Reed Sheppard really struggling

arkansas-trolls-kentucky-with-reed-sheppard-picture-after-loss.png

Benedict Sheppard. Shooting bricks and giving up buckets. Rafael Stone better start lining up his next job.

For sure cost himself a lot of money getting arrested for domestic violence literally a few hours before being eligible to sign a big contract extension .
He’s playing lights out now so I’m sure he will get another shot now. Heck above average players make 30M a year now easy. He’s lucky he was young and got another shot because his team sucks so bad they need all the talent they can get. It’s kinda sad.

If my entire life was about money, I’d be one miserable sap
You seem to be ahead of the curve my friend Drew .
Be a multi millionaire or in play in front of you ignorant, fragile hillbillies? He made the right choice.
Go root for Arizona you west coast prick . I don’t recall you being an asshole but that’s one of the worst comments ever .. from a so called Ky fan ? I’d be embarrassed— for you

48 Million for 4 years, 20 Mil guaranteed and can always go back to school.

Clowns here saying they would have come back are...... 🤡
If all you want is the money, it is a great call. However, most athletes want success too. The money would have still been on the table after he further developed his game. Reed didn't come from a family who was desperately in need of money and needed it ASAP. So, there was really no need to make that move before his body was physically capable of taking the pounding that comes with the league. He struggled on defense at the college level, so he certainly could have benefited from good coaching before making the jump. The thing to consider is do you want a short-term career or a long term career. If you don't really like the game, grab the money as quickly as you can. Otherwise, take the NIL money and take the time to develop your game.

Here we go with another thread where people don't understand the dynamics of the NBA draft and why guys go pro. You'd think after 15 years of Cal people would have understood it by now.

I understand it and, even though I don't like the way the system is set up, I just shrugged when he went pro. It's the Ar-Kansas shirt and the comments after that made me done with him. He doesn't care about UK, I don't care about him. He's from the Mountains like me and he should have known better.

His UK 3pt % was inflated because he didn’t play defense. Much easier to play the game when you only try on 1 side. Maybe he should try getting an Arkansas tattoo or something to feel closer to Cal, maybe that’ll get him back in the groove.

I pull for him . I especially pull hard for him now that so many on this board are piling on him. I wish him nothing but the best.

Small white boys should stay in school. They'll make enough money selling insurance or whatever after basketball. Leave the nba for for those that don't believe in God
I’m trying to figure out if you’re racist or stupid. The sheer stupidity of this post is amazing. Maybe you should tell Herro that joke.

Wait, what comments did he make? I honestly don't know.

He made 45 million. Somehow I think he will be fine. No one on here would have turned down that money and if they say they would have they are a moron or a liar or both.

He would have made less money by staying as he would have never been drafted so high in a stronger draft.
If it’s all about the money I hope he enjoys it be said he sure can’t use it to buy back any of the years in college.

Not sure it works out that well, how many not physically ready for the league end up washed out after a few years and never get a chance for that really big contract.
But there's nothing magical about college that makes you more physically ready.

Guys go pro, and have acess to so much more. The NBA has the best strength and conditioning coaches. Teams are invested in you as a 1st round (especially top 10 pick) so they pour resources into making sure you succeed.

If college can improve your strength and such...so can the NBA. Guys that flame out for not being physically able--were going to fail out regardless.

Shep will be fine, he just needs to be somewhere that he gets a lot of minutes. The Arkansas crap was just that CRAP! He made a big mistake with that decision. He might have thought it was funny, but it was far from it

I agree with you totally. I think from a strength, system, and maturity sense. He would have been even more prepared. He would not have gotten drafted higher, but like Deion Sanders says the right fit is the best. Houston isn’t a bad organization and wasn’t expected to be this good so fast. He could have went to a good organization maybe with a spot he could actually get time in.

Maybe that combined with being more physically and mentally ready could have primed him for a better start and that second contract. Yes he’s set for life, but that second deal would set his family up for generations no matter where they live or what they did. He gave up a legacy here that would have been forever had he stayed and won big like his father for a quick buck. If his pro career lasted and he was a star then yeah it maybe wouldn’t have mattered as much.

What if he does not improve and gets cut after 3 years? Maybe he will look back and think about how great his Kentucky legacy could have been. Seeing how he’s acted about Calipari though I don’t know if even he cares as much as we think he should. He seems closer in mentality like his team mates with no history here than someone of his bloodline should regard it.

This shows how wicked people are - using Deion Sanders as someone to quote on how to make a life decision.
WOW 🤯😳🤯that is mind-blowing on so many levels.

Poor Reed. He just had to go pro when he did. There was only a $3 million NIL waiting for him and another weak draft for him to make lottery money once again in 2025.

You guys are right. His career earnings would have went from about 45 million down to 42 million. And to think that the second option would have only given him legendary status in Big Blue Nation for the rest of his life. But he didn't know about Big Blue Nation. How could he have? Both of his parents only played for the University, and he was only surrounded by Kentucky fans all of his life.

I give the kid a pass. He had to take that money when it was there. To go from being the third pick in 2024, to something like the sixth pick in 2025 is unfathomable, especially when there was only around 3 million in NIL waiting for him.

My only hope for him at this point is that he genuinely likes authentic Asian cuisine.

I’ve got no problem with him going pro after one year. I have a problem with him graduating from Cal university and Cal somehow stealing the sole out of one of us, and turning him into another fckn mercenary like all the rest. Reed was supposed to be a die hard, blue blooded Kentuckian. Now he’s just another fckn Kardashian.

F’ Reed. Got two real Kentucky boys playing for the name in the front that I care much more about. I can’t imagine either one of them ever wearing another teams shirt, unless they’d lost a bet.
People are only as faithful as their options. If our two true blue Kentucky boys are good enough to go top 5 then they are gone too. But they are not top 5 good so you get to enjoy them for a few more years. Don’t be naive. None of these kids care as much as you and I.

Didn't he lead the nation in steals or close to it? I know he had a crazy amount. UK played horrible team defense because we had a horrible coach.

As i posted, i lost alot of love for him because of that shirt, but lets not act like he was bad here or even close.

I could care less he left after one year. And if Travis or Trent were good enough it wouldn’t bother me if they left after this year in similar circumstances. I hate that Reed thought putting on an Arkansas shirt before UK played them was a good idea. That’s that Cal university shit. It’s only his players. That’s my point. F’ Reed for choosing Cal over the state and the program. That’s what he did. Couldn’t care he decided to take the millions instead of coming back to UK.

How is that wicked? Lmfao. I have to hear this rational.
Oh, he doesn't know. Just made up some something he probably heard on Reddit. Deion Sanders, as far as I'm concerned, has always been class and ultra-competitive. I hate it for him that he's having the health issues he's having.

Maybe my memory is wrong but seemed like he got pretty lazy on D. You may be right though, I have been wrong before.
