When the dust settles, will we be happy with our class and feel like we have met immediate needs through the portal ?
Moten said his dream school growing up is Florida. When Florida offered a coach told him after this year they won't have much left on the DL. Yeah, sure. Not surprising Mullen would say that.A crystal ball pick has been submitted by Michael Swain, predicting Mason Thomas will sign with UK. Thomas is a LB from Cardinal Gibbons hs in Ft Lauderdale. His uncommitted Cardinal Gibbons teammate Ahmad Moten is also being recruited by UK.
The significance of this pick is that Michael Swain is an IA St insider. Thomas is publicly committed to IA St presently. Thomas and Moten are being recruited by UK DC Brad White. If he flips, Thomas would be the first commitment from the state of FL to UK's 2022 class.
Since I addressed the subject of possible transfers here yesterday, I should mention that Syracuse transfer WR Taj Harris has now decommitted from UK. The scuttlebutt is that Harris may be a couple of academic credits short of being eligible for admission to UK, but I don't know for sure if that is the reason. What we know for sure is that Coach Stoops is actively recruiting other WRs in the transfer portal, including Tayvion Robinson from VA Tech.
I am done with replying to you
I really think so.When the dust settles, will we be happy with our class and feel like we have met immediate needs through the portal ?
I'm guessing FL may initially have some trouble recruiting. Billy Napier is a smart coach who may do well in Gainesville. But he has never coached a Power 5 team before, and he isn't all that well known yet, except among industry experts and the media. This is the year for outside programs to go into the state of FL and steal some good prospects from under the noses of the instate schools. In time, Napier should do well if the FL alumni give him enough time. Patience is not their trademark.Moten said his dream school growing up is Florida. When Florida offered a coach told him after this year they won't have much left on the DL. Yeah, sure. Not surprising Mullen would say that.
This is the time of year for flips of this kind. I don't think he will sign with IA St. Better options. Would be a good addition if Coach White can pull it off. Would also like to sign his hs teammate Ahmad Moten if there is room.
Several SEC offers for this guy... Love it!Read elsewhere that Justin Rowland put in a future pick for Quentel Jones .
Is he good? (I assume he is if we offered)Read elsewhere that transfer portal OL Brenden Bordner says UK has offered him .Plays both tackle positions . 3 time academic AA Senior that we recruited but lost to Rutgers .
Kind of a baffling offer to me. Supposedly got benched at Rutgers this year.Is he good? (I assume he is if we offered)
Have no idea .Is he good? (I assume he is if we offered)
Maybe it’s not legit . I don’t know anything about it, just read it on another site.Kind of a baffling offer to me. Supposedly got benched at Rutgers this year.
I’m usually reluctant to judge film. But this kid has a “quick twitch,” and an instinctive ability for pursuit angles. After watching film of him, Quentel Jones seems vastly underrated.
Sure. There are several big targets left, and we have a solid core.If we lose Goodwin, can this still be a great class?
Even though that is not the distant past, the college football terrain has changed a great deal since Beamer’s run. While there were very good teams then, I think the average team today is much better. Getting to the final game with the CFP is more difficult. Stoops is well-equipped, as he has demonstrated, but how NIL yet again changes the landscape will impact the answer. The question: can he take us farther than Frank Beamer took VPI?
He is flipping to UMA top defensive back just decommitted from Clemson. Stoops needs to get on this guy.
It could. But every program faces these same questions.Even though that is not the distant past, the college football terrain has changed a great deal since Beamer’s run. Frazier offered by UT, MS St and about 30 others. Runs a 4.5 and is a 4 star. Impressive for a 6-3 guy. Averaged 1.5 breakups so he COULD be a really big get. Grew up watching SEC football so is intrigued by that. This week is shaping up as a big recruiting week. This is not unexpected, since the signing date is rapidly approaching later this month.
Here are some names expected to visit Lexington this week-
Ja'Kobi Albert, WR, Fairfield, AL (Auburn commit)
Jalen Farmer, OL, Covington, GA (FL commit)
Jahquan Frazier, DB, Cedartown, GA (Coffeyville CC)
Jackson Smith, K, Danville, KY (UK commit)
Andre Stewart, DB, Kennesaw, GA (UK commit)
Deone Walker, OL/DL, Detroit, MI
This list could still grow.
Smith and Stewart have long been committed to UK but are just now taking their official visits. Walker is one of the best uncommitted prospects remaining on UK's recruiting board. UK's staff is trying to flip Albert and Farmer. The recent firings of Mike Bobo (by Auburn) and Dan Mullen (by FL) make it doable. Frazier, a juco, holds three SEC, three B12, and three PAC12 offers. Stoops wants him because 3 of UK's DB starters as well as our top CB backup are graduating.
Does the Kobi Albert visit still happen with Sumrall leaving? This week is shaping up as a big recruiting week. This is not unexpected, since the signing date is rapidly approaching later this month.

Longmire and UK agreed it was best for him to go elsewhere. UK initiated it according to my source.UK's current 2022 recruiting class-
Alex Afari, ATH, West Chester, OH
Jordan Anthony, slotR, Tylertown, MS
Grant Bingham, OL, Paintsville, KY
Barion Brown, WR, Nashville, TN
Tomiwa Durojaiye, DL, Middletown, DE
Tyrese Fearbry, LB, Pittsburgh, PA
Kiyaunte Goodwin, OL, Charlestown, IN
Nikolas Hall, OL, Austin, TX
Josh Kattus, TE, Cincinnati, OH
Dane Key, WR, Lexington, KY
DeCarlos Nicholson, DB, Perkinston, MS
Elijah Reed, DB, Louisville, KY
Jackson Smith, K, Danville, KY
Andre Stewart, DB, Kennesaw, GA
Destin Wade, ATH, Spring Hill, TN
Keaton Wade, LB, Spring Hill, TN
Brandon White, slotR, Cincinnati, OH
There are two categories of recruiting news this week. First is the decommitment of Treyveon Longmire. I have seen some people attempt to minimize this loss. It's true that UK's recruiting class did not fall very far in the team recruiting rankings. But rankings don't win games. Players do. Recruiting is about fitting athletes with roster needs and then developing players who can perform. Several sources have speculated that Longmire sees himself as a receiver at the next level while UK's coaching staff might view him more as a DB. They may have promised Longmire that he could try both positions. But the recent commitments of Dane Key and Barion Brown as well as the incoming transfer of Taj Harris may have discouraged Longmire. Maybe. Who really knows? My guess is that Longmire may be headed to Cincinnati now, and the headlines of playoff contention may have enticed the kid. The problem with this is that Luke Fickell is one of the hottest coaching commodities in the country right now, and I doubt it will be very long before he and his staff are living and coaching someplace else.
Anyway, Longmire is a significant loss for our class, but not disastrous. For his sake and ours, I wish he had stayed put.
Which brings us to fresh recruiting news. The following UK players are now in the transfer portal-
Jared Casey
Jake Pope
Nick Scalzo
Travis Tisdale
Nassir Watkins
By my count, this means 58 scholarship players (including Taj Harris) are expected back in 2022. If Jacquez Jones, Jordan Wright, and-or Deandre Square exercise their right to return in 2022 under the COVID supersenior rule, that number would increase to 59, 60, or 61. Of those, we can assume Dare Rosenthal, Wandale Robinson, and Chris Rodriguez are considering an early jump to the NFL draft. I feel CRod really needs to come back because of the impact of all the fumbles on his draft status. But the other two could go, which would reduce the final number of returning players accordingly.
Stoops currently has 17 players committed to his class, plus incoming transfer Taj Harris. This year, programs are allowed to replace outgoing superseniors even if that takes their rosters over the standard 85 scholarship limit. So Stoops can take a combination of at least 6-7 more commitments and incoming transfers, more than that if he wants. Basically, this is an opportunity for Stoops to shore up every position of need on his roster.
The headwind, though, is the loss of co-DC Jon Sumrall, who just accepted the HC job at Troy. Sumrall is one of UK's two most productive recruiters, and this is a tough week to lose him coming right before the signing date. For this reason and others, I think Stoops is about to accept a series of incoming transfers. More on that in a moment.
But there has been other fresh news on the recruiting front. Committed players Ja'Kobi Albert (Auburn) and Mason Thomas (IA St) are taking a new look at UK and may visit Lexington in the next week. There has also been some new speculation about committed players Drew Bobo (Auburn), Aamil Wagner (ND), and Tegra Tshabola (OH St) although premature IMO in all three of those cases.
Here is a new list of uncommitted hs players with UK scholarship offers and indications of current interest-
BJ Blake, DB, Hyattsville, MD
Davison Igbinosun, DB, Union, NJ
Quentel Jones, DL, Ft Valley, GA
Jalen Klemm, OL, Gibsonia, PA
Ahmad Moten, DL, Ft Lauderdale, FL
Jawaun Northington, ATH, Louisville, KY
Andrew Savaiinaea, DL, Graham, WA
Deone Walker, OL/DL, Detroit, MI
I don't typically cover transfers on this recruiting thread. But since we are counting scholarships at this point, here is a list of more possible transfers who could pop onto UK's radar soon or already have. None of these lists is intended to be all-inclusive, and we have no real idea where most of them are headed yet.
Khris Bogle (FL)
Jackson Bratten (AL)
MJ Griffin (Temple)
Enzo Jennings (PA St)
Frank Ladson (Clemson)
Walker Parks (Clemson)
Eli Ricks (LSU)
Tayvion Robinson (VA Rech)
Craig Young (OH St)
UK appears to have the inside track for Bogle, who would be a Jack or Sam LB in Stoops' 3-4. I expect more players in the transfer portal to look into UK this month.
As far as we can tell now, DeCarlos Nicholson appears to he the only juco player currently being recruited by UK's staff.

Very much up in the air. Not sure if he is still visiting or not with Sumrall gone.Does the Kobi Albert visit still happen with Sumrall leaving?
Is UK getting a visit? That would be fantastic news. You forgot Banks Alabama DB transfer portal
Think Walker visited MI today and will visit us Friday. Have mostly seen Crystal Ball picks at 88%-92% to MI. Hopefully things have changed recently. Can play the Nose or OL, Wohlford is his recruiter. This week is shaping up as a big recruiting week. This is not unexpected, since the signing date is rapidly approaching later this month.

Did not know that. Walker compared to DL Daniel McCullers. They are the same size. Walker said to be quick side to side for his size and can use the spin move. That agility for his size enables his ability to also be OT. MI has two OT committed and two big DT's and obviously will have more on signing day.Yes. Also, on Deone Walker, Georgia is more or a threat than Michigan, but I think Wolford and UK closes it out next weekend.
Yes this weekendIs UK getting a visit? That would be fantastic news.
Time for Collins to show his chops as a recruiter!Yes this weekend
I can't find anything on Banks visiting.Banks? He isn't on the lists I've seen
