Stock Advice Thread

Why may I ask?

If you are willing to buy the service....don't you think other consumers will too?

That would make it a good long term investment especially under this "Green Energy' Administration we have in power now. Curious for your thought process.
Not the best market for SPAC's right now.

MU has treated me well, NVDA flat after a long run up.
Yup sold MU after a 35% gain or so late last year. Should have held on in this value market. Already playing with house money in NVDA but right now growth is totally unloved. Even if revenues grew 61% last quarter.

I got some AMAT last week, may have already made its move, same for GM with the chip shortage.

I think you have a winner if more chips are to be manufactured to meet this demand. Seems like almost a sure thing. This is why KLAC and LRCX also work imo.

Just like that NVDA bounced back over $600. They just announced getting into the CPU space for data centers. It seems INTC is taking a hit for this very reason. Might be a good time to get in to INTC after a nice run.

Now, I need to be patient on my holdings in chips, gun ammo, RV, gardening and other recreational stocks, they should work well. Cruise lines and ABNB nibbling for later in year, methinks. Gambling and Infrastructure stocks I hold seem to be in a pause. CROX and ARCB working well, probably too well.

Ok, I’m in a hot SPAC for now, MUDS, Michael Eisner, well known former Disney CEO is involved and sports’ card collectible company, Topps, will be the end result. Topps, Inc, once had its own listed stock back when baseball card collecting was at its hottest in the the 1980s or so. I switched from card buying and trading to stock buying in the 1990s.

Got a few baseball and football cards somewhere. Nothing major. A few rookie cards like Barry Larkin I think. Whatever year that is, '87? Good luck!

More of a fun play short term for me. One stock to watch (I think) is LAZY as we enter the RV travel season very soon, visited a couple of in-laws last spring at a Fl RV camp soon after they sold their Tn home in retirement to live full time in an RV. Those camps are crammed full of campers from all over and that trend will likely continue after the Covid year. They traveled west and north in the summers, wintered in Fl, then south Texas this year. RBLX is another recent IPO on the rise that I bought.

I have a bunch that I collected in the 80-90's. I need to go through them because you don't know what you might have. I might have some guy who at the time was an unknown guy......but has since become HOF material. I do have a Walter Payton, lots of early Michael Jordan, autographed Barry Sanders, etc, etc.

I've also wondered what it would be like to buy guys who are really hot. Let's say, Patrick Mahomes. Right now, he's a guy who has played 4 years and won a SB......so, his rookie card might be bought for just a couple of bucks right now.......but his career trajectory is stellar right now. I wonder if you bought a collection of cards like these over a few decades if you would come out ahead.....and by how much?

The industry has changed a bunch-professional grading services, autographs and uniforms got big, I don’t follow anymore. I had several cards and sets from the 1950s and early 1960s I put in two bank lockboxes and sold my cards between the 1970s-80s, as the supply increased dramatically...fun was over for many veteran investors at that point. I had a ball going to many shows and trading cards with people all over the country to complete older sets. Younger investors can tell you much more about profiting on newer cards.

interesting day, it opened at $386, popped at $424 then ended at $328. Gotta love IPO's.

It was definitely a ride. One analyst that I follow had the thought process of <$400 buy heavily, <$500 buy mildly, avoid >$550-600. I bought in at ~$400. After hours activity indicates a bump today, but I'm still down. Not worried though because I hold long term. I really, really hope it's like when I bought into Palantir. I bought in and it basically flatlined......then over the next 6 wks it climbed to well over 100-150%.

I started a custodial account for my teenage son, and am wondering what I should buy for him first? He's always been pretty good about holding on to his money, but I want him to see and learn the benefits of compound interest early in life. I was thinking about a monthly dividend stock so he can somewhat regularly see it grow from reinvesting, and hopefully inspire him to save even more in the future, any thoughts?

If you were making an initial investment of $500 or so, what would you buy for your child?

Any other tips and advice about a custodial account is welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

OCGN had some FOMO late today on potential to provide COVID vaccine in India contingent upon FDA approval in U.S. ... that was fun.

PSFE ... finally showed some life after being shorted down after their merger at the end of March. Earnings report coming up on May 11. I m expecting this to really pop. This is way underpriced IMO.

$100B in transaction volume, about 3500 employees, more than $1.5B in revenue and priced at just over $13. Provides payment processing for Coinbase, DraftKings, casinos, leading gaming payment processer, etc.

Great dad!

For $500, a couple thoughts come to my mind....

-Buying a few things teaches to be a little diverse. You don't have to go crazy....just plant the seed in his head about the benefits of diversity.

-Start with a staple.....like SPY. It's naturally diverse, steady performer. Funds in general are good for those first starting out.

-There's a rule of thumb for sailing that fits as well. "Always keep one hand on the boat." SPY would work here......but also Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, etc. Something that is very unlikely to lose money long term.

-Now that you have one hand on the boat, you can reach out into dicier waters. Buy something fun and what he's interested in. Is he into cars, outdoors, sports, video games, etc. Something that thinks might go off in the future?....etc.

-Teach patience. When you've chosen "what" you're gonna buy, teach him "when" to buy. He might have to wait until something goes on sale.

SPY would be awesome, but pricey.

I checked his balance, and there's more there than I thought. Think I'm going to move $1,000 into the custodial account. Was thinking half into something like PG and the rest into a monthly paying ETF like QYLD or RYLD.

Depending on what service you use, you could do fractional shares for SPY.

Those two terrific, thank you, I like them better once I understand the purpose of the company, you must study the ownership and company profile carefully, RBS!

Feeling very good about the SPAC pullback. At least from a buying POV.

PSTH, RAAC and VGAC in which I already have a new small position.

Buying GAN on Monday. Looking at PENN and RSI and maybe more FUBO for my gambling fix.

How about INSP for sleep apnea? And TREX for building your deck as lumber prices have increased?

Will be getting APPH at some point. Got to help the commonwealth.

Anyone buying RBLX yet?

Those are my thoughts this week.

Be careful with the SPAC's. The selling may not be over by a long shot but I still like IPOE although I'm down about 8%.
I think TREX and AZEK both work.
I still like retail, banks and financial related disruptor companies also. I don't think rates are done going up.

My top holdings as of close of market today:
CrowdStrike
Okta
Academy Sports
Walmart
GE
Gilead science
Lucid Motors
Carnival Cruiselines
Lululemon
I like your diversification. If this were mine, Walmart might be my biggest bet. Lucid the smallest because it seems to be the most speculative.

Could use a financial company maybe.

After looking a bit more today, my plan is thus:
LEAPs on VGAC and APPH, buying GAN and RSI, and adding to APPN which has contracted on no news and is just above it's 200MA.

Also adding to JD. Below 200MA, 1.04 P/sales, 4.14 P/book, 15.7 trailing P/E. It's been a big winner for me already.

Going to wait on RAAC and forgot that PSTH doesn't even know what it's getting yet.

Perhaps the SPAC's are indeed back. Another rally today. CCIV is up 30% in 4 days. NGA is up 37% in the same timeframe. A wild ride for sure!
