The Ukraine war. (Yes, we'll mind our manners)

Mitch McConnell and Lindsay Graham, two of the biggest warhawks in Congress pushing for Ukraine funding, one of which has said Ukraine funding is one of the most important things the US congress has on its agenda, are the Russian wing of the GOP?

Well then I guess I’m on the right side standing in opposition to the Russian wing of the GOP that’s pushing for more Ukraine funding.

2017 would be the year of offense.... Weird right????

Oh. Keeping Russia in a perpetual war will stop China? It is far more likely that you get drafted because this war lingers and Ukraine needs bodies than it is you will be drafted to defend a Poland. 🤦‍♂️

Nice one Drama James.
The best way to keep China at bay would have been to normalize relations with Russia. It would have helped with militant islam and it would have put China in a precarious spot with Russia having China's entire norther border. We decided to make it nato and 10 other countries vs the world....

If only we’d sent more men, money, and equipment, right?
People like him love to send poor kids to die for his beliefs. I also love that guys like him will show NVA losses vs USA losses to show how bad we beat them..... They never want to show how many of our Vietnamese allies died in that war. That number is less.... positive.

No. If you want to show China we lack strength, don't support Ukraine. If you wish to send that message, your choice.

BTW, I heard 2-hand that on his love-in with Ingram the other night, Trump dodged saying he wouldn't support Ukraine.
So your plan is to send all our stuff to Ukraine and Israel and hope that prevents China from invading instead of them realizing we don't have the supplies to stop them????

What about Canada? The UK? Australia? And depends on the degree of risk.
Australia just did an assessment of their military readiness. You'll be shocked to learn they also only have a couple weeks of supply of ammo if China invaded. Their whole military plan is to fight long enough for us to get there.... Do you really think this is sustainable?

Not answering my question. But we don't owe Australia any more, or less, than we owe Ukraine.

No it isn't. Ukraine was the most corrupt country in the world in 2014. It's a criminal state. Taiwan is one of the most prosperous nations in the world and has been for decades.
While what you say is true, it's 10 years later. So we should support another country based on how prosperous it is?

Bad news for them. Since we've ceded all our manufacturing capabilities to China and Mexico, we can't produce enough ammo either. I have been warning everybody about this since the 90's. But hey, a bunch of Walmart heirs got to be billionaires so we're good.

No it hasn't. read a history book. Literally 100's of years of history. Kyiv was the capital of Russia for a bit. The head of the USSR was from Ukraine at one point. They were brothers. You can make up new facts but please quit changing history to justify war.

That reminds of the time I posted a video of pre-election Zelly, when he was campaigning on a platform of reconciliation with Russian separatistsin Donbas, saying clearly and unequivocally that Ukrainians and Russians were the same nation, the same people. This thread thought it must've been a deep-fake, like I was trying to pull something on them.

No, everyone with a base level understanding of this crisis knows they are indeed the same people. No, that doesn't mean Ukraine is a made-up state that doesn';t have the right to exist. There are lots of made-up states and thye all have the right to govern themselves without invasion or outside interference, the latter being a more novel thought than most realize.

Am I reading correctly nearly 6-7 invader planes have been shot down in the past 2 weeks? Including an A-50 AEW&C plane? Russians only have 1-2 of those left, that’s gotta hurt - about a $500 million plane. That’s a lot more air assets shot down than usual in such a short period of time. Question is - are they being shot down from the air or ground and with what? Did not think the F-16s were being utilized yet…

They've lost two A-50s. And a few SU-34 jets.

Ukraine is not winning this war. The US could win the war. But Ukraine isn’t going to without US boots on the ground.

If you guys support Ukraine flying F-16s into Russia to bomb them, which does absolutely nothing other than ensure the war is prolonged and expanded, you and your children should be the first people sent to the front lines.

The national security threat hoax last week didn’t work, so now I guess it’s time to tell Ukraine to really get the party started.

It was US and European meddling that started this war and the same is extending it. Time back back off and let them settle this for themselves. This is not an American issue and we should have never made it one.

If you support closing our borders, should you & your children be the first sent to the front lines?

Open border Vhcat trying to support a sovereign half a world away while promoting the destruction of the sovereign he calls home. Unbelievable.

You cannot both say that Russia is a great evil that must be stopped in its current quest in order to protect the West and then reject that your own family should have a role in the battle to defeat the evil presented. If the mission should take place without you or any real sacrifice, then the threat is grossly overstated. The pro-war people here often site Chamberlain when confronting naysayers, but then they act like there is no way they should have skin in the game. There is nothing Churchillian in that sort of couch potato confrontation of evil.

I would go to the border to protect our sovereignty if we had leadership that acknowledged the danger. In short, Vhcat’s knee-jerk analogy sucked, he just doesn’t realize it and wants to blame others for his own misunderstanding.

Okay, y'all know me well. Acknowledged Commie and, especially, Ivan hater.

At any rate, if I'm not mistaken, Journal of Democracy is not exactly a right-wing rag, but rather a quarterly academic journal. JoD take is not exactly comforting regarding Ukraine.

I’d MUCH rather send my kids south to protect our country than some far away European theatre we shouldn’t be involved with in the first place.

Securing our border is not rocket science and can be easily achieved. Just need leaders willing to do it and not promote open borders.

Needs to start with messaging. If they stop telling everyone they’re free to come in, a % won’t make the trip in the first place. Reinstate the remain in Mexico policy. Build the awful and terrible wall and patrol it.

Will we stop everyone? Of course not. Will it curb the current invasion, absolutely.

Border patrol agents aren’t asking for anything special, just support from their own gov’t, and it’s shocking they aren’t getting it.

Providing arms to those who's country is being invades is a role.

I take you disagreed with Patton that we should have went to war with USSR to stop the Warsaw pact from forming? Or that we should have stayed out of WW1. Or that we should have let the South go its own way? Or not stopped China in Korea? Or have blockaded Cuba in 1962?
