The UL game just got REAL

Anything is possible in a rivalry. They had a losing record in 1998 and beat our eventual national champs in Rupp.

I don't like Cal's "I'm not worried about Louisville" comment. Why go there?

That being said, put Briscoe on Lee and we should be fine.

Arizona State is here before UL and they just beat a good A&M team so let's take care of the teams in front of the UL game first. I know it's fun for us, as fans, to speculate but I'm more inclined to think of the upcoming games rather than to look too far ahead on the schedule, just the way I am.

Mich St lost to Texas Southern at home last year and went on to the final four. They don't always start off strong at home, so I think UL playing them tough could be fools gold.

In theory, anything is possible, but as I posted in another thread, MSU has 1 guy who would start for us and maybe 2 others who would play. Their guard play is very weak. They can't beat anybody off the dribble or keep their man in front of them. Don't see us having either of those issues. Plus other than the freshman, MSU's bigs are stiffs, ours aren't. Can't see UL playing any better than UCLA and that took Ulis and Lee's injuries and Poy's no show for them to win. We should win by double digits.

actually, to be fair, the comment Cal made about not being worried about Louisville needs to be put into context. He was asked about practicing over Christmas break, and he said was more concerned about players being with their families at that time. He does go on to say he knows how good Louisville is. He was also asked about this November 25th - well before he needs to think about the Louisville game.

You guys are going to get beat mark itdown

Could UL come to Rupp and beat us this year? They gave MSU all they could handle. And you know they can only be more confident after our loss at UCLA. And then there is the fact that Cal is giving the players time off for Christmas, and "not worried about Lousiville."

Last thing on my mind, since I can't control it. CLUTTER.

We're going to lose because this Louisville team goes out to eat together and hangs out together. "I've never seen a team this close before," says Pitino.

/sarcasm

I really do wonder if we actually have mods on this site. Take a look at this buffoons previous posts. Amazing that he hasn't been banned yet.

In order to beat any team from here on, we have to not let them foul us.
With our inability to make free throws this is something to consider.
Why can't we hire someone who can use hypnosis to improve their FT shooting, like we did in the past?
How about hiring Kyle Macy to teach them the technic? Do it Cal.

Dirty bird fans have this same dream every year. Then the game is played and the excuses start. Cal has the best players money can buy, Rape Arena, the game means nothing, Pitino doesn't take the game as serious as Cal.
Did I forget anything?

thing is, from all reports, they hit their free throws in practice - I think (could be wrong, just hearsay) they all have to shoot and make 500 or so a week? Same thing with threes - in practice most of our regular shooters are automatic

Good bigs? I don't think so. Centers and forwards scored 13 pts and were out rebounded by 10. Shoot well? Two guys scored 44 of 67 points, that ain't happening in Rupp against this team. L1C8. Almost anything is possible but there are things that just aren't probable and slick Rick walking out with a "W" is probably one of those things.
They are good at rebounding and interior defense. THAT was very apparent in their game @msu.
We also said "that ain't happening" when there was a thread on here about UK losing to UCLA. Well it did happen.

Good grief, this is a joke thread. I mean anybody can anybody on any given night. Basketball is down this year. But you stop lee and they lose big. Lose.
Well, we couldn't stop Alford the other night and Alford couldn't hold Lee's shoe laces.
But then again, thst wasn't UK that was on the court Thursday night. I don't know who that was but I don't expect that team to be playing Louisville on 12/26. Or at least I hope they don't.

Wow you guys. One bad game, our first true road game, with Ulis not 100%, Lee getting injured and UCLA playing their game of the year, and you act like the sky is falling. It isn't and the loss will end up being a benefit to us in the long run. Relax and stop looking for reasons to doubt this team in very early December. We'll be fine.

The best day of the year is the day after we beat U of L and U of L fans just sit there in miserable silence.

They were out-rebounded by 10, won't happen again. UCLA was a fluke just like IU in 2012, couldn't miss in their own house.

8-1 coming up.

Pay no attention to his post. He was trying out some new sour mash....

I will admit that UofL is better than I thought they would be. They have plenty of big men to throw into the game. The problem is, they are not very good. Mahmoud is a big stiff, Stockman never sees the floor, Onuaku is decent but very foul prone and Mathiang is very limited, talent-wise.
Their two 5th year seniors are pretty good and will match up well with Briscoe and Murray. Their forwards are good, but not great.
I expect the game to be a closer than what I expected a month ago but UK, having better talent all around, and being at Rupp, should prevail by about 6-8 points.

I predicted this 2 months ago.

UofL would feast on the parade of losers on their non-conference schedule and perhaps even not embarrass themselves vs Michigan State while UK would battle through their vastly superior non-conference schedule. The result would be UofL fans growing delusion about how great they are and how overrated UK is and sadly we'd see many UK fans fall into that same trap.

It seems to happen every season.

Hey, we beat Duke. I hate them more than UL, so if given only the 2 options (beat UL or beat Duke), I'll take beat Duke.
Of course I would much prefer option 3 (beat them both).

And next year, just replace Duke w/ UNC for me in the pecking order.

Your predictions are correct oh Noseydummass..... (OP the name calling wasn't toward you it just seemed to fit the sitchyation....)

I hope we beat the $h*# out of the dirty birds and their fans will be in melt down syndrome

I have zero concern for several reasons:

1) Their front-court blows
So does ours right now....
2) We have better guards
Theirs aren't bad at all....
3) It's at Rupp, and crowd will be in to it
Our saving grace....
4) We will be jacked for this game, similar to Duke
So will they.....

It will be a closer game this year than you would like to think and honestly could go either way. However, this team needs to be battle tested several times this year. Glad they have the challenges.

I would say that even last year was kind of a fluke as well. That just doesn't happen in CBB today with teams like that. Even as bad as UCLA was last year they were just stone cold the first half. They had opportunities that just didn't fall. We would have still beat them handily no doubt. If this is as bad as it can get for us then I'm not too worried. We can say UCLA is a terrible team, but that doesn't mean they can't play like a top 5 team a few nights a season. If shots are falling it doesn't matter is your are 365th or 1st.
I thought UCLA went to the sweet 16 last year.
