Stoops to A&M?

1. This is baloney....Stoops isn't getting the Texas AM job
2. Even if he does.....what players are giong to Texas Am with him? They have dudes all over the place in all kinds of positions. Maybe D Walker is the only guy....maybe a Hairston or a Wallace. But the Ohio kids aren't going, etc...
It wouldn’t be to go with him necessarily just moving on to another place in general would be the concern.

I just don’t see aTm hiring Stoops. Maybe I’m wrong. But if UK does have to hire a new head coach, I seriously hope they go with an offensive minded coach.

UK is still a SEC school....Big 10 schools and SEC schools are good slots for football players....better than ACC, PAC, B12 programs. (Notice we take kids from those conferences...not lose them).

And if Stoops were to leave.....we'd bring a coach that would have his own ability to lure players to Lexington.

Jimbo had all those things...and he coached FSU to a Natty..... all that NIL money and resources didn't make him successful enough for A &M . What makes you think it would for Stoops?......many talented kids don't wanna play in an offense that moves At a snails pace and CMS is married to that idea it seems
More example that NIL isn’t the total savior. I’m not saying it can’t help. I also noticed stoops post game with Jones he mentioned the nil comment but defended it as though ‘I was complementing them that they were able to raise money not say anything bad about them’. He still seems off the mark. I mean the real issue with his own fans was the excuse making portion of it not the ‘he pointed fingers at people’

You’re right. I’m not overly concerned about it other than the scramble that comes from the timing of it in the first year. But brohm showed it’s possible to actually come out ahead

Are there?
Which ones, that would actually take the job? And could they have gotten the talent to Lexington to begin with?
I feel like we’re only a few years removed from you all saying you didn’t think what Stoops has done was possible. Which is it?

Has he peaked, or has UK as a football program peaked?
Fans, especially posters on here, aren't smart enough to admit Stoops' last 8 yrs has far overachieved what a program like UK has the ability and resources to do

Bottom of the SEC in the kind of fan support that matters....money. compare the fan donation to athletics of UK to the rest of the now 16 team conference, it is embarrassing.

Bottom of the SEC in close access to elite recruiting talent. Stoops has to convince 20+ kids a yr to choose a school hours away from home. Rest of the SEC can build a roster from the nearby neighborhoods.

We'll see the reality of this soon. I'll just put this fact right here right now: if he leaves, no matter who UK hires, won't have a better 8 yr run than the one we just finished. And when we don't you useless dumb shits will just say I'd of hired coach XYZ who woulda won better instead!!!!

Putting words in my mouth doesn't answer the question.
Cuz you’re moving the goal posts. I agree, most people who could aren’t falling over themselves to come here, but that wasn’t your original point. If Stoops were a better coach we would be more successful, which is why I laugh at these situations. A&M are ****ing idiots for throwing the bag at this guy.

I didn't move a goal post.
Has stoops peaked or UK program? Who could have done better?

What goal post was moved?

Edit: and the program is more successful than it's been in decades.

So you were one of those people saying that? Why lie? You realize the inconsistency then?

Who could do better is a different question than who we can realistically get, that should be obvious.

Nowhere did I say he hasn’t been overall successful, relative to where the program was. Which is why I’m not one of the people calling him to get fired without something promising lined up.

What are you talking about? I wasn't, I didn't, what inconsistency?

It should be obvious that I'm taking about the really real world not a hypothetical one. So when I say "who could do better?" I also mean "that UK could realistically hire, because Saban could probably do better but that's a dream world."

Texas A&M must need a coach that can recruit Ohio and get the ones Ohio State doesn't want.

You have short term memory loss? I’m not repeating everything I’ve said. Go back and read.

Clearly you’re content to barely make a bowl game every year. Have fun.

Barely make a bowl game? My man, he took us from a 2 win program with the occasional 7 win season to a 7 win program with an occasional 10 win season. With no in state recruiting base to rely on, and little NIL money to compete with the people we have to compete with.

A&M might be unhappy with the hire, but they're about to get a coach that took a bottom feeder and made it competitive, while having recruiting classes near the bottom of the conference.

And you still never answered who could we get that could do better.

The only way this is true is A&M has struck out with their first 95 options.

Anyone dumb enough to believe this is probably qualified to be the athletic director at the University of Kentucky.
Looks like I’m the dummy. Have to imagine they struck out with some of their top candidates.

This seems like something a certain coaches camp would put out to show a fanbase that is currently upset with him that he has other offers and to show them that they should be grateful for him when in reality he never had a A&M offer and they were never really interested
Tonight, multiple online sources are reporting Stoops has accepted the TX A&M HC job.

I suppose I really can't blame him. He saved our football program but all he hears about it in Lexington is bellyaching. And for those who have insisted Stoops is overpaid, you are dead wrong since TX A&M is defining his present true market value by hiring him away.

Best of luck, Coach Stoops, and thanks for all the memories.

For those wondering what will happen now, Jon Sumrall would be my first guess. But Stoops' success has changed the profile of the UK job, so it could be someone with more experience. Let's hope our new football coach receives more public support from our bipolar fan base than Stoops did.

And finding diamonds in the rough from New Jersey, Detroit, etc. You make a good point, it's not what A&M needs to do, but for now it's still what UK needs until our Nil game catches up. That could be a little while.
