban is a control freak that wants perfection. It’s why he failed in the NFL (Drew Brees aside). You can’t tell guys making 10,15, 20 million dollars a year to go run laps because you thought they’re making mistakes they shouldn’t. Which he did. You also can’t physically threaten to fight your team captain in the locker room. Which he did.

Players have more power now and Saban didn’t want to deal with it or adjust because that’s the core of who he is as a football coach.
I listened to his guys left on this team talk and they would run thru a wall for that dude.
