Reds

A win for the Reds and Votto with a single up the middle in his last at bat as the Reds win in probably his last game in GABP. Helluva career. Went back to his vintage swing and Paint It Black walk-up music.

Can the Reds please get rid of Senzel in the off season so he’s no longer even an option for Bell to run out there!!!!!
Don't get your hopes up. The way he still plays so often shows what the organization thinks of him and hitting .353 over the last 2 weeks is not going to hurt his cause.

Given the traffic that passed thru, that's amazing.
Absolutely. Should be another good season with the talent Chattanooga had that will either be in AAA to start or eventually be called up to Louisville in 2024 with Rece Hinds, Blake Dunn, Edwin Arroyo. For the pitchers, possibly Roa, Aguilar & Petty at some point. Who knows where Carson Spiers starts 2024 after a call up this year, finishing assigned to the Bats and going to the AZFL later this year. I think the Daytona Tortugas were the only MILB organization in the pipeline that finished below .500 this season.

Maile home run, Steer RBI triple and CES 2-run home run to put the Reds up 4-3. Sure as hell hope the Braves sweep the Cubs this week but not holding my breath after this weekend.

Going to need the Mets to play spoiler in the Marlins series like they did taking 2 of 3 a week and half ago. Better yet sweep them. Won't be any Adam Wainright this weekend vs St. Louis for one last whooping the Reds are accustomed to giving him. Called it a career after win #200.

Every infield hit is not an RBI Elly.
Agree but you can't really fault the attempt. Defense had to make 2 good plays to get him and they did so have to give the D credit. Just trying to make something happen. However.......the old baseball adage is "don't make the third out at 3B or Home" so there's that.

Another hustle out at 2nd by Marte in the 9th. Nobody is saying they're not fun to watch though. So much more fun than I ever thought I'd have this season.

I'm afraid the jig is up

The jig was up a while back. The events of the last couple of weeks was simply the twisting of the knife.

The Reds would in all likelihood would have been the top WC team if....

~they had acquired a solid SP or two during the trade term. They had ample players to give their walking papers to.

~they had not kept sending EDLC to the plate in the 3 and 4 hole for August and most of Sep. He was long overdue to have been shipped back to the minors, but instead, they gave up a spot in the top of the order so he could smile and flash his gold chains. Horrendous decision to keep him playing every day. He isn't anywhere close to MLB caliber at this stage.

~Allowing Bell to manage. He is truly awful. The second half collapse due to his decisions should be his exit sign.

Cubs swept by the Braves. They have 3 with Milwaukee this weekend and the Marlins get 3 with the mighty Pirates.
If Marlins hang on in NY. Reds only path is sweep Cardinals, Marlins swept by pirates.

Reds lose any tiebreaks to Marlins so have to have better record

Like I said this weekend, they are done. Time to look towards 2024. Can look back at many points in the season from the horrid 1st month and playing like shit in GABP all season long. Injuries and incompetent management in the dugout & sitting back in the FO watching it unravel, rookie growing pains and fatigue all factors into this season. Could not have asked for a better September schedule.

Events all season long are why this team are coming up short and will have to get off to a much better start next April, take care of business at home and actually win against your NL Central rivals. Unfortunately David Bell is the skipper for 3 more years. Why should we all of a sudden think the lineup chaos, mismanagement of the pitching staff is going to be any different just because it is a new season? Better hope these players develop naturally and win in spite of all of the bullshit out of their control.

Yeah the 'jig' has been up for a while now. Didn't lose an entire season in this last week when you can pin point any time of the season as to why the Reds are not going to the postseason. This team overachieved in the early summer to even be a .500 team when the league had to catch up to the develop a scouting report on the new prospects. Unfortunately they are playing now more like everyone thought they would to start the year here in the 2nd half losing games they have no business dropping. Then all of the excuses as to why from injuries, clueless management not adding players at the deadline, Bell couldn't manage his way out of a wet paper sack and the youthful inexperience and growing pains of prospects. Those who say otherwise are fooling themselves as no expected the Reds to be a .500 team after losing 100 games. Even if the improbable had happened this year, they would be an early out.

Reds would be better served if Arizona goes winless and Chicago loses 2 or 3. The Reds still have to sweep, but they have the tiebreakers over Ariz and Chi.

That's true. Probably slightly more likely AZ would be swept by Houston than Miami by Pirates.
