Stoops situation eerily similar to Cal's

It really is doddling toward the cliff much the same. Only problem with this situation: I don’t see an Arkansas coming to save us this time. Cal still had some juice behind his name that would entice someone. I’m not sure Stoops does, at least in regard to another program willing to pay him enough to bounce.

Highly paid but not performing. Not recruiting as well. No enthusiasm about the direction of the program.

I'm not talking about Cal's first 6 or 7 seasons either. Stoops is not worth the contract he is getting.
Nope definitely not worth being paid the #9 best in the nation! It’s like once they both got their “ lifetime contracts” they both went fishing while still both supposed to be on the job coaching!

It breaks my heart to say this unironically for the first time, but I think we need to consider firing Stoops (farrr Stoops). I think it's abundantly clear that he's lost his team, his fire, and the fanbase. If CMS wants his legacy to be as untarnished as possible, he needs to step down.

UK faithful can probably get over the precipitous decline in play and wins, but to stubbornly hold on for a paycheck or ego while a great coach like Sumrall goes somewhere else would be unforgivable.

Sumrall needs to be the future of UKFB. If he were coach, he would lead the team as a member of the Stoops coaching tree. That's a great legacy to leave on top of Stoops' best seasons and memorable Louisville whippings.

I just hope Stoops resigns before Mitch has to make the decision for him... Which, hopefully Mitch has the cojones to make that call if necessary. I love the coaches and I want them to go out on their own terms.

Mitch ain’t making that call. Can’t. He handcuffed himself with the contract. Only ways Stoops leaves this year is if he gets another job or he takes a settlement. I don’t see either happening.
