State of 2023 Recruiting

We will have several options for speed tosses/end around(s) for years to come.
I thought Drennen looked good in the spring. A smooth runner that can hit another gear pretty fast. Hasn't been a lot of talk about him at running back. Stoops said that Key gives us something we haven't had in a while being able to get deep and Brown looks like he could give us a one two punch getting deep on certain sets, really opening up the field. And I am anxious to see Crowdus this season, his quickness could just add to that.

Word on Betrand is that aTm asked him to wait till fall for his visit. He set a commitment date instead. A few weeks ago it appeared AU may be ahead He seems to like Syracuse even said it was his dream school growing up. The announcement was supposedly a surprise but UK feels like they're in the lead here
When Betrand visited here with Ramsey during the second week of June, I had a good feeling about it. In fact, Ramsey committed to UK shortly thereafter. Betrand would be a great add for the BBW. Huge, nasty, and used to good competition. But the longer this has drawn out, the larger his list gets. He has become interested in so many SEC programs now that he put off his announcement date to sort everything out. That can't be good for UK. We may still sign him, but I don't see much at the present time to give encouragement. If this is a bidding contest, TAM should be at an advantage. Offers from GA, Auburn, and PA St have also been reported. I have no idea which of those are committable. But the best pathway for UK to sign him might be if he gets tentative and waits so long that other programs fill up. That's more or less how we signed Tevin Wallace and Barion Brown.

UGA flipped a PSU player about a month ago. OT Josh Miller. Betrand is of similar build. I don't know if that made his offer committable or not. I think they are waiting on 2-3 other chips to fall.

Did he cancel his decision date? He just set it two days ago. On his Twitter it is July 30th and JR and others believe it is down to UK and Syracuse

Edit:. I think you confused Gilbert and Betrand. Gilbert delayed his commitment date waited on LSU. Betrand just set his date. It seems he isn't interested in waiting for aTm

A valuable skill.

This sounds like a Stoops’ “Money Ball,” move: find a freakish sized player with length to affect the game.

Back in Brook’s era we had a 6’ 6” dude that blocked a bunch one season, and then left college ball.

I can’t remember his name!

Lonnie Dewalt, maybe?
Sounds right, he was a BB player too.

I am VERY CONCERNED that most of this class so far is leaning heavily towards the back half alphabetically. We really need Dixon to help balance that out. I'll be ok with it, either way, but it is a concern for the ocd folks out there
Finally, a legit cause for concern. Watch out Bama, we have better support than you.

There really is no comparison there. Comparing UK to Bama as the other poster did, or say OSU, UGA, ND, etc is isn't realistic when they're in the CFP and title picture most years. They also and should with the guys they get produce a lot more NFL guys and def 1st Rd picks. Yet they have freshman that get a lot of PT, again you can't compare because they're generally a lot higher ranked prospects. OSU had a starting RB and CB true Freshman, ND starting LT, UGA starting TE, A&M starting RT. I think those were all 4 stars and Joe Alt ND a 3 star. Again you can't compare what UK has/is doing to any of those, since the situations aren't the same nor are the players in most instances. PT may not be a factor as you said but your comparisons though skewed are wrong
Georgia's four star freshmen TE should have been a six star.

Awesome positive news on Godfrey & Addison. Great defensive adds, that side needs guys. Please please please let's get good vibes on Kendrick Gilbert.

Who cares about his academics, take Spencer's commit if he is ready to give it.

Where does Addison rank with DB’s, currently is ranked like 1000th but that’s as a WR, his offer list after he decommitted was way better being projected as a DB

Who knows if he will change any, but Rock said he looks like a 5.8 4 star. Carrington was ranked around 900 and we know how that worked out. 😉

We need DT's. Losing our main DL prospect this summer means we need a couple really good ones this class. We are deep and good for now but we look really thin in the freshman and soph class.... And you need 4 or 5 down linemen in the 3-4 to make it through a season. You can't have a zero in a class. That is what has just ruined ul even though they won't admit it.

We need a legit NG and a run stopper DT. Wouldn't hurt to take an extra big on dl as a development guy this year. All the good work we've done on DL the last decade is looking slim the last 2 years.

Mmmm.

We maintain 11/12 for the three down linemen. We brought in another 4 Star Michigan Nose this most recent class.

But yeah, the ‘23 Class needs 3 or so, to hold pace. I’m not worried (yet),

As recently predicted by several media sources, Nasir Addison committed to UK this afternoon. Addison is a WR/CB from Irvington, NJ. On July 8, he decommitted from MD. Addison reportedly holds at least two SEC offers in addition to offers from Cincinnati and FL St. Some sources have speculated that UK is recruiting Addison as a DB. He is being recruited by Brad White.

Addison is UK's first football commit from the state of NJ since Josh Allen committed to our 2015 class.

UK's current 2023 recruiting class-

Nasir Addison, CB/WR, Irvington, NJ
Anthony Brown, slotR, Springfield, OH
Ty Bryant, DB, Lexington, KY
Jakob Dixon, WR, Louisville, KY
Koby Keenum, OL, Florence, AL
Khalifa Keith, RB/LB, Birmingham, AL
Tanner Lemaster, TE, Washington CH, OH
Kaden Moorman, RB, Frankfort, KY
Shamar Porter, WR, Nashville, TN
Austin Ramsey, OL, Philadelphia, PA
Avery Stuart, DB, Montgomery, AL
Malachi Wood, OL, Richmond, KY
Tommy Ziesmer, LB, Danville, KY

Neeo Avery committing on Sunday. I think we’ve been right in the thick of his recruitment. Looks like he tweeted his announcement date from Oxford, MS where he’s on an unofficial visit to Ole Miss. I think Penn State is the other front runner here. Not sure what the chances are.

Any picks in for him?

PSU is not in his final 4. Oregon, Maryland, and OM are the others. If he made a decision on his visit there prob not a good sign

He reneged on his verbal to PSU. Don't think we are in anymore.

@Grumpyolddawg is UGA not in the mix no more? They were high on him during the fall.

Does anyone know how his injury has healed?

As expected Neeo verbals to Ole Miss

Really not a fun recruiting yr

I heard good news is coming tomorrow! We will to have to wait and see, but a big time commit.

aTm had asked Betrand to wait awhile then brought him in this weekend. He was most likely going to pick UK before pushing his decision back and going this weekend. He has now picked up a CB to aTm from one of their pubs. Win some lose some.

Losing Betrand stings, but UK can't compete with a school with a surplus of boosters who care about the program.

So, that means UK can't compete with virtually every P5 program, save Duke & Vandy. behind a few G5s like Cincy & Houston. Awesome.

But hey, Barnhart's gonna get a nice big ribbon next yr from NCAA as an award for following rules as intended.

Just saw where Rivals put Dixon as a 5.5 3 star

Class still at 45 but hopefully this big commitment tomorrow who I presume is Gilbert will boost us up a little.

Projected running back, who first received interest from Settle and a verbal offer in September. Other sites have him listed at 6'2" and 190 pounds, which seems to be more accurate than rivals.

Is there a legitimate chance we flip Davis?

Also would we take 3 RBs in one class? I guess we will lose 3 after this season in Smoke, CROD, and Ramon Jefferson, but 3 seems like a lot for one class.

This could be interesting to follow. TTU’s new coach was basically hired as a known TX recruiting ace with deep connections all around the state and this is a Texas kid.

It's possible. He's listed as an athlete so he could line up somewhere else on the field.
