Trey Lewis: "Coach Pitino says this is the best team he's coached in 40 years. You guys don't see how we battle everyday."

I'm not even kidding, I am somewhat starting to feel bad for this guy. He is clearly losing/lost it.

I stopped listening to his asinine rhetoric many years ago. Even when at UK his stuff got old. He's taken it to a whole new level at UL. I do appreciate his time at UK, but man he's so full of crap. When he speaks he's an embarrassment to himself, UL and his family.

CBS ranks 'em

Damion Lee could have a good year. There's also the current scandal. How much does that affect what goes on in the program? No way to tell. But no denying this is the weakest Pitino roster in more than five years.

With 8 NBA guys on the team, how could it not be his best team in 40 years? He should have specifically included his '96 Kentucky team.

If I was the reporter I would have the urge to laugh in that kid's face. That is the biggest bunch of crap ever. I am really really starting to hate Pitino. I hope we obliterate them in Rupp to the point Rick has some sort of shock where he is forced into retirement.

With comments like this, how can you not want them to get abused by the NCAA for the scandal. One of the most comicsl quotes he's ever had. This might top his draft pick comment.

I'm thinking he's saying this because he knows there might be a post season ban. And he's wanting the NCAA to think they're really punishing ul.

They got owned in Puerto Rico and this weekend they're going to get owned by Scotty Davenport until he calls off the dogs.

Reading this I can't help but feel sorry for what has become of a man that once stood on top of the world at UK.

Now, he's a platitude.

A tired aged gimmicky carnival barker out there saying things he doesn't believe and cannot even muster the energy to sell any longer. If you look at Rick closely enough you can see the marks where his soul departed and he became the undead. An honorless zombie for UK fans to stick pins into. Not because we hate him for Louisville, but because of what he has done to our memory of him.

Please Rick, muster up some shred of decency and honor if any still linger anywhere in that walking skeleton husk you have left, put on you best suit, and walk out to that podium and resign. Don't even do it for the University of Louisville or Kentucky... do it as one final act for what you used to be. So that in the end we can remember you standing up and doing what is right instead of some shuffling half-alive thing that stingily clings to life if or no other reason than fear of what everyone already knows... you are nothing of what you once were, Rick.

I now hope Pitino makes it through this season. With this scandal over their heads and him slurping up his grad transfers, he is going to have some amazing quotes.

Yeah, I can hear Pitino talking about a future recruit now..."He's the best player that's ever come out of Antarctica...he has ice in his veins!"

Maybe but you sure don't here Cal telling guys that. Hard to take anything he says seriously when he misuses superlatives all the time.

I think Cal has more than his fair share of saying what needs to be said - and we love him for it. Alot of time Cal talks to the players and fans thru the media.

This is clearly the best team he's had in 40 years that he's said this particular thing to. The best.

Rick telling this team they're the best he's had in 40 years is like a doctor telling a terminally ill patient that they're gonna pull through and live another 25 quality years.
Good point. Maybe he's getting these stupid ideas from the Cleveland Clinic.

So this Louisville team is better than '96 Kentucky?

Don't forget the Providence FF team, the Knicks playoff team, any of the Boston Celtics teams, the UK teams, the UL teams that went to FF and won a title...this team is better than all of them!!!

Actually we have a pretty good idea how you battle each day, there's been a book written about that.

NewIm sure everyone is like me and is happy to start the season and leave the offseason nonsense behind us. What do you all predict will occur this year?
Looking at the schedule it's hard to find a bunch of losses.
-Michigan St. will be tough on the road but they are still waiting on a player to get eligible. That one is a tossup.
-I'd call the sUcKs game a lock if it was at home. I still think we have a significant advantage inside and that our experience will carry us but you never know in that arena if you'll be playing 5 on 5 or 5 on 8. I'll call it a win for now.
The ACC will be a grind though.
-NC st. on the road. Maybe im just a pessimist but I think we go down in that matchup. Tough place to play and I think they are being overlooked.
-I think we split with both UVA and Duke. 2 very good matchups.
-At Notre Dame is another tossup.
-UNC is a tossup too. Thats a very good team there. I think the best in the country but I think there will be a lot of distractions for that team this year. I think this is the year where the academic scandal finally catches up to them.
So that leaves us 27-4 or 26-5 at the end of the regular season. Good enough for a top 2 seed and a deep run going to come in the tourney. Damion Lee will be a ACC POY candidate. Mangok is my breakthrough guy.

They've been going with the "our experience is going to carry us" line for eight years and it almost never works out that way.

Has anyone ever meet a basketball intelligent UL fan? I've lived in this city for awhile and I still haven't. Every year they will beat us and they have the better talent and experience. Yet here we are, 33-15 and 7-1 since Cal.

I can't say I blame them for not knowing much about hoops. Their games are just social events for their fans to drink crown royal, and hit the road by halftime.
