Incorrect. Both Rivals and ESPN ranked Ulis as a 5 star. ESPN had Booker as a 5 star ranked 18th, and also bumped Herro to a 5 in their final update that year. SGA was ranked 34th just barely outside the five range. That is hardly proof that rankings are irrelevant.

After injuries, he fell back down the list. Didn’t exactly get the Harry Giles treatment.

If the father won two national titles, and the mother as decorated a ball player as she is, yes, it should be understood at birth he has a place at this program.

This is about family. And people not understanding this is why this sport is becoming unwatchable. I think Jeff and Stace contributed enough to UK that a free ride for their kid, whether he sits or not, is the least we can do. We’ve offered scholarships to kids we never intended to play to pull someone they’re connected to, why in the world would we not be all in from day 1 on a kid like Shep?

Had I been Cal I would have told Jeff before the kid was in high school it doesn’t matter how he ends up, we’ll find a spot for him.

If I’m wrong for that I’d rather not be right.

Rankings should be meaningless to UK fans lately. I’m surprised after Booker, Herro, Ulis, Gilgeous Alexander, etc (all 4*s, except for Ulis who I believe wasn’t even a 4*) our fans even consider rankings as relevant anymore.

I know a few 5*s the last few years I’d have written off for those 4*s to have just stayed over the last few years.

Ulis was a composite 5 star on 247......
