Exactly, LOL. The idea that X = Truth was pretty funny to me…
Number 1...It's entertainment. They do big numbers for a reason and this thread just proves that. People still watch fox news and CNN just so they can be angry. The lightbulb has not yet went off in some of yalls head yet
Number 2......What are you expecting to hear? In addition to being entertainment it is also a business. If a lot of you guys ran said business you would be unemployed after the first day you just had to get something off your chest. Marrow comes on the show for a reason and it's good for all parties. Cal and Matt had a severed relationship and it was bad for all parties involved. That said, the above poster was right, KSR has been plenty critical as of late. But what exactly changes if Jones goes on the radio and burns it all down? Nothing. Nothing changes. Stoops is still gonna do what he's gonna do.

Idk man matt was critical enough of the basketball program that Cal stopped speaking to him lol. As far as the buyout he was right they weren’t going to fire him and pay that money. They certainly aren’t firing stoops off what they apparently believe is one bad season.

I agree with the not one bad season take. We’ve been slipping the last 3 years. The home record in particular is pathetic. This is the first disastrous season but the signs have been there all along.

That entire interview (as many have already said) gave me ZERO confidence in the future of the program. The standard “it left a bad taste in our mouth” and “come to Jesus” meetings is the same tired bs that every single person in this position would say.

Now that we've established that he's not Nick Saban, let's talk about who he actually is. He is probably THE No. 1 coaching prospect in the game, if prospect is defined as a guy who has never been a P4 coach. He is at, or near the top, of every P4 list of candidates. Does that mean he is a lock to succeed? No, Scott Frost once had that same status. But he's absolutely a legitimate candidate for any P4 job opening, except for the true bluebloods, and is likely the No. 1 target of several.

I would send Stoops a letter terminating his contract because he “ should have known” what was going down that put us on probation. And also that his negotiation with A&M violated the contract . Offer him ten million for a complete release . Even if we lose the lawsuit he would only get about twenty four million after atty fees and he would have to wait years for its completion and it would not help his future coaching hirability . He could very well lose the lawsuit . Who knows what might be dug up in the litigation.
My guess is he would take it . If not let the lawsuit begin and Kentucky begin a new era of football .
Yes there is the matter of assistant coaches so you probably drop another eight to ten million there ( most of their contracts have a set off reduction for whatever they make in a new job.
I do find it entertaining that people think Mitch opens emails from fans he doesn’t know. Don’t waste your time or get your hopes up with emails. Chances are the emails are filtered and non-institutional emails go into a quarantine file or an “other” folder to never be seen again. That is pretty much standard practice for edu and .gov accounts on outlook. You’d be better off sending letters in the mail if you really want to make difference. Everybody hates junk mail.

Said those 22 portal players that SC got last season or the ones from the year before apparently had no bearing on them turning around the season. Said it was the freshmen.
Said we need to play young guys and develop them over the next couple years instead of getting portal guys.
Said a 5 or 6 win season for next year using those young guys.
We would have a 1 win season if we were playing freshmen and sophomores.
Some teams loaded up on portal players. It's about evaluating them and taking proven players. They don't all have to be seniors but juniors as well.
Most lineman don't contribute until there junior and senior years.

Those are some teams that have done well this season for themselves. Evaluating portal guys is very necessary and those teams did well doing so.
Even top teams like Oregon took 14 of em to fill needs.

He’s usually really good in interviews but instead it was a lot of “1 bad year” and “buts” which doesn’t really inject confidence that they see the issue as a top down culture issue but instead a bad apples issue. Reality is, it’s been a culture issue for multiple years and we have zero identity as a team since year 1 of Will Levis/Crod…
once we went all in on over emphasizing balance the Offensive line loss the Big Blue Wall grit and we became mediocre at all aspects instead of a dominant run team, solid to great defense, and a complimentary passing game that is just enough to take advantage of a stacked box. That’s a better recipe than balance for the sake of balance. It’s also easier to recruit linemen that can run block at a high level then it is to get 2 deep elite size and agility to pass block the top SEC teams.
I don’t know for sure your argument../but if your saying Mitch has done a good job in secondary sports and that is equal weight of the job hes done in football and basketball…we are not in same page

How's that stance going to play when you go to hire your next coach? Nobody is going to want to negotiate with an organization that would treat an employee that way. For the record, I totally respect the stance. But you can't do it to the current coach because of the need to hire a future coach.
This. That "one bad season" BS Vince floated yesterday was hot garbage. The trajectory has been down for three seasons now. It's tone deaf not to acknowledge that.
I'll preface by saying I love Matt and the whole KSR gang. UK sports has made them a lot of money, but they also provide outstanding coverage unlike most other college markets in the country. But the "eight straight bowl game" narrative is trash too. Everyone with a pulse makes a bowl these days. Making a bowl game isn't a measure of success. I'd argue NOT making a bowl game is a standard of complete and utter failure though.
This is probably going to depress you, but I'll do it anyway. The current buyout is 80% of the remainder of the contract. Current deal runs through 2031 and $8.6M per year roughly. So seven years multiplied by the annual average multiplied by 80% is where the approx $44M figure comes from. The depressing part, they buyout after next season is still 80% of the remainder. Which means it only decreases approx $6.5M this time NEXT season. The real decrease occurs the year after, meaning after the 2026 season. That's when it drops to 60% of the remainder of the deal. At that point you'll only have five years remaining, or roughly $42M. 60% of that is roughly $25M. I think that's when it actually becomes a topic worthy of discussion. Long story, short UK and Stoops are stuck together for two more seasons. So we'd better hope he's capable of fixing it. I don't think 2025 looks Joker-ish in terms of gameday atmosphere, but I absolutely think 2026 will.
