...or Memphis. Last time we checked the whole D. Rose ordeal was academic integrity to them.Originally posted by childe:
So now they claim they're not in the business of ensuring academic integrity? Eric Manuel should sue for all the grief they put him through.
Good post, you seem to have a legal background Barry. So what can the Universities like UK and the other blue bloods do? Is there anything that will get the attention of the NCAA and put enough pressure on them to straighten up their act?Originally posted by barryn2000:
This is what happens when you have a monopoly. They eventually become so large and powerful, they don't feel any connection or obligation to even their own rules, purpose, roots...let alone common law and common sense.
It's not like colleges can shop around for a better Athletic Association.
The NCAA want's the money, the power, the control, the boasting.....but none of the responsibility.
I lost all faith in the NCAA, first with the bizarre Derrick Rose ruling (he's cleared...oh wait, we f'd up so it's your fault) and then with the equally absurd Enes Kanter decision.
Imagine....If you sued your city over a zoning issue and a judge ruled in your favor for building a home and then later ordered you to bulldoze the house over and pay 1 million to the city because he screwed up....that's the Derrick Rose case.
Thank god our legal system isn't run like the NCAA. Nobody could ever depend on a court decision...every court ruling would be "temporary". Thank god our legal system follows the centuries old doctrine of res judicata (Res judicata pro veritate accipitur - A thing adjudged must be taken for truth).
Rose was cleared (judged) and if the NCAA cannot stand by it's own decisions....it should get out of the deciding process.
I hope the lose their homesick asses in the lawsuit. The NCAA is a co-conspirator in the UNC case.
So OJ is innocent.Originally posted by barryn2000:

I'm not a lawyer...just had plenty of battles, learned a lot researching. I've won several battles and never gone to court (against local govt). Just letting them know that you understand your rights under law is 70% of the fight.Originally posted by CBBCrazy:

Reminds me of the White House's stance on O'Care...first it was not a tax when they sold it to the pee-pul...then it was a tax in the Supreme Court argument.Originally posted by Samwise Ganjee:
This is at least the third time this week we've seen this double-talk from the NCAA
It says one thing on the NCAA webpages about their role
It says another when their lawyers get up in court and have to defend their idiocy to a judge and jury
Perception v reality
The NCAA is a sick joke and needs to go away somewhere and quietly die
I think you have your timeline wrong.Originally posted by knotonalog:
Barryn2000, You are correct about Rose being cleared to participate in NCAA, however you failed to mentioned that NCAA told Memphis officials that his SAT test was being investigated and later found to be someone else's handwriting. Memphis decided to play Rose anyway.
