The best thing that can happen to a high seed in the NCAA tournament is to be in Kentucky's region.

The best thing that can happen to a high seed in the NCAA tournament is to be in Kentucky's region.

That's also could be a disadvantage. No excuse for Kentucky to lose a first round game, but if you look back the teams they played was playing above their normal self. ST. Peters made it to the Sweet 16 as a 16 seed and Oakland took a final four team to overtime the game after they beat UK. Two teams playing better than they should be. I would rather face a higher seed playing like a higher seed.

No team is immune to it but UK has only had a few over past 45 years or so. Tubby lost to an 8 or 9 at UK, hall lost a couple of bad ones in early 80s to mtsu and uab. Cal obviously with st Peter's, Oakland and I guess kstate has been the ringleader to no one's surprise.
