This has got to be as close to the bottom for the program as possible, right? It has been a disaster since Covid.

0 SEC regular season titles. Haven’t really even competed for one. 20-21 finished 8th, 21-22 finished 3rd, 22-23 finished 3rd, this years team is currently in a log jam for 5th.

1 total SECT win. Losses to the likes of Miss St and Vandy in our first round games.

1 NCAAT win. One of the most embarrassing stats out of the bunch.

A ton of losses to rivals and the top 25. I never thought I’d see UK in this type of position. We haven’t competed for jack in close to 4 years. I’m not a title or bust kind of guy. But when you’re losing to rivals, not competing in your conference; well it’s time for a change up top. The players and staff has completely changed over this stretch, the only consistent has been Cal.

The final year of Tubby and the two years of Clyde were worse. The late 80's on probation were worse.

That said, we have never squandered talent like we are now. Our defense is historically bad.

That's utter nonsense about 2022 not competing for the sec title. If not for tyty going out in the AU game they win it. It was a 1 game difference.

Otherwise I agree 100%.

Wrong. Those 3 years weren't worse. And we still had some of our records and traditions that we've lost now. Anyone who thinks those years were worse has their eyes closed.

Cal is a victim of circumstance.
Current five star players are not good enough to carry a team and high profile transfers know that Cal’s mission is to prepare freshmen for the NBA and they don’t come here

The only reason I have hope is is that this program has been through a lot worse. The the corrupt NCAA tried to nuke us in the 80s.
Yeah, it was scary back then. The NCAA was such a monolithic power. I am forever grateful for the 1992 team for lighting the spark that brought us back into a new golden era in the mid- to late-90's.

I share your optimism. Kentucky will get back to greatness. We just need someone other than Barnhart at the helm to find us a new coach.

Cal is not a victim of anything but a situation of his own making. I agree that the 5-star freshman super team is less appealing in the era of super seniors, but Cal has plenty of resources at his disposal to make the necessary adjustments.

you are wrong . that era was not worse than this one ..

from the 2020 season til now we are 72 - 42 .. thats a 63% winning percentage.

the last 2 of Tubby and 2 of BCG were 84 - 52 but if you cut off BCG's 2nd season to have 10 games to go in the regular season like where we are now.... it would be 78-43 for 64% .............. now that team completely fell apart the last 10 games so this year has a chance to and should end up in a slightly better 4 year stretch. BUT as of right now this era is worse . and even if you disagree with me leaving the last 10 games out of the 2nd BCG season right now until this season is concluded......thats ok because the 4 years of Tubby BCG era had 4 SECT wins and 3 NCAAT wins ........... compared to this era that only has 1 SECT win and 1 NCAAT wins... meaning this team needs to make the finals and probably win the SECT and make the Elite 8 just to tie that 4 year Tubby BCG era.

So ................... there you have it....... this team has to win the SECT and Make the final four to be better than that era and even that would only be slightly better.

Beginning with 2015 we have been on somewhat of a decline as evidenced by the fact that was our last 1 seed in the tournament. However we at least made the tournament in 2016. 2017, 2018 & 2019. We also won either the SEC tournament and/or regular season title in 2016, 2017 & 2020. The greatest decline has been since that 2020 season. In that time, as many have said, our winning percentage overall, winning percentage against top 25 teams, lack of SEC regular season and tournament wins, lack of NCAA tournament wins, losing seasons, bad losses and turmoil have really made it difficult to get excited about the UK basketball.

They’re so many uncertainties it’s a shame. Point being, Cal really thinks he is Kentucky Basketball and he’s going to do whatever he wants without any consequences.

Zero losing seasons between cal and Bcg. Zero Cals losing season was a monster

The other era you mention was when the ncaa nearly put the program on death penalty. Yet fans the entire time we’re hopeful. No this is definitely the worse stretch

I said the last year of Tubby and the two years of Gillispie. During those years, UK had a record of 62-39 for a 61.3% win percentage. Meanwhile, Calipari has a record of 63-26 (70.7%) since the beginning of the 21-22 season. We would have to lose out to even get close to that win percentage.

If you're counting the the 2020 season and Tubby's penultimate season, you make a fair argument, but that's not the timeframe I referenced in my message. During those 4-year spans, Tubby/Gillispie are 84-52 (61.7%) and Cal is 72-42 (63.1%) with games remaining.

cherrypicking nonsense. Neither Tubby nor BCG ever went 9-16 and Tubby never missed the tournament. Cal holds the worst single season record in 100 years. That outweighs a couple of puny little percentage points.

It's unfortunate the stats don't validate your feels. The recency bias in some these posts is amusing.

The naivete you display in thinking that this decline isn't a pattern that's predictive of the future is astounding.
