Good morning, HOB. Back over on campus for today’s practice recap. The Cats are scheduled to come off the field around 11:30 ET. It’s “offense day,” so we’ll have OC Rich Scangarello and other select coaches and players speaking with us today. Stay tuned…

OC RICH SCANGARELLO Q&A:

* On Ramon Jefferson at RB… Good football player, adds a lot to that position. Too early to say where he is on depth chart. Considers all of those guys behind C-Rod to be 2s. Good mix.

* Scrimmage was good on both sides. Offense didn’t have a few guys but still did some productive things. Good give and take, sign of a good team.

* Backup QB remains a good battle. Long way to go. Good days for both. If he had to play them, he’d be comfortable with both. Sees good futures here for his QBs down the depth chart.

* Flax has had a really good camp at RT.

* Tough to get separation in TE room. There’s not a position group he’s more excited about. They caught 15 balls in scrimmage. “Got a gem with Kattus.”

* OL crosss training a lot it’s guys missing of late. Really good at center, which helps anchor the whole group. Competition at guard spots. Knows for sure about one tackle, gonna find out soon about the other three.

* Says he’s had more fun coaching this year than ever, Thinks this could be a special team.

* Key cited again at WR, but C-Lew had three big-time competitive catches in the scrimmage. Harris really physical and “awesome in the run game.” Goes on to hint that is a big key to guys playing WR in this offense. You better be willing to block. All of these guys buy in… and annoy the defense with it. Ha

* Barion Brown is going to be a guy who plays on Sundays, and it’s helping him a lot to be in this pro-style offense where he’ll walk into the league someday and be ready to roll.

OL COACH ZACH YENSER Q&A:

* Guys have to be able to play multiple positions. Eli Cox will be kept at center as much as they can, but the guards and tackles really have to cross-train and be ready to play where they're asked to play. One more week of practice after this one to make definitive moves.

* Jager Burton continues to come on strong, forcing the competition to be even higher. Getting reps at both RG and LG. His athletic ability, the way he bends, and his leverage/power stand out. It helps him recover well. Still learning the ins and outs of playing OLine at this level, but really good at recovering.

* Confirmed that three starters did not play during the Saturday scrimmage. Missed those guys, but they turned it into a positive for the young guys to get reps against the 1s defense.

* Buford needs to play more under control and with better balance. Sometimes he overthinks things and panics a bit, loses balance. Needs to trust his athletic ability and technique.

* Manning is "a power human being." When you have him and Cox and Horsey inside together, that's a lot of SEC experience.

* The OLBs and interior DL are really doing a phenomenal job of testing his guys every day. The edge guys are really tough. This could be one of the better front 7s in the SEC, he says.

* Philosophy on how many guys he'd like to play... Just whoever can play and help them. Wants to keep guys fresh, but won't play guys just for the sake of playing them and putting the offense in jeopardy. He thinks they have 7 now and will have 7-8 in a main rotation.
