From what he said the coaches know he isn't coming here. Possibly even a either/or with Anglin. Since he's off the board I wonder if they'll be recruiting the CB from Louisville that transferred to Oakland in Murfreesboro.Looks like we're going to lose out on Kirkland now...
JRow put in a futurecast to FSU
I think this has had the biggest effect on this class, over all the other issues and concerns people haveI think coaching turnover has effected this class a little. Once Scangarello, Yenser, and Mike prove some things on the field and get their feet dug in, we’ll be snagging top 20 classes.
Last year at this time, Fearbry was committed to PSU and Albert to Auburn. Also Deone Walker seemed a long shot to most. Fearbry committed late Sept, the other two in Dec. A lot can change as the season startsWe could still get at least 3 more 4 stars in Spencer Gilbert and Hyatt
Exactly, we could be feeling much better about this class come DecemberLast year at this time, Fearbry was committed to PSU and Albert to Auburn. Also Deone Walker seemed a long shot to most. Fearbry committed late Sept, the other two in Dec. A lot can change as the season starts
Well, UL has 4 new assistants on staff this year, one of which is responsible for landing most of these 4-star guys (Lance Taylor). Stoops hired non-recruiters. Guys without a Day 1 network. This is what happens when you go down that path.I think coaching turnover has effected this class a little. Gilbert strikes me as waiting on best NIL deal, which is pretty understandable for a recruitGilbert stuff has been quiet it seems
huh? UL's class is so good because of the QB recruit father who works for Adidas. You think it's because of hand shaking' at a BBQ?Well, UL has 4 new assistants on staff this year, one of which is responsible for landing most of these 4-star guys (Lance Taylor). The last I looked at his Twitter the only pictures was him on his LSU visit. I don't think it has anything to do with NIL. He has a picture holding the national championship trophy. I think LSU is where he wants to go and they asked him to wait. Now it's just a waiting gameGilbert strikes me as waiting on best NIL deal, which is pretty understandable for a recruit
JR said there was some buzz he may commit during the week of his 1st game but that has died down. He there is nothing to suggest his interest in UK is wanting. Who knows just have to wait and see.🤞Kelly & his deep Midwest recruiting history tough to beat for an Indiana kid
Yeah it’s been slow because of fall campHello…….Hello….Is this thing on???
We shouldn't waste time in Indiana or Missouri.Kelly & his deep Midwest recruiting history tough to beat for an Indiana kid
That's laughable. It gave fodder to you guys with an agenda.Cal’s comment had to make things tougher for Coach Stoops and staff.
Is Gilbert trending toward LSU or are you just speaking generallyWe shouldn't waste time in Indiana or Missouri.

Kendrick Gilbert has crystal ball predictions for Kentucky. He has not had a crystal ball prediction for anywhere since June. Where is he going? Is Gilbert trending toward LSU or are you just speaking generally
As camp developments show, yeah, the '23 class badly & desperately need a quality ready to contribute tackle. Not another project like Wood, someone who can play to back up our desperately thin tackle numbers.Badly? IDK about badly. Stoops' comment about being thin at OT was made in the specific context of Josh Jones not being available due to injury. Jones should be back in 2023. Kiyaunta Goodwin, Nik Hall, and Malachi Wood are solid OT prospects. Deondre Buford and Jeremy Flax were solid in spring practice and drew strong reviews from Coach Stoops. Unless Stoops was blowing smoke, which is not his style, both Buford and Flax could be multiyear starters. I am all in favor of signing one more OT prospect in this class, and won't be surprised at all if that happens. You can never have enough of them. But I'm not sure it is a "must" kind of need for this class at this point. I would say it is more like they would take another OT if they can get exactly who they want in the fall. We already have a good group there.
I will be happy to eat my words if we sign him. After watching UK football since Rick Norton was the QB and I can only remember one player from Indiana about 25 years ago. Corner back I believeKendrick Gilbert has crystal ball predictions for Kentucky. He has not had a crystal ball prediction for anywhere since June. Where is he going?
Hmm apparently Wiltfong says it’s down to us and Purdue. Some people have said he was really high on LSU but they’ve got the recruiting rolling down there it’s possible he’s a lower priority and doesn’t want to wait. I like our odds to beat Purdue out.Kendrick Gilbert has crystal ball predictions for Kentucky. He has not had a crystal ball prediction for anywhere since June. Where is he going?
I get that. Just one man's opinion. You have to start somewhere. Indiana is within a practical radius of Lexington, and the drive from Indianapolis to Lexington is interstate highway. Nobody gets all players they want from any state. I do not think it matters now where Hal Mumme, Rich Brooks, and Joker recruited. In Indiana, Stoops is recruiting against Notre Dame, IU, and Purdue. Notre Dame recruits nationally. Recruiting against IU and Purdue is potentially more promising than recruiting against UGA or Clemson. If you were a promising young football player, would you rather play in Bloomington, West Lafayette, or Lexington? In addition to recruiting Kendrick Gilbert, Stoops is recruiting his teammate Danny O'Neil. They are interested and could be important players for us.I will be happy to eat my words if we sign him. Gilbert's teammate is a 4 star 2024 qb, who also is high on UK and PurdueHmm apparently Wiltfong says it’s down to us and Purdue. Joker tried to make a battering ram out of Morgan Newton. Joker had seen Cam Newton's success at Auburn, but Cam Newton had a better Oline than Morgan had. Morgan ran very upright. His throwing shoulder got hurt, and that was it for him. A shame. Also signed a 4 star quarterback from Indiana 13 years ago, but they had to play in Jokers offense.
The article this week was from Purdue. He said he had made a decision that LSU was trying to get back in but he had already made up his mind. Not word for wordIs Gilbert trending toward LSU or are you just speaking generally
Does this sound good for us? I kinda think so.The article this week was from Purdue. He said he had made a decision that LSU was trying to get back in but he had already made up his mind. Not word for word
50/50. It seems he likes Purdue and it's close to home. Lexington is only 3.5 hrs from Indy. Not a lot of differenceDoes this sound good for us? I kinda think so.
I hope so.Demetrius Bell decommitted from MSU today. It seems he is good friends with Barion and UK is closer to Nashville area. It was said he could be flipping then the next day he decommitted. He could be our next WR commit
You would think. Hope we keep an OC around to find outI hope so.
I wonder who we'll get in the portal at QB next year because they're going to have an embarrassment of riches. You'd think a 5 star QB would see all the talent we have at WR right now and going to have.
Yeah, I have a feeling Scangarello wants to do what Coen did. Have a good year then hopefully get a OC job in the NFL.You would think. Hope we keep an OC around to find out
