Reds

Hope he beats out Luke Weaver and heads north with the Reds to start the season.

It would shock me if Luis Cessa is not in the starting rotation at #4 and Williamson at 5th hopefully behind the 3 of Lodolo, Greene & Ashcraft barring any injuries. Cessa will have already been stretched out pitching for Mexico in the WBC.

Destined as a reliever if he is going to stick at the MLB level with him being injury prone. With multiple options and a deep farm system in pitching it's just best to move on IMO. Let's be real, anyone see him in 3-5 years starting?

Padres using Spring Training to move Tatis from SS to RF after his suspension ends. Cincinnati doesn't need someone to get suspended to start a transition when it should be happening already.

Instead the Reds pissed away a whole winter ball season, failing to move any of their 32 SSs to the OF. It's just a shame Reds fans have such a stumbling, fumbling, incompetent FO.

Benson stole home, 2 in the inning. Think I'm going to like this guy. India stole 3rd as well.
Starting in CF as well. Made highlight reel catches in CF with Cleveland last year. IMO the best lineup for the Reds would be LF Fraley, CF Benson & RF Myers at the moment. Benson is a big time prospect and the only way for him to develop is to throw him out there and don't waste any more time with Senzel or Friedl in CF. Williamson a little shaky to start but it's just the 1st game.

Needs 2 years in High A, this is the Reds you know.
It was great to see McGarry get a hit and score a run late in the game. Hope these prospects have a great spring and force the Reds to make some tough decisions and play their way into their MLB Debut at some point this year.

Marte with a hit too and Karcher with the W. Weaver the SP Sunday.

The positives on the day. Put up some more runs today. Friedl RBI Triple & RBI Double. Ramos 2 hits & 2 RBIs. Benson got another hit. Siani, ELDC and Martin with RBI each.
Clean innings by Weaver, Stoudt, Bracho, Gibaut struck out the side.

Ben Lively gave up 2 & Alan Busenitz and 3. A reason why they are minor league journeymen.

Friedl needs to prove he can sustain it and be a consistent force in the lineup. Also hit a home run in his first ST at-bat last year off Corbin Burnes and demoted to the minors by June. As long as Benson keeps hitting I see no reason to move him from CF unless they plan on Myers being at 1B if Votto hasn't returned by Opening Day.

Reds plastered by Texas Mon, tough start for Greene and one can assume Overton punched his Bats/Lookouts ticket. On the plus side, another hit for Marte and 2 hits for CES. What's up with McClain? Is he hurt? In typical Reds fashion, guy hits game winning HR then DNP next 2 days. Lodolo with ST debut Tuesday vs LAD.

Yesterday's debacle did not help Overton's case but I remember saying the same thing last ST when he faltered hoping that he would not break camp with the Reds. He didn't but by the time he did get called up, was one of few bright spots in a shitty 100 loss season. I'm sure the Reds are going to need his services at some point this year. I think McLain subbed in Sunday and scored a run IIRC.

Put up 7 runs with 10 hits against the Dodgers today. I like the emphasis on the running game the Reds are showing to start. 4 stolen bases today. Benson has 3 SBs in Spring Training so far. This team is going to have to score runs playing small ball as they are currently built until guys like ELDC, CES, Marte, McLain so forth come up. Stephenson has been solid at the plate coming back from injury with an RBI Double today. Solak blasted one to deep CF. Ramos has had a nice start to Spring Training, 2 hits and an RBI today. Siani, Vosler & Robinson also drove in runs. Solid pitching performance today led by Lodolo with 2 scoreless innings, 1 BB. Only run given up by Sanmartin.

Re McClain, i missed his subbing Sun but he needs ABs.

Beginning to think Henry Ramos may be able to help them in the OF.

Needs more at-bats no doubt. Should have been starting over Pinder today getting 3 at-bats with McLain coming off the bench for 2 ABs and India a day off. The Reds don't need any more utility role players like Pinder with the likes of Solak and the rumored super utility role Senzel is supposed to have since we know the Reds will not be parting ways with him.

Hoping to see at least one ST game with CES at 1B, McClain at 2B, DLC at SS, Speer at 3B and McGarry at DH.

Saw Reds-LAD today. DLC with a great play in the hole and a seed, I mean a SEED, to 1B for the out. Kid has one helluvan arm!

They are coming and players like Barrero, Senzel & Friedl need a fire lit under their ass. They can't expect to be starting in 2024 or even by the end of this season truth be told.

They are SOL if they think a 30 year old .200 hitter is going to help them this year. Book another 100 loss season. Where in the hell has Kennys Vargas been?

Vargas isn't exactly going to save them either.

If Senzel is used for anything other than an occasional runner for Votto it'll be a clear sign the FO is beyond hope.

14-14 tie with the A's. CES Grand Slam!! Casali RBI Double, Richie Martin 2-run home run. Nice spring for Martin and the catchers so far. Allan Cerda solo home run. Lopez & Pereda ground outs in the bottom of the 8th with an RBI each that tied up the game at 10-10 before Martin hit a 3-run double and CES with an RBI single. Martini 2 runs scored and 3 runs scored for McLain today. Solak, Martin & India SBs.

Ashcraft 2 runs today. Gibaut struck out the side again. Kuhnel & Bracho 1 run a piece. Lively & Busenitz blew up again. Guerrero handed a 14-10 lead and gave up 4 runs in the top of the 9th after the 10-run inning the Reds had in the 8th.

Been hoping to see CES, now put him in the lineup and LEAVE HIM ALONE. Liked the 3 runs scored by McClain thanks to 3 walks. Marte with 2 hits also.

Another struggle from Ashcraft to go with his last 3 starts last year coming off the IL. Not convinced he's healthy. Gibaut solidifies his setup spot. Didn't pitch Wed but don't sleep on Karcher, could make the pen.

Bracho, Lively, Busenitz, Guerrero coming to a minor league roster near you soon.

CES and Marte have certainly looked the part and McLain as well. Slow start for ELDC. Hope Karcher makes the roster out of ST, deserves an opportunity at the MLB level. Want to see more of Lyon Richardson holding a 40-man roster spot and at 23 years old should have appeared in more than 1 game so far instead of the minor league journeymen pitchers like Busenitz & Lively who have in the same game twice decided to implode. Easily 2 more wins this Spring Training without them. Otherwise, the bullpen is strong and felt it would be a strength going into the season with Diaz, Farmer, Cruz, Sims, Sanmartin, Gibaut, whatever Santillan & Antone can offer when they return.

Hoping they'll start playing these young guys on a regular basis. Has to be tough playing a half a game or a full game then not play for 2-3 days.

Santillan/Antone...don't know. I'm not expecting much from either, whatever the Reds get will be gravy. Surprised, make that shocked, we aren't seeing at least one of the young catchers. Makes me think those guys may be nowhere near ready.
