A week ago we all thought UL would be no problem. But after throwing in a DUD last night this game will be a war!! We have a few games left to improve but UL will come into Rupp and will be very aggressive. They will try to punch us in the mouth. I hope we will be ready.

Name a time when the UL game isn't close. I don't remember too many times like last year and the 2012 games that it was not relatively close and I would say all but a few times UK has had the best team. UK would struggle a bit and pull away, 2012 game, UL led in second half. I say close in competitive nature, no blowouts etc..

This is RP's Super Bowl, he keeps them in dorms at Christmas and practices 3 times a day. He gets his chance to be relevant so they always play well. I have never thought this game would be a blow out.

This is RP's chance to have his one shining moment of the year. He tries to beat Cal and UK like you would not believe. I love it because Cal makes comments that other team is practicing on Christmas and I am sending my kids home etc.. RP is running them ragged to beat UK, Cal smirks and beats RP again.
IMO

I hope they stay in the dorm through Christmas. Should be pretty tired out for the game.

I have zero concern for several reasons:

1) Their front-court blows
2) We have better guards
3) It's at Rupp, and crowd will be in to it
4) We will be jacked for this game, similar to Duke

The only reason we lost to UCLA is they had a 6'10" guy who could run a pick and pop all game and shoot 75% from 15ft...UL has no one on their roster who comes close to that. I think their bigs shoot 35% from 3 feet.

Not worried about the Tards...Cal owns the skeleton pimp from Loserville.

I know some have been predicting a UK blowout, but if you look at the history of this rivalry you'll see the games are most often close game, regardless of who's floor it's on, who's having the best year or looking the best. I've always anticipated this year won't be any different. Except now after seeing UL take Mich. St who's likely be the new #1 to the wire on their home floor, and seeing the egg we laid last night at UCLA I'd pretty much bet on it.

And yea if the Cat's play like they did last night I don't even want to think about what will happen in Lawrence.

Yes because playing against UNC and Duke every year are just so-so games. Trust me this is a game we want very badly, but then again, we want to every game.

While this is an important game for the Commonwealth fans, I would rather beat Duke/UNC and every other ACC team first and foremost. What happens in December has little bearing when compared to the conference play - unless the conference is built around poor basketball.

Card fans getting their hopes up is a good thing. Makes the win so much sweeter.

I'd say that too if I couldn't beat my instate rival.

Translation: We know we will lose again to UK, so I'll throw out the proverbial ACC conference deflection tard card, even though we'll also have our asses kicked by them as well.

That about right tard boi? :pimp:

Well, if we play like we did against Duke then I am not worried either. If we play like we did last night then...yeah so...

I think the guys will be amped, Rupp will be loud and there is time to learn from the UCLA game. We have talent that needs to grow. That is better than not having talented and hoping the other teams forgets to leave the bus.

I think the UL game will be a war as always but we should be able to pull it out because it is at home.

UL won't shoot 53% from the field, 45.5% from 3 and make over 76% of their FT's nor will UK shoot 38% from the field, 32% from 3 but I do hope they shoot 76% from the FT line. UL was out-rebounded by 10 by MSU (40 to 30) while UK finally got back in the rebounding battle losing by 1 in that category w/o Lee. Ulis and Lee should be 100% by then and hopefully Skal, Alex and Jamal will bring their "A" game. UK won't win by 20 but it won't be a nail biter either IMO.

But what are they doing in their dorms when not practic.... ohhh, right.

lol , I don't believe that for a minute . It's not like you guys are going to compete for championships in the conference you're in now .

Why do you assume last night's game was the "real" UK and not the version we saw vs Duke? I'm thinking the opposite: time zones, amount of travel, disrespect after last year's beatdown, first road game, teenagers, girlfriend problems - whatever. I think last night was a fluke.

UofL looked better than we thought. A couple of thoughts. One, without Lee and Lewis, they can't score. UofL was a bad matchup for MSU: first, they didn't have perimeter defenders to bother those two scorers. Do we? I think so. Second, the one thing you have to have against a Pitino defense is multiple ball handlers. MSU is lacking at the point guard position, forget "multiple".

So, maybe we're a bad matchup for them - we usually are.

On the other side of the coin, it looked like UCLA's size and length bothered us last night (if you want to put any stock in the game) - and Louisville is plenty long this year. It looks like a Cal team, to be honest. Will that hurt us? Plus, they are due, big time.

I'd be much more worried if it wasn't in Rupp...

Kansas is now the game I am worried about. We will get obliterated in Lawrence if we crap the bed like we did last night.
I'm not worried about that game. We should be hitting our stride by late January. Then again had we played Kansas last night we might have actually showed up for that one. I personally think UK underestimated UCLA and they came out hitting literally everything.

I would say that even last year was kind of a fluke as well. That just doesn't happen in CBB today with teams like that. Even as bad as UCLA was last year they were just stone cold the first half. They had opportunities that just didn't fall. We would have still beat them handily no doubt. If this is as bad as it can get for us then I'm not too worried. We can say UCLA is a terrible team, but that doesn't mean they can't play like a top 5 team a few nights a season. If shots are falling it doesn't matter is your are 365th or 1st.

IF we play like we have thus far....I see us struggling several games...

Any word on Marcus Lee? Is he alright after last night?

And what about Ulis? He fell after that one shot and landed on that elbow.

It is not that important to me or out of state fans, UL is not even on my list of rivals, I would rather beat UNC, Indiana, KU, UCONN, or TN or Vanderbilt.

Your coach is still bitter that UK Fans cannot accept him as someone who saved program in 90's.

IT eats him up inside to know that most UK fans despise him, Cal is so front and center
Eats him up that he is better known for 2 scandals than winning NC 2 years ago.
Eats him up that most UK fans don't care about him. He is little brother at UL, now that Cal has morphed him than be considered little step brother, Cal dominates him on court and off.

I have not seen an Ichabod Crane on the whoreU team that can shoot 15 foot jump shots all game long.

i'm pretty sure UL game was real before losing to UCLA.

I remember seeing UL on our schedule. But then again, i'm getting older and my memory is getting foggier.

I'm not going to worry about UofL until I see how our team responds to last night's loss; we do have a few games before then (even if not quite the same quality)

The UL game is always pretty competitive...UK always wins. I'm not sure what the big deal is after last night. Last night's game has zero bearing on the UL game.

The UCLA game exposed our weaknesses...interior play/rebounding and consistent perimeter shooting. Not exactly the combination you want to try and fix nearly 1/3 of the way into the season. Pitino will have his guards penetrate and dish to their interior players when Skal overcommits trying to block shots. They will also crash the boards and dare us to stop them. Cal has a LOT of work to do to get UK ready for that challenge.
We have an even more immediate test coming versus Arizona State. That game will be close too. We'd better find some shooting before long or the weaknesses in this team will be the standard gameplan for all teams we face.

And fans of both sides desperately want to win the UK/UL game. Anyone who claims otherwise is full of crap. They are our #1 rival and it isn't even close. Just stop with the 'I'd rather beat ____ than UL' junk.

Exactly, UK always wins. Period, end of story. Louisville fans know it and HATE it. It fuels their jealousy.
