I don't get it either..he single handedly lost us the Florida game with his "sure hands" yet we have him catching punts

How many has he returned this year? Maybe 1? Normally he calls a fair catch and the ball bounces about 10 yards towards our end zone.
Agreed...mentally he's a totally lost player the last 2 years out there.

THe kid mentally doesn't play well and given that we have Conrad, Juice, Boom, Bone, Baker, etc.. trying to get more touches...TImmons is out of rotation barring injury to me.
I still can 't believe he is even a candidate. Last year the guy was butterfingers. I'm scared every time he touches it. Tonight he's been especially bad.

To be fair, our last few haven't worked out so well. I figured with no STC and Timmons returning kicks, we finally just gave up.

That's Abney in the picture. Lyons was the one with the block in the LSU games. They were a few years apart.
He has been passed by some very talented kids on the wr unit.

Always hard to tell how good a kid is in HS. He played against pitiful competition, so when someone stands out that much, hard to tell if it's the player or those around him. Other schools obviously wanted him too but man, he hasn't really shown much at UK and has had several opportunities.
Horrible returning punts and almost screwed us on the kick return fumble. He needs to be completely off of the special teams depth chart.
I think he's in his own head now. There's no denying he's talented, but I think the drops he had last year messed with him mentally. Also, Charles Walker must be a practice All-American to continue getting playing time over scholarship players.
Say what you want about Timmons, but he is the most elusive player we have in the open field. Problem is, it's hard to get him in space. He definitely still lacks ball skills.
love these Timmons experts here...maybe Stoops will ask y'all what you think of him...if he returns a punt return for a TD, he'll be the greatest you've ever seen...settle down and let Coach Stoops decide what to do. sure it can be frustrating but he's a kid doing his best...GO CATS!
I agree with those who say he's regressed. I thought he would be a tremendous player but he's getting worse. His judgment on punt returns had been tragic. Really hope he can get things turned around but he's been a non factor up to this point.
Special teams has been much better than last year imo. King has been really good on kickoffs and our special teams defense has been pretty solid. And we've had no turnovers on ST so there is that.
We actually have several coaches for special teams, it's not like they are coaching themselves. You think having Buh and Manoird has been worth not having a dedicated ST coach? I certainly do.
Looks like Timmons has turned into this weeks Towles for the fans to hate on. He is an SEC level player, he was deserving of the attention he got out of high school, unfortunately things are in his head at this point in his career because he has clearly regressed since his Freshman season. We have a few WRs that have a good chance of playing on Sundays that are straight up just better than Timmons. I would assume the reason he is returning punts is because the staff was looking for more ways to get the ball in his hands, but its just something he doesnt look comfortable doing. Talented upperclassmen are backups all around the league, it is a product of having more talent on the field.
Yes, when he runs one back it will be like Towles and everyone will talk about how great he is. I accept the fact that coaches know way more than us regarding who should be returning kicks... He did line up in the backfield a couple of times. I liked that... The kid can do some things in the open field and we need to find ways to get him the ball there... That said, fielding the punt at the 2 was a horrible decision. I think he is just anxious to make a play and shut people up.
Has he busted a single big play since coming to uk?
I honestly cannot recall a single one...
