About half an hour from first pitch. Cole Stupp will get the start for UK and the lineup will look like this:

Curtis - 3B
Harmon - RF
Collett - 1B
Schultz - 2B
Anu - DH
Rhodes - LF
Daniel - CF
Holen - C
Golda - SS
Stupp - P

Not a good sign that no Shelby in the lineup. Might mean he is pretty banged up. Outfield defense could be shaky.

Fairly normal broadcast today with the actual camera behind the pitcher!! Also.. creams!!!

Lead off double in the gap to left center. Nation's best HR hitter by the numbers is coming up to hit now. He gave it a ride, but right at Rhodes. Scary pitch there. Single past a diving Golda tests Rhodes' arm early and his throw is late and off line and Tech scores to take the lead. 1-0. Runner takes second on throw.

According to Gabriel... Cam Hill done for the year with a broken wrist. Shelby out for a bit, but wasn't clear how long.

Flynn stating that Stupp doesn't have any off-speed pitches. Basically a slider and a fastball, but nothing that really changes speed a whole lot.

Now an error on the UK defense once again. This one should go against Schultz as he just lets a ball tail on him and get past him into center. Tech runner moves up 90 feet to third with 1 out.

A strikeout for Stupp and then Harmon runs one down at the warning track to end the top of the 1st.

Lefty freshman Ty Fisher starting for the Golden Eagles. He has pitched in just 1 inning so far this year. Given up a few hits, but no runs. UK should be able to rattle him.

Lead off walk for Curtis.

Didn't realize it, but Tennessee Tech's coach has only been with them since January. They hired Justin Holmes after the UK alum Matt Bragga left to go to Rive, but they fired Holmes in November due some conduct issues. So, they hired Steve Smith, who was an assistant at Auburn and the head coach at Baylor prior to that.

Curtis steals second and he is now hurt. He is writhing in pain. Not sure what happened. Not sure if the ball hit him or the tag caught him, or if it is something with the slide. Actually looks like they are looking at a knee or an ankle. Looks like they are already bracing this thing. Not good.

Yep. Air cast going on.

Back to back games and UK loses three players to injuries. This one seems serious as well. Could be that Curtis and Cam are lost for the year. Wow.

They are carrying him off now. Putting him on the gator.

I assume that Rhodes is going to go to third and Will Grace is heading to second to pinch run and maybe play third.

By the way, Harmon struckout on the pitch that Curtis stole on. Collett then grounds out to first, which advances Grace.

Tech has a guy whose last name is Littlejohn. That is a new one on me.

Schultz up. Sends one right back up the middle on a line drive into center to tie the ball game 1-1. Austin does his job and picks up another RBI.

Anu now up and Schultz steals second on the first pitch. He goes in hands first and over slides the bag. Pretty crazy how far he slid. He started the slide like 5 yards from the bag. Throw was off, so he was able to easily get back to the bag.

Schultz also steals third. Got there pretty easily.

Anu walks.

Looked like a hit and run, and he slid into second and his ankle got messed up. Awful.

I saw the play, but just didn't notice the injury when it happened. So, didn't see if it was caught on the bag or the turf or what. Either way, they knew it was bad immediately.

Anu steals second easily. Rhodes then hits a dying quail into left and the diving left fielder can't hang onto the ball and it scores two Wildcats. 3-1 UK. They will give Rhodes a single on that one.

Rhodes tried to steal second and I think he got there in time, but he couldn't keep his foot on the bag and he gets tagged out to end the UK half of the first.

Going to the 2nd with UK up 3-1.

Good inning for UK minus the Curtis injury.

Drew Grace does stay in a third.

Stupp gets his second strikeout to start the 2nd. Very nice job pitching that hitter. Changed levels, changed locations. Got the strikeout with a fastball down and away. He follows it up with another strikeout.

Stupp left one up and gave up a leadoff single. Collett then commits a fielding error and a single to center scores the run. 3-2

OK We now have to have 20 errorless games to get to Mingione's 0.980 fielding percentage to be competitive. That is really hard to imagine given the position shuffling we have now had to accomplish. I think we just have to be ready to have a really rough season. I was expecting that any way, but someone has loosened all the lugnuts and the wheels are getting wobbly.

Cats win a shortened game 10 run rule after 7. 13-3. Big inning to close it out for UK. Take away the errors and it is exactly how you want it.

I just got back from the game. They're on a roll now. 5 games in a row.

I love the new baseball stadium.

They can win the next 4 games as well. They play EKU tomorrow and then a 3 game series vs. UNC-Wilmington

I hope a lot more UK fans start going to the baseball games when it warms up. There wasn't a lot of people there today or yesterday.

Does coach mingione not do postgame interviews anymore? I’d like to hear his thoughts on his team and get injury reports

Gambino looked pretty good. That's a positive, but another field player going down is really bad. You can't really have Harmon in the outfield.

I think it's suppose to be 60ish next week maybe they will. We ran over the other night after the women's game and stayed 4 innings. We weren't dressed for it and left after the 13th it was cold! Looked really nasty today. Pouring down rain at the end.
