😁The current situation does sort of resemble the Bryant V. Rupp situation back in the day. Basketball and Football had reached an impasse, basketball won. Some people think had Bryant stayed and Rupp left Kentucky would have become a football school and basketball would have been second tier, but who knows? At any rate football is getting arguably better while basketball has sort of been spinning wheels. Football is gaining fan support while basketball seems to be losing some. Football oriented fans seem positive and have a good time most of the season while basketball oriented fans seem to stay in a state of constant frustration. I hope this situation becomes resolved and the two programs and their head coaches align themselves behind the one university and show mutual respect and unity. I don't want to see a split and one sport feels like they are the loser. Bottom line as Mitch has always preached we can be great and EVERYTHING not just one thing.
Stoops has been fighting against this “basketball school” rhetoric for years. If your wife had weight issues for years and was finally making real progress, would you decide to tell her she’s still fat right when her hard work was starting to pay off.

Actually I've been thinking for some time now that this will be Stoops last year at UK, even before dipshit's comments. The foot dragging on the whole track/Nutter thing will turn out to be the initial nudge toward the door. Don't think it'll be Auburn but a Midwest school instead, Iowa probably. He'll want to go where he has full control.
The Nebraska position could be 1 to make us very nervous. He & Vince could still recruit the Midwest. Wouldn't have to beg for facilities or NIL. Def no bball coach trying to hog the spotlight.
FWIW, I think your AD gets this under control, but would Vince be considered for the head coach if Stoops did move on?

Cal will be gone before Stoops. The Big Time Donors are all behind Stoops and NOT Cal. Mitch worked QUICKLY to get the football program the money for a new indoor practice upgrade that's why Cal is PISSED at Mitch and KICKED the football program to show his displeasure.

Probably... if he wanted to be, rather than follow Stoops. I don't think coordinator experience is necessary. Ultimately, I agree that this probably does not lead to his exit. In fact, I think Stoops might simply dig in his heels. It's kind of his nature, and I love it.
The willingness to accept or ability to ignore his narcissism is what I find most disappointing in the legion of front running UK hoops fans.
No idea how old Vince is, but he looks at least mid 50's. He may have no ambition to be a head coach. Sam Pittman was a longtime OL coach, never been a coordinator. At 59 Arkansas came calling to offer him the Arkansas job. As you know he accepted, hire a couple top level coordinators and has the program on the rise. So there is precedent for a non coordinator to be successful, Beamer is another. But I think this gets smoothed over, they may never like each other much, but the public downgrading of the other's program is over.

Opposing football coaches use the "UK is a basketball school" line to recruit against UK. Now we have a high profile coach, within the UK athletic department, telling the world that UK is a basketball school. It is very difficult to recruit high profile players to UK. While Stoops has done a remarkable job upgrading the tallent, he needs every little advantage he can get to move UK up the ladder. I don't care if Cal's comments are true. There was no good reason for him to say that in public. He should have went to Mitch face to face to get the new practice facility. Trying to drum up public support by belittling the football program through the media was the wrong approach.
Eventually people show you who they really are. Cal did it in spades.
Calipari is adding fuel to the fire that will consume him if the basketball team has an underwhelming finish again this year.

Is Florida a football school? LSU? Penn State? Iowa? Only football schools win 10 games and a New Years bowl. I have gone to one basketball game in the past 10 years at Rupp, and was bored. I love my football season tix. Cal stepped in it and damn well better look like a basketball school this post season. Because, it’s been a minute.

Probably a good idea to start trying to move the public narrative away from this dust up, so I give him credit for that. Football season will be starting soon and no one will be talking abut this anymore.

Probably ends up a net win. Cal is humbled a bit, and Stoops looks like an alpha for his team, his recruits, and national media. On the down side, Alabama/Clemson/Oklahoma boosters probably all like Stoops more than ever for whenever they and other blue bloods have their next opening.

The first thing that those coaches say when competing against UK football for recruits is that UK is a football school. Who is Calipari getting paid by Alabama or Georgia? The damage has been done and can’t be undone by an apology by Calipari. Barnhart should fine him 1 million dollars and put the money into a collective for football players only. This may appease the recruits

UK is finally competitive in the sport the conference cares about. He doesn’t seem to like it or get it either one.

yeah he tends to lay low when things are so positive but when they start trending his way he feels his oats and the jaw starts working overtime.
I don't really know him and don't want to say negative things about one of your coaches no matter haw mad yall are at him. But I watched some of their exhibition game, talk about being loaded, long, lean and athletic. I could win 30 games coaching that team. So yeah I agree with you, feeling it and wanting to get some attention.
