Starting QB vs the Vols to be determined……

UT has been struggling on offense this year, I look for them to break out of their slump and look really good Saturday. And we have been a good team to jump start the other team’s offense. I hope I’m wrong but I have a feeling that GW gets the start and Stoops tries to run clock to get the game over with as soon as possible.
Regardless of which QB starts/plays Saturday, CMS will try to run the ball, run the clock, keep the score respectable, and hopefully get out of Knoxville with a 28-6 loss.

Meanwhile, on defense, even though teams have stymied Niko E-I-E-I-O by blitzing him and pressuring him to force him to throw the ball while on the move, BW and CMS will play their same old prevent defense and use the excuse that DBs are injured while never pressuring the QB until we are down 3-4 scores.

Also, our defense has shown no ability to stop the run, and UT'S RBs and running game are legit.

Huepel can simply line up and run the ball down our throat if he chooses to, and there will not be a darn thing we can do to stop them.

I really believe Huepel will use the first half to try and get Niko and the passing game tuned up, then run our nose in the ground the second half.

Huepel HATES the Stoops boys. He will hang a 70 on us if he can. Stoops can only try to keep the ball away from UT.

How sad.

Yeah, UK with 5 defensive starters out, could give up 400 rushing yards Sat. What UK needs is 4 18-play scoring drives that'll take 10 minutes off the clock each. Do that and eliminate effing mistakes and maybe they get lucky. TN could've been riding a 3 game losing streak coming into this game but thanks to the horseshoe firmly wedged up their ass and a few friendly whistles that didn't happen. Their balloon will burst one day, I doubt UK has the needle to make it happen.

I was thinking along the same way, but they will try to get Niko’s confidence back up by picking our prevent defense apart. Bend don’t Break is great when you have a defense that tightens up around the 20, who knows what our defense does this Saturday. I would love to see them make UT kick some FG’s.

What's the reason Huepel hates the Stoops brothers?

Young UK LBs/DBs have to grow a pair and make plays, no doubt about it...they'll be a key. Noah Matthews/Tyreese Fearbry have GOT to become a force in this game. All the film study/walk thru are over...go play football, time those guys earned their keep.

If GW starts the head coach and OC should be fired after the first offensive snap of the game.
I’m excited to see what we roll out there this Saturday, I think we have some good young players that should get some valuable experience the next 4 games. If GW does start and takes us down the field for a score, I will definitely be surprised and I think the HC and OC would be as well along with Tennessee, the announcers and both teams fans.

Bob Stoops made him the scapegoat of a bad season ( by Oklahoma standards) at Oklahoma and fired him.
Mike Stoops was DC, I believe, and Huepel was OC, and the Stoops boys had to have a fall guy for a bad season in Norman.

Sound familiar??

Ready to watch some young players, but I'm not looking forward to a GW start, he couldn't throw a football into the ocean if he were standing on the beach at high tide. I've watched UK football since the early 60's when Jerry Wollum was throwing the ball to Tom Hutchinson and I can't remember being more disappointed in a season outcome than the current one. I truly believed we were in for a good season despite the schedule(oh well so much for that)

Kudos to you for being able to still be excited watching this train wreck.

I am considering doing he same
After reading what Stoops said today, I think we are going to line up and try to pound the football down the field. We are going to do what we do best and that is run block, granted it isn’t fabulous blocking but better then our pass protection. I will surf the channel on breaks but I will watch most all of the game, I can’t help it, I’m a creature of habit.

That's what's needed. Would love to see Wilcox with 18 or so carries.

A lot of this which QB will start is probably just to force TN to prepare for both. I'd be shocked if Brock didn't start.
The fact Stoops thinks this is the way to go confirms to me that it’s not. When was the last good, impactful decision he made for this team? This ain’t it. He’s grasping at straws. It’s honestly kind of pitiful.

I really hate this. It's football, you name the qb and rally behind them. Not naming a starter is being cute. What happens if you don't score on first possession. Oh, our secret strategy didn't work, what now. And it's not a a hindrance to the other coaching staff. I've just never heard of a decent team defense be befuddled because they weren't prepared for starting qb. Maybe a backup because it's a big change in the middle of the game. But GW comes out, those lbs know he's going to keep the ball and run it up the middle.

UT will have 8 or 9 in the box all night......and we will run right into the teeth of the best run defense in the SEC.

What a game plan. UK football needs drastic change........NOW!!

Ooooooooo......
UT won't know which QB to get ready for.......

Hammy and Stoops playing chess while Heupel out here playing checkers on an orange checkerboard.

Now, if Brad White can just figure out how to defend that wide receiver bubble screen that UT has scored against White and UK with the FIRST POSSESSION all 3 years that Huepel has been coach, we might have a chance to make it to halftime without getting blown out.....

Nah. We will play off the WR in a soft zone and rush 3 as always, trying to figure out what play UT is going to run, and BOOM, ANOTHER UT TD, probably on the first play they are on offense.......AGAIN!!!

SMH.
If Stoops leaves and Mitch gets his way, Brad White will be our coach next year. This 💩show may get a whole lot worse. I will officially be done with the program if White is hired. This isn’t good for my health.

Problem is UT knows we are going to try to run run run and run run run and then run more .. go misdirection , use play action , throw in a trick play , use reverses .. but we try to plow forward it’s going to be a repeat of Will Livas’s fine performance down there .. 56-7 or whatever

Every decent qb recruit sans levis has been a bust in the stoops era. There is one reason for that... Mark Stoops and the shoddy offensive system he promotes. Most of these guys would be good to great in the correct system.
Stven Johnson and TD Terry had nice years with 10 wins.
I think the drop back passers are not a fit for stoops and success. Even Levis ran the ball effectively.
This o line coach would get Peyton Manning murdered.

If they throw the ball they are stupid. Letting niko turn it over is the only possible way they lose.
Probably not, but why risk it?
GBB? 😐

If we start GW, it just shows me we aren't serious about trying to win in Knoxville this year. We'll be getting a bunch of guys reps to prepare them for next year, imo.

UT will run blitz 75+% of the time if Wimsatt is under center. No threat to beat you with his arm. We'll get demolished following that strategy. Which probably means that's exactly what we're planning to do.

It'll be a game time decision whether I watch any of the game tonight. Not sure I can sit over 3 hours to watch us flounder on offense and give up 40+ points on defense.

Going to be a walk over, not that TN has a super offense, they've scuffled tho running game is good, but you can't take 6 starters off an ordinary defense and not feel it. UK may be going with 4th teamers at some DB spots.

Yeah, me too I have been listening/watching too long to stop now

You have to recruit/evaluate a QB knowing that you are probably going to put him behind a middle of the road offensive line at best.
The notion of the Big Blue Wall is a figment of UK fans imagination.
The BBW didn't leave with Shalarman, it left with that particular group of kids we just happen to hit on.
Jager and Cox are just not as good as Drake and Landon no matter who is coaching.
We just happened to have a streak where we hit on O line recruits.
The last few years with Goodwin, Hall, Bingham, Jager and the portal guys outside of Dare have been a huge bust.

All probably true, but pro style passer will not work with this head coach.
So if it gonna be his fat ass, can we please get a run option guy back there?
